I tried Panda Garden after reading many of the reviews and I was quite disappointed. The chicken in my General Tso’s was overcooked to an almost burnt flavor and the broccoli was grayish and limp. My egg roll was the size of my thumb and greasy. The best part of my meal was the house made hot mustard which I had to ask for several times after they tried to push the crap in packet. My advice… steer clear of Panda Garden

We love this place! Chinese food the way it was meant to be. Fresh hot olong tea, great service and fast. The food is awesome and the portion is generous. The prices are very reasonable. I enjoy going here instead of the buffets in town.

Love their food but typically only go at lunch when it is cheaper! If you like spicy try their peanut butter noodles!

The atmosphere is elegant, and the food is served formally. The quality of the food and service is above expectations, however the rice could use improvement.

Best Chinese cuisine in town. Had their Kung Pao Chicken with an egg roll for lunch. Not the best I’ve ever had, but very good and easily the best local Chinese food I’ve found here. I look forward to coming back and trying some other dishes soon. Staff seemed friendly and to remember their regulars.

We found this little gem while passing through on US-41 and figured it was a better option than the generic fast food places around. The place was comfortably busy at lunchtime on a weekday(always a good sign), but we were seated immediately. We like that they provided free tea upon seating us – you don’t see that very often. The lunch specials are available every day and have plenty of options. They come with steamed or fried rice and a crab rangoon or egg roll. Our server was efficient but not at all chatty, and we got our food quickly(10 minutes or less). I had the pineapple chicken and my wife ordered the Empress chicken. We both got the crab rangoon, and it was AMAZING. The filling was creamy and delicious and plentiful, and the outside was perfectly fried. It was so rich and satisfying that I’m glad the meal only came with one. The main courses were tasty, and the veggies were wonderfully fresh. The best surprise of all was how cheap our lunch was. We left feeling satisfied for less than twelve bucks total. Overall a great dining experience, and a place we would revisit in the future.

The food is good! The main course is served with hot tea. Sometimes the main dish is served with a beautifully created flower from a vegetable.

I stopped here due to the previous reviews and I have to admit their pepper steak was out of this world! The egg rolls could definitely be better and the egg drop soup was pretty good. I was disappointed they forgot my fortune cookie though :) I will return again when in Terre Haute, best meal so far that I have had in this town.

Always clean and fresh foods. This place is the first place I l would think of among Chinese cuisine in Terre Haute. I really recommend fish fillet as special foods. It has slices of tofu under yummy fish fillet. I love it. It’s $ 13.99. Worthy to try!

Literally the best Chinese I’ve had the pleasure of ingesting. Ever. That’s saying a lot because I’ve eaten more Chinese food than I care to admit during my short 31 years. Tucked away in a strip mall across the street from Honey Creek Mall, you’d easily drive right past this amazingness if you weren’t looking. My family discovered this restaurant over 20 years ago while we were living north of T.H. We made monthly trips here and I’ve been back many times as an adult. I’ve never been disappointed. Beef w/Broccoli, Sweet & Sour Chicken, Wonton Soup, Sesame Chicken, Cashew Chicken and Lo Mein are just some of my favorites. Panda Garden makes the most delicious crabmeat rangoons you’ll ever have. Promise. Everyone is served hot tea upon sitting down and the apps and main courses arrive super fast. A nice, quiet atmosphere, clean, inviting and an incredibly friendly staff. If you have room for dessert, try the fried banana. Wowzers! Other reviewers compare Panda Garden to Jade Garden(located behind H.C. Mall), but don’t be fooled. Panda is #1; take it from someone who has tried Jade Garden(once), but has continued to dine at Panda for 20+ years. I’d like to give a shout-out to Stephen, who was once a manager there(in the late 90s). He always remembered my family when we patronized the restaurant. A young, hardworking guy helping to support his own family who lived overseas at the time. He clearly loved his job and was great at it. Are you still there, Stephen?

Have eaten here many a time & the food is always top notch! Panda Garden is a local Taiwanese style, Chinese restaurant. The owners being from Taiwan, not Fujian. As with many Chinese restaurants Panda Garden has a secret Chinese menu, with 100% authentic Chinese dishes. I almost always purchase from this ‘secret’ menu. Owners are nice & I know the chef is Taiwanese(father of my friend), so you can be sure of this restaurants’ quality. Hope Panda Garden keep up good business. Panda Express recently came to town & is sure to give older mom&pop Chinese restaurants a run for their money.

This is excellent Chinese food. Their sauces are light and tasty. Their lunch dishes are well portioned and prepared with fresh ingredients. The best part of all is that they are reasonably priced, $ 11.40 for two lunch meals, one soup and drinks.

This is one of the best Chinese restaurants in Terre Haute. The food is very delicious and the restaurant adds such an elegance to the dining experience. Very friendly and polite staff are always present. Also, reasonable prices; especially at lunch time. If you are in Terre Haute and looking for some Chinese food, look no further than Panda Garden.

Food was great, not sure of the small bowl comments, the only thing I have an issue with is the service, and when looking at complaints I would not doubt that is the issue. The waitress white knuckles fist to let you finish your meal with out trying to yank your food away. Then after the end of a rush service experience we were begged for tips. Sorry the waitress has to go before I will eat there again. If you have a tolerance for staff the food is amazing, you just have to be clear and strict with the waitress she speak no engli she just service you now you tip!!!

Giving the Panda Garden a good review feels a little like cheating since my first love is the Jade Garden across town. I’ll just hope Jade never reads these reviews and I’ll deny, deny, deny… Went in here for a change of pace. Had a nice Honey Chicken with fried rice and tea. The kids liked the tiny tea cups and the dipping crisps. I’ve never had a bad meal here. I’ll be back… on the down low of course

Service was good but food was not. The MSG free wonton soup tasted strange(the wonton specifically) and served in bowls that were too small. The brown rice also tasted bad so I switched to white rice. I ordered shrimp and snow pea which was acceptable, with fresh tasting vegetables. The shrimp was ok but not great. Pricing was very reasonable.

Best and most consistent Chinese food in Terre Haute. The lunch specials are a great value and the dinner portions are best eaten family style because of their large size.

I ate here on Christmas Day while driving from St. Louis to eastern Ohio. I hate stopping for sit-down meals and normally eat Subway in the car, but that and most everything else was closed for the holiday. Chinese it was, then. There was only one family dining when I entered. I waited at the front for a full five minutes before being seated, despite an elderly woman sitting at a back table, slowly working at a laptop, occasionally looking at me(It was clear she had some relation to the people running the restaurant). After finally being seated, it was another five minutes before receiving water and a pot of hot tea. I reviewed the menu for a while and waited again before my waitress returned. I asked if the sezchuan wonton appetizers contained meat and was told yes. I then requested the vegetable dumplings and asked for some spicy sauce on the side. The only response the waitress had was«20 minutes.» I wasn’t entirely clear on what she meant but assumed the apps would come out in that timeframe, so I said ok. I also ordered garlic broccoli and asked that they increase the spiciness. The waitress again only said«20 minutes.» I didn’t know what to say other than ok. The waitress came out a few minutes later and wordlessly set down a large pot of brown watery sauce with scallions floating in it. I had no idea what it was for. About ten minutes later, she brought out the garlic broccoli and steamed rice. I waited to see if my vegetable dumplings would follow, but they didn’t. I assumed she or the chef forgot to include them, so I began eating. The broccoli was delicious. The florets were large and very green, and there were plenty on the dish. They weren’t extra spicy as I requested, though, and that was disappointing. In fact, they were quite mild. Also disappointing was the amount of rice given. The rice was presented in the tiniest bowl I’ve seen at a restaurant — barely enough to eat with three broccoli florets. And it was a long time between waitress visits, so it was difficult to ask for more. That pot if sauce continued to stare at me, but I still wasn’t sure of its use. I tried a bit on the broccoli, but that wasn’t good. I then tried a bit on a bite of rice, but that was unsatisfactory too. I gave up. As I finished the last of my broccoli, the vegetable dumpling appetizers came out. Whaaaaaa? I was stuffed, but I felt obligated to eat at least one. I cut into one and was disappointed. While there was plenty of filling, the dumplings were bitter. I made it through one and wrapped the rest up, not knowing what else to do. The whole lunch was about $ 12 and was one of the strangest meals I’ve ever had. I’d probably only return if pressed.
