A hidden gem for Filipinos! Haha jk. This is a Tilapia farm where you can either catch the fish yourself or they can catch it for you and then you can cook it yourself. They have tables and a pit so you and your family can enjoy the extreme heat by sitting and eating your food. Won’t lie though, the flies can be a bit much but you are cooking fresh fish and you’re located right next to Salton Sea. This place can be missed but it is on 81st Ave and the entrance is this homemade sign. Also, this place is in the town of Thermal. Thermal. What does that sound like to you? We be drenched in sweat but again, it’s a pretty cool place to go.

It’s the perfect fun family fishing and picnic adventure! It’s $ 10 for adults and $ 5 kids(6−12yrs, I think) for entrance and fishing for up to 3 lbs each and you can bbq the fish right away on your grill! Don’t forget to bring charcoal! The best bait is worms! We caught alot of tiny, small tilapia and 2 large ones. You can walk around the property and pick lemons and grapefruit. They also have other fruits and vegetables depending on the season such as camachile, duhat, malunggay, kang kong, dates, etc for purchase. The owners are friendly filipinos! Clean restrooms and easily accessible. There are picnic shelters/gazebos with sinks with running water. We arrived around 10am and stayed until 7:30pm. I’m not actually sure what time they open or close but call ahead to make reservations, they are busy spring and summer! The only annoying thing was the flies. Bring bug spray and food covers/nets to cover your food! You can also sleep there for $ 100/night and also bring tents to camp. I wished they had a hammock because it would of been perfect for the ambience! We had a blast and will be back.:-)

We drove from Sylmar and had a great time. The bungalows do remind you of the Philippines. They were clean and so where the bathrooms. Aside from fishing for tilapia they have grapefruit and lemon trees they let you pick from. The owners are warm and friendly. They also sell homemade dried dates which were really good. If you go be sure to make a reservation. You need bring your own supplies eg food, beverages, bbq, fishing poles, ice etc. there is a small store at the gasoline station for minor things and worm bait. We just went this weekend and there were only 2 other groups there but I heard the weekend reservations are getting full for the summer… There is NO swimming there and can get hot so be ready if you go in summer. Otherwise will definitely be back.

Our family and friends highly recommend this place for family camp out with lots of things to explore. They have plenty of fruits and vegetables that you’ll for sure enjoy like camatchile, malunggay, calamansi, and my favorite little green mangoes fresh to pick and more just depending on the season… They even have a place for kids to enjoy swimming area and Bön fire to roast marshmallow at night… And course don’t forget to bring charcoals to grill your fresh catch tilapia… So plan your next out door camp out here and you will for sure say this is a little Philippines excursion experience!

I couldn’t believe that this place exists in California but it does. This place is good for family bonding. Just be sure to bring your whole kitchen and you’ll be set. They have clean restrooms too. The only let down, I wasn’t able to catch any fish but my friend’s son was too caring enough to give me his small catch.
