Having spent a substantial amount of time in Southern California, I have a very special place in my heart for taquerias and other magical Latin American goodies. La Estrella is more than just a taqueria, it is a little market that offers all the great grocery and novelty items you might need. Need a fancy belt buckle, boots, or some fun pinatas? You are covered. Stopped in for some lunch, and while the panderia items were extremely tempting, I opted for some tacos. While I CAN order in Spanish, I sound like an ass when I try, so I appreciated that at least one of the women could speak English with me. However, I never feel that this is a requisite or expectation. I ordered a steak and a chicken taco. In traditional taco style, I was served up some corn tortillas with meat, cilantro, and onions. The onions were freshly diced, as they weren’t stinky or made me cry. Hooray! I added a little lime and salsa, purchased my Jarritos, and was in HEAVEN. I am jazzed to have finally made it in to La Estrella and can see myself in here on a frequent basis.
