The chargrilled oysters were excellent! They were full of cheese and spices and served piping hot, and a nice change from the traditional recipe at Acme Oyster House. The special for the night was veal cutlet with crabmeat in a sauce that put me into orbit! It was so tender and a delight to my tastebuds! The cannoli with pistachio ice cream for dessert was a refreshing finish to an outstanding dining experience… cudos to Matthew, our waiter, and the servers that assisted him. I still give Fremins 5 stars even though the hostess that greeted us, I think her name was Melanie, had the personality of a broomstick. The wine list has a 400% markup, really guys, there’s no need to price wine so high. lower your bottle prices and you will sell a lot more… needless to say, I saw most of the patrons ordering beer and wine by the glass… We brought in our own wine and paid the $ 25 corkage fee. In closing, my wife and I would definitely recommend Fremins to our friends and would dine there again if we ever have a reason to visit Thibodaux, it’s an oasis in the night in a sleepy little town!

Had my wedding there. Everything was beautiful! I barely had to decorate. The food was fantastic; all my guests raved about it. Charming, friendly, helpful staff. So glad I was able to get married in such a gorgeous building. It was everything I hoped for and more.

I’ve only ever been here for lunch but each and every time it has been very, very good. There is a nice variety of items on the menu and the seafood is always fresh and delish and a co-worker RAVES about the duck gumbo. The blue plate special is usually an excellent bargain — today was a baked potato that was loaded with crab meat, shrimp and crawfish tails topped with a bit of melted cheese and a small salad. The blue plate special comes with a dessert —(meh) — but it is an excellent value at $ 10.95. Our waitress was top notch, super friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. She also kept on top of the drink service(tea and diet coke) and checked on our table a few times. They are also excellent for functions, have attended two large luncheons here and the food was well prepared and served hot(difficult with a large group, sometimes). The décor is much like a restaurant in the French Quarter — featuring dark wood and high ceilings, and a bit of a rustic flair.

If I worked in this area of the state more often, I’d probably be twenty pounds heavier and have a lot less money. This place is simply amazing. I get sent on assignment in this part of the state several times a year and will purposefully go out of my way to eat out at Fremin’s every chance I get! I haven’t found anywhere that comes close in this area of the state and I’ve tried a lot of the spots. This restaurant basically feels like someone took a great restaurant from New Orleans and placed it in downtown Thibodeaux. The great thing about it is if this restaurant was in New Orleans, the prices would be higher and the amount of food served would be smaller. This place serves bread and two types of butter with each meal. The flavors of the butter rotate and I’ve never had a bad batch. The food is excellent and portion sizes are generous, so don’t order multiple courses unprepared like I did the first time.

i took 2 friends there because I wanted to make sure we had a good experience, although I was warned about their steep prices. The 2 $ 40 each steaks were hard and grisly and the potatoes were cold. Did I mention that they had no record of my reservation?
