We went here for a late lunch based on the Unilocal reviews. Boy, am I glad we went out of our way to go here! The owner greets you when you walk in and immediately starts feeding you if she knows you haven’t been there before. We had 2 samples of the jambalaya and it was awesome. We ordered brisket and sausage, and red beans and rice. The brisket is moist without being too fatty, and everything has a wonderful flavor. We got more to go :) You will not regret going here!

The pork loin sandwich and chicken jambalaya were awesome! Be prepared to wait in line, but it is well worth it! Other members of our party raved about the beef BBQ sandwich, so I’ll try that the next time.

Had to return a second time on our way back to Dallas. Jambalaya, brisket, ribs, chicken and sausage. And the cucumber salad. Everything is really tasty. And the lady owner is sweet. As you come in, and she knows you’re not a regular… yet, she’ll give you stuff to taste, and you’re hooked. Smart! Can’t wait to come back. Still have to try desserts.

After reading the fabulous reviews of this place, we made our way to see Kim. We arrived at about 4:15pm. Kind of early for dinner, but we were between activities this evening and the only time we were free. The parking lot was empty save for one person taking carry out to his car and when he heard that it was our first time, he assured us that we were in good hands. Kim greeted us effusively at the door as we exchanged Korean greetings(Annyeong Haseyo) and immediately brought out samples of Jambalaya on rice(awesome), and a BBQ sampler plate with Brisket, Sausage, and rib. The brisket had a smoke ring with medium smoke, but were on the dry side – probably because it was the end of the day. The Ribs were divine. Maybe I will ask her what she recommends from her pit next time we go. I told Kim that I wanted the BrulGolgi – Boneless Korean Beef BBQ with Rice and Kimchee. She said she had just one portion left(sob) but it was stupendously good. Seriously. Think smoky beef that has been deeply marinated in authentic Korean sauce then caramelized on a grill and sprinkled with generous amounts of sesame seed and green onion. The Kimchee portion is also generous, of medium heat and fresh(versus tangy from fermentation). I also ordered some Yaki Mundo(aka Gyoza). At $ 5.99 for a dozen, these caramelized pot-stickers were perfect. Crispy, thin wrapper with no waxy or tacky bits, delicious meaty filling and a tangy soy based dipping sauce. Sad that we could not have more BrulGolgi, I asked is she happened to have Kalbi(Beef Ribs) even though they were not on the menu but a review said she served them. The Bul Golgi was good, the Kalbi is stupendous. The smoke was even stronger, the connective tissue was tender and succulent and there were caramelized bits on the bones. Throughout our visit, Kim treated us like family and kept checking on us while she cooked for us and other customers. We have already planned our next road trip to come visit and will call ahead to have her save our portions! Kamsa hamnida, Hyun Soon Kim!

Excellent. We liked the food and Kim, the owner so much that we had her cater our daughters wedding. She has the best jambalaya this side of Florida, and yeah, I know what I said. Great food and great friends.

I’m writing this mid-meal because it’s that good. Aside from great conversation from Kim, this place hasn’t done me wrong in the three times I’ve been there. Bul Gogi — equal to my Korean mothers recipe. Sausage — best I’ve ever had. Jambalaya(with Kimchi on the side) — has changed the way way I eat Jambalaya forever. I will not stop until I try everything on that menu.

Great Food… and even Better Service. Stumbled in by chance and enjoyed The meat sides alike. Friendliest service I have seen in a long time.

Best BBQ Ribs I have ever had. The brisket was so tender and everything had the most wonderful flavor. We almost didn’t go in because it was so small but the smell lured us in and we are really glad we did. Great prices lots of food, my 2 grandchildren loved everything. The lady gave me samples and way to go I bought more because of that. Do not go past Temple without giving this place a try.

The lady working here was so nice and welcoming! She even gave us samples off the meat. She made sure to state, several times, that there are no refunds if you don’t like it. I tried the brisket and sausage. They weren’t bad. I ordered the brisket plate with beans and cole slaw. She completely drowned my brisket in barbecue sauce. I don’t care for sauce on my brisket so it would have been nice if she put it on the side or asked me first. She had her back to me so I couldn’t see what she was doing when she poured on the sauce. Unfortunately the sauce was AWFUL. It might not have been so bad if there was just a small amount. It’s too bad because I really wanted to like it. Who wants to throw away $ 10 for bad inedible food?

Thought about this place again as it has been a while since I moved away to DFW, but seriously good bbq and one of the nicest owners in all of Temple. Smoker is outside and the meat is really well done here. I came several times and never had a bad meal. Also the owner here really loves to cook and is passionate about her work. Frequently she’ll offer little bits of what has just come out, and every bit of it is delicious. Despite what you’d think, she also makes one of the best chicken jambalayas you’ll probably eat. Definitely worth coming by, and miss this place constantly.

Kim’s got your BBQ(tangy not sweet sauce), she’s got your jumbalaya, she’s got your chicken fried rice, she’s got a little of it all! And friendly too! «Free samples but no refunds!»

Some of the best food in Temple. It’s a must try. I’ve had several things and they’re all great. Chicken Jambalaya is amazing and so is the bulgogi. She will let you sample a few things if you’re unsure. Highly recommended.

I found this place on Unilocal and I am so glad I did. Don’t let the outside fool you or even the lady behind the counter. She does some amazing bbq. It was some of the best iv had in a long time! She gave us sample after sample. Everything was amazing she was even making a Korean beef and brought us samples. I sampled everything she had available and ended up taking a plate to go. I will definitely be making a trip from Dallas back here just for the food!

Wow, completely baffled on the reviews. There was a sticker on the frig that said«our customers love us on Unilocal», so I’m wondering if all of these are authentic. The positives: The owner was a very sweet lady. She was engaging, and wanted to make sure I had everything I needed. The portions were on the robust side. She even added in a small portion of soup. The negatives. Wow, the BBQ is really not that good… at all. It’s always a bad sign with they slather the BBQ with sauce before they serve it and that was the case here. The brisket was kept in a steam warmer. There was no smoke ring and very little flavor. It’s hard to imagine that it was smoked. The owner said«it so tender it falls apart. Well, that’s not a good sign. The brisket was way overcooked. Sorry, but this was some of the worst BBQ I’ve ever had. The restaurant itself is exceptionally small. I think there was four tables, with a total of about 10 chairs. The décor is almost non-existent.

This place was hands down amazing. My friends and I were in Temple for a volunteer event and didn’t expect to find food this great. When we entered, the lady greeted us and just started handing us free samples because she could tell it was our first time there. She was just so nice and friendly to us. She even checked on us several times during our meal and kept holding a conversation even though she was really busy. She deserves 6 out of 5 stars. I had the brisket, and it was SOO juicy and delicious. It didn’t even need the sauce, although the sauce was yummy too. It was some of the best meat I’ve ever had, and I have lived in Texas my entire life. My boyfriend got Korean style ribs which just fell perfectly off the bone and had an immense amount of flavor. Next time we are in Temple, we will definitely be back! I’ve now been converted into a BBQ believer, and you will be too.

I couldn’t resist all the great reviews about this place, so I had to come see for myself. I actually stopped by once before, but it was closed :(Then, I forgot all about it until another Unilocaler posted a review and pics from his recent visit(thanks Chris M.!). I made sure to go when they were open this time. Inside is a very tiny dining area where we were instantly greeted by the owner, Kim. I explained to her that it was our first time here and she immediately told us to grab some spoons. She gave us samples of chicken jambalaya, brisket, and sausage to try and all of them were very good! I chose to get the brisket plate because it was tender, smokey and delicious. You get two sides with your meal and unfortunately, she ran out of her homemade potato salad. So, I opted to get the cucumber salad and red beans and rice. Pit Stop BBQ is unique because it also offers Korean cuisine. My guests chose the bulgogi plate, which I sampled. It was good, but a bit too peppery for my liking; although, the kimchi was definitely on point. Kim is a one-woman show because she prepares, cooks, and runs this BBQ joint by herself — all with an upbeat personality. I definitely will come back to try her other entrees. Please support this small local business and show her some love!

It’s simply the best damn BBQ in the area, hands down. Never fails. Always smokey good and quality fresh, always tastes great, and it’s the only BBQ leftovers I will eat if I take some home. Lots of great things about this place: — She(owner) adds her own Korean twist for the seasonings and rubs that makes the flavor unique and tasty. — Meat is always fresh, tender, and juicy. Never ever had a dry experience here. — Special dishes = Jap Chae Noodles(authentic) on Fridays; Korean Chicken & Beef w/rice; and the Chicken Jambalaya is literally award-winning. Po-Boy Sandwiches are large and filling. — Love the side dishes = kim chi, coleslaw, beans, marinated sliced cucumbers; homemade potato salad is superb. — Seriously — — all the meats are phenomenal: beef ribs, chicken, pork ribs, pulled pork, sausage, and brisket! Good luck in picking just one. — Two kinds of sauces: one regular, one spicy hot. I usually ask for a 50⁄50 mix. — She always gives out samples of her food for everyone to try, so don’t be shy because she sure isn’t. — Brand new fans added to the store! Now it’s super cool on those hot Texas days with hot and juicy BBQ! It’s so damn good that I always buy extra to take home with me as it keeps very well in the fridge. Everyone in town will know you were at the Pit Stop because that smokey goodness lingers in your clothes, so word to the wise = schedule those important meetings before hitting this place up. Prices are reasonable and service is always friendly and personable. She has a lot of repeat customers who she knows by name as she’s always eager to please to make sure everyone’s had an enjoyable experience. I’ve often asked people(at other restaurants) «what’s good here?» as some will say«everything is good!» even though that’s not really the case, however, I can honestly say that this is the ONLY place where that saying holds its weight in gold: everything here is good, and I do mean everything. They’d easily outsell a lot of the Austin BBQ places if there was a showdown — — Lord have mercy on them cuz she’s definitely a Master of The BBQ Craft.
