Went for lunch during the week. To start, the food is fabulous and reasonably priced. The restaurant was clean and service was prompt. There was one guy running the bar, taking orders, and serving food. He was extremely rushed, which is fine and understandable, but it would have been nicer to have a friendly server who wasn’t stressed out. He asked if we wanted grilled or shredded chicken — but neglected to tell us that there was a $ 2 upcharge, and that information was not printed on the menu. He was clearly annoyed when I questioned the bill. I will go back again, as the food was excellent, but word to the wise: if the server suggests anything, ask how much extra it will cost. Or keep a menu at the table so you can compare it to the bill when it comes.

My first experience in the dining room with absolutely terrible but I wanted to update my review because of the business response to my review about ironing out some kinks… so we decided to give it another shot and sit at the bar. We ordered a few drinks and food and we were only up charged for items such as sour cream etc… unlike last time a few dollars for a ramekin of lettuce. The bartender Scott was absolutely amazing and made us feel very welcome from the second that we sat down… we will be returning because of him. He was a great bartender very personable and attentive and we are glad we gave it another try and he was the one that took care of us.

I was excited when Señor Panchos opened, as I thought it would be a good Mexican restaurant very close to my home. Needless to say, my family has only been there twice. The food is OK, general Mexican food no better than any other fast-food Mexican place. Think taco bell if they plated their food. The service is what is really hit-or-miss, usually miss. The last time we were there, we sat around waiting for drinks for around 15 minutes. Finally, our waiter came and took our food and drink orders. We get our food… still no drinks. He realizes this, is obviously embarrassed and says«Oh, sorry, I’m such a ret**d today.» I was taken aback and said nothing, just looked, wide-eyed at my mother-in-law, who wore the same expression. We went through the rest of the meal, often running out of drinks and receiving no refills, we tipped and left, and never went back. We never really made a conscious decision not to return, but I guess the experience turned us off to the whole restaurant and the food didn’t make up for the unprofessional and rather offensive service. I would like to note that the waitresses we have had there are generally very nice along with the manager, I think his name was Jeff? He was very pleasant as well.

Always quick and friendly service. Have had to wait for a seat for a short time before, but once seated service is quick. I haven’t had a meal here that I did not enjoy. The owner/manager is very involved and is often on the floor interacting with customers.

Stopped in last night for a quick bite, we typically grab take out from this location but decided to stay! Glad we did as the food & service was on point. From the busers to our server, Jenna, they kept checking in with us throughout our meal. Jenna provided great recommendations to my husband. Unlike other customers we had no problem using a Unilocal coupon which was a nice treat after checking-in!

Fast service, really nice people. Food is typical, a little more on the salty side. Nothing was really spicy, even though it was listed as spicy. But maybe that’s just me. Seating for a big family is kind of awkward lol.

Everything was just middle of the road. The apps, wine, food and atmosphere were just ok. My problem is I expect something great when I go out to dinner. señor Panchos is not for me, as it is no where near good. The wait staff was either not present or pulling our plates away as we ate… too pushy or inattentive, not middle of the road like everything else. I predict that they are closed before winter. I can’t forget to mention the women dressed like prostitutes pushing tequila, when we declined to try, they answered«but it’s free, get it free“‘ I was annoyed by them being so comfortable interrupting our dinner conversation, but at the same time so embarrassed for them. It’s a shame. Friday night at 8 pm and 4 booths were full.

We went on a Sunday night and I was not super impressed. I’m going to give it another shot though because my husband bought a groupon. Stay tuned.

Hey all, just wanted to give a quick update. We’ve eaten there several more times, and aside from one-time with a fairly disinterested server and a weak drink, it’s been top-notch. I’ve tried both fish tacos, crispy and grilled. Both great! The table-side guac was well worth it. The last time we were there they even gave us some free Habanero sauce along with the salsa! Who-ah! Excellent friendly service, and keep those lovely daiquiris coming! :)

Had a groupon type thing. The food is okay. The beer list is okay, the margaritas are okay. The table side guacamole is very yummy!!! I’m just not easily impressed by the Mexican restaurants in CT. Not since visiting out west, I will say the most authentic & Best tacos I’ve gotten since I came back to CT was at a food truck by the Waterbury mall.

This place is just fine if you like bland uninspiring Mexican food. The enchiladas are boring and taste like something you might pick out of the frozen food section. The chimichangas are slightly better, but also bland. The help seems confused and in no real hurry. The seating is fine, the drinks are okay and it is clean inside raising the experience up to two stars. You can do better elsewhere.

Bought a $ 25 groupon for two. My husband wanted to try it for date night. We were seated promptly, but didn’t receive any service for over ten minutes. Once the waiter knew we had a groupon he was very annoyed. Took our drink order, and came back for a food order. He wanted to see my groupon and he read over it, and said our food will be out shortly. Food came very quickly, however it was average at best. For the prices they were asking for, I would have expected much better. We received no service after that. No refills, no «hows your food?» nothing. He walked by us numerous times and we had empty glasses. Until we pushed our plates aside, did he come over and ask us if we wanted boxes. Once we got the check, he had added in 18% tip to the bill. Prior to this I had no intentions of even tipping him because he was so bad. When I questioned him about the 18% he said well its just something the computer does, because people don’t always tip the right amount because the groupon. And we don’t make any money off the groupons, so we thats why we do it, then tried to explain to me the tipping system. I was super insulted. I understand the fact that a tip should be based on the actual amount of the meal not the discounted amount. He was very rude and told me well you can tip whatever you want, but thats how the computer does it. I only left any tip in case it was a shared tip pool between all the servers/cooks. And it was much less than 18%, it was only 10% of the total meal. Bottomline, we will never come back. Average food, poor service, high prices. Not worth it.

Wonderful night with my wife. Great margarita and desert. The bread pudding desert special, best I have ever had. Really at a Mexican restaurant. Apps were awesome. Just a great. Family restaurant.

Already back in NJ but had a quick dinner here before attending an Ambit Energy business presentation. Will say you need to try their chunky chili and the chop salad with grilled shrimp will give the actual Mexican dishes a try next time I’m there.

I was very excited to try a new Mexican restaurant but it wasn’t anything over the edge. The environment was very quiet and different. I ended up ordering fajitas(chicken & steak). I got my order and by just looking at the meat and chicken it didn’t look like it was seasoned properly. I started to eat my dish and I noticed a smokey smell. The steam, chicken and vegetables were sticking to the dish and burned. On top of that after eating one fajita It def needed seasoning to even taste like anything. I told the waiter about the dish and he said that happens all the time it’s normal. I will not be back to this restaurant since it isn’t a true Mexican restaurant. If you want to try something that is tasty that you won’t be disappointed try Hacienda Del Sol in Waterbury you won’t regret it. Check it out

Been a Sr Ponchos patron for 20 plus years mostly visiting Southbury. This is our first time at the new Thomaston location. Food good,(really pretty much the same as other Ponchos) service very good, nice bright clean restaurant and bar. Four stars for the overall experience; had fun and will be back.

The skinny — Food is OK Tex-Mex — if you are hungry, you can’t go wrong. The burgers are a above average. Noise level and TV distractions abound. There are more TVs there than a production studio. I don’t need to watch 3 flavours of sports(then again, it is better than watching The FOX Propaganda Network brought to you by a fellow Aussie). You need to seat yourselves away from the speakers if you want to have a conversation with your fellow diners. Keep the TV in the friggin’ bar, get rid of the Karaōke & band on Saturday. Good selection of brews on tap. Full bar. Menu prices are reasonable. The location was a «black hole» for failed restaurants, some good, some not so. Hopefully this joint will do better. The Señor Panchos in Monroe was/is pretty good, so we’re hoping that Thomaston will get a decent place.
