Agree with other reviews that hotel needs some updates, but its not that bad compared to the other dumps in Terre Haute. Room was clean, bed was comfortable, and staff was friendly. Our only complaint would be the breakfast — it was really bad! All on all, we’d stay here again.

On our road trip form the west coast to the east coast we stopped by for a one night stay at the Holiday Inn Terre Haute. Out of the entire United States, this by far is the worst hotel out there. Everything was just nasty. The rooms look out into the indoor pool which is just dark and depressing. Walking to our hotel room was depressing since the hallways were so dark. The only source of light were the actual hotel rooms which had huge floor to ceiling windows. like I said looking at the pool or an empty hallway. Not much privacy there. Once inside, it didn’t get any better. Everything seemed dirty. It felt like we were staying in an hourly motel… complete with floor to ceiling mirrors next to the bed. It didn’t help that they also put us next to the side entrance so all night you heard people going in and out of that door. It was loud. I would NOT recommend the Holiday Inn Terre Haute.

Lyndsey at the front desk was very nice and accommodating(early check in, extra nice to kids, etc.) Our room smelled TERRIBLE. Opted for a room close to pool because we had our three small children with us. Pool rules were strictly enforced(no food, no glass… even in a bag) during the DAY. The pool rules state that the pool closes at 10pm. There were people swimming(loudly) until 10:45 when we were there. Our three small children could not sleep due to the noise. Businesses should not pick and choose what rules to enforce. We got a government rate of $ 83 +tax but our card was charged $ 129. Front desk explained it would adjusted at check out. Didn’t adjust in our bank account until days later. Breakfast was mediocre. Thank goodness we had a coupon. Not sure I’d pay $ 5 for it. And not allowed to take a yogurt or box of cereal with you.

Hotel is conveniently located of of I-70. There are a lot of great restaurants and shopping near by. Hotel has a nice pool and recreation area if traveling with children. I was disappointed in the cleanliness of my room. Blood on curtain, debris in tub from in thorough cleaning and no ice maker.

Stayed here for two nights for a conference. Staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is sorely in need of an update. My room smelled of stale smoke and dirt — a musty smell that permeated everything. I moved the nightstand to access an outlet and found the area behind the nightstand to be dirty and unkempt. Everything from the lamps to the carpet to the linens was dated.

I agree with other reviews, the staff is not friendly at all, nor accommodating in any way. I will not stay here ever again.

Every time I end up in the area, I stay here. The staff is always friendly and the rooms are clean. This place has a pool and a nice work out room(treadmills, stairmaster, stationary bike, plus a weight machine). I also like the fact that there is an attached bar. I prefer continental breakfasts, but the breakfast buffet here is okay. There are a lot of places to eat nearby and access to I-70 is really easy.

Stayed here in October and had such a good experience. I booked it for my son’s graduation in May. Here it is day 2 of our stay and I can’t be more disappointed. Started small, no soap or shampoo in the bathroom. Today, it is 5:30 in the afternoon and my room is STILL not made up. Called the desk at 3:00, went down to the desk at 5:00(desk person was no where to be found) returned at 5:30 again to an empty desk. Banged on the counter and lo and behold, there was the desk person! Had to explain AGAIN my room was not done and told them they would not be charging me for the night. Told me he could not authorize that and I said then find someone who can. Totally unacceptable. The good news is my son graduated and I will NEVER have to stay at this hotel! Go to the Hilton Garden Inn instead. And I only gave it one star because I could not do zero, which is what it deserved.

We have been traveling to the Parke County Covered Bridge Fest for years and have been staying at another near by hotel chain. Two years ago the sold the property and we were forced to try another hotelier were very disappointed in our first choice! This year we decided to go with Holiday Inn in Terre Haute. Prices were reasonable for the Fest season. Accommodations were AWESOME! We booked adjoining rooms and were given great rooms with every amenity the hotel had to offer just steps from our door! We did have some car trouble on the way in forcing our family to split up and arrive on separate days… THANKSTOTHEFRONTDESKSTAFFWEWEREABLETOCHECKEVERYONEINATTHESAMETIME!!! They went beyond the call of duty not just once but twice… as i managed to dead bolt us out of one of the rooms!

Great staff and clean hotel. We stayed here for 4 nights and enjoyed every minute of it. The lobby lounge is neat and tidy and the coffee machine is #AWESOME(anything Bunn is IMHO). The front desk staff was kind, pleasant and had a great vibe about them. THe cleaning staff let you know who was in charge of the cleaning and prep of your room(that was a nice touch). Our cleaning person(Melissa) took pride in the room and left it sparkling every day. She even let us know that my night cap was cute. Free breakfast was #AWESOME. THey even have an omelette chef making custom mixes of fillings, etc. I highly recommend this hotel just for the staff. it is a 30+ year old facility, but it is kept up well and is clean. If you are points members(Priority Club) the experience is even more personal.

Got a great deal off Hotwire — never paid so little for a Holiday Inn room. We drove all day from the Jersey Shore and collapsed in this hotel which had large rooms, a dirty whirlpool, and an eerie vastness that makes you think the place could be overrun with zombies at any moment.

Best Value in Terre Haute. In 2008, I spent 3 months working in Terre Haute on a big project. Naturally I got bored staying in the same place, so I shuffled around different hotels nearby, including Hampton Inn, Hilton Garden Inn, Drury Inn & the Best Western. After lots of exploration, I’ve found that the Holiday Inn has everything & more for a great price. If you have a corporate rate, even better(just say you’re with the university). They’ll include breakfast and a drink at the bar Mon-Fri. The staff are very friendly, you’d be surprised what you can get just by asking.
