The Afro-​American Historical Association maintains a library and archives that includes works of art, photography, books, documents and so forth. There is also a museum on site that is open Tuesday and Wednesday from 10am to 3pm. The museum gives in overview of the Afro-​American experience with a focus on life in Virginia from slavery onward. The mission of the Association is to «educate all, in the African-​American experience while striving to create unity and self-​esteem; To pursue historical and genealogical research, and preserve documents and photographic images that relate to the African-​American experience in Fauquier».
