I would give this place negative five stars if I could. The parking lot is Not adequate for the amount of business that goes through here. I have been there twice and both times I had to park across the street at the college. They don’t have enough people working. I waited 90 minutes for a Texas license and the day I actually stayed it was a lot less busy then my first attempt to get a license there. After my mind numbing 90 minute wait I was refused a license due to the fact that there was a small tear in my Soc Sec Card. I was SOPISSED. This was my third attempt and after almost a total of 4.5 hours of waiting for this license. I asked to see the manager and she said«I can’t read your name» in a snarky voice. I asked the kid in the window that she was assisting what my card said. He read it just fine. Keep in mind that I had say 6 supporting documents including my passport proving my identity. Plus the fact that the tear was by my name and NOT by the actual number(which is why you must present the card.) I give their service a straight up Two thumbs DOWN! I totally believe they have a running tab of how many people they can refuse service. In the 90 minutes I waited, only two lucky people walked out with an actual license. Oh, and how people were trying… So best part, I just looked up what is needed to get a new soc sec card. I only need my passport. What a bunch of red tape bullcr*p!

I’m hesitant to rave about how much I like this DMV. Will the lines get longer here when other Unilocalers discover how much better this DMV is than the frazzle factory near Ellington? If you’re getting a new Texas driver’s license or renewing an existing one, this place is wonderful. It’s never taken me more than 30 minutes to get stuff done here. The staff are friendly and helpful(considering this the DMV, after all). As long as you’ve got your paperwork ready, they’ll get you in and out quickly. One nice thing they do is show you your DL picture on the computer monitor, and if you don’t like it, they’ll let you take it over again. If you’re trying to transfer your license from another state to Texas, you might run into a problem or two, or six as my DW did. When she moved from Kentucky to Texas, her existing KY license had her previously married name, since she hasn’t legally changed her name back to her maiden name after her divorce. Of course, her married name differs from her maiden name, so they were suspicious. They wouldn’t accept the divorce decree or military ID as proof, either. She basically got the run around and every time she came back with another document DMV requested, they would ask for something else. This went on 6 times before she could finally transfer her license to Texas. So I guess the takeaway from this is that if you’re a divorced woman, you’d be well advised to change your name back to your maiden name ASAP.
