Dont order a buffalo burger what ever you do. This establishment took a raw buffalo burger patty and cooked it into an inedible chunk of hard rubber inside a microwave. Then they served the crappy patty on a huge cold bun that made me think of the old«wheres the beef» commercials. This experience was really sad for me because Ive been a customer here since the early eighties, when they actually had live buffalo, great cooked foods, and the best frozen treats around. What a shame, what a letdown.

I was told by several people who grew up in Terre Haute that I had to try this place. They said it had great ice cream and was a local tradition. I thought it was ok. Their ice cream choices are pretty similar to Dairy Queen. The outdoor seating was a sticky mess, but it was nice to sit outside and eat ice cream on a hot evening. A lot of other ice cream places around here have little or no outdoor seating. The prices were a little high, relative to other ice cream places, but I think the portions are also a little larger and the toppings were more generous. I had a pretty ferocious sugar buzz after my sundae. The highlight for me was the playground they have behind the store. It’s not one of those modern, sanitized, safety oriented playgrounds. It’s the kind I grew up using, with metal bars and things that are easy to fall off. I can see why this place is a local tradition. After getting fueled up on a massive dose of sugar, an old sketchy playground is pretty awesome. Maybe it is a favorite for the locals. If you grew up going here, I’m sure it would be full of nostalgia. But for someone who didn’t grow up here, it was good, but not great.

I’ve never eaten here, but everyone who has had anything to say about it is always very impressed with their food.
