Great food, but in three visits, all at lunchtime, I have had two mix-ups on food orders, and more than a 40 minute wait each time for delivery of food. Most recent meal was comp’d by the manager without my even saying anything because they messed up the order and the delay was so long. If I were to guess, I’m pleased that they focus on quality of food for delivery, but need more staff, or a better method to handle a full restaurant. Would love to have another meal when it’s outside of peak traffic time, otherwise I’ll be steering clear.

A nice, homely, local joint to enjoy breakfast.!! Great Steak and Eggs.!! Go try them and see for yourself, it’s just a nice, small-town vibe with good eatin’. This place definitely has a loyal following and I can see why. I highly recommend.!!

It was just okay to me. The service was slow and the food was bland. Pretty pricy for what we had.

Best brunch in town! I had the Western Omlette with their homemade rye toast. The asparagus was cooked to perfectfully. The staff is friendly and helpful and were able to address particular needs. The food is amazing, I highly recommend visiting this gem of a place.

Great food, great service. I had the deviled eggs for an appetizer & lamb burger with fries. Both were very good. With tea the bill was $ 21 so a little pricey but worth the visit.

Yesterday Wednesday, Jan 27, while in the area, and hungry I stopped in for a bite and wanting to check out Megg’s. The staff was superb ! Bending over backwards to make everything right. A clean facility, and comforting ambience. I ordered the two piece fried chicken and broccoli, along with a cheesy pasta dish, very good by the way. A lentil soup, very good. The facility was wonderful as well as the staff. I give this café four(4) stars. I thought it was a little costly. I will be back and will recommend this to anyone.

My family and I have visited Megg’s every Sunday for as long as I can remember. The service has consistently been outstanding. Moreover, the atmosphere is causal and open. If the weather is nice, you can sit outside and enjoy your meal. First, the food is outstanding. Normally, I have breakfast. Chicken and waffles are my favorite, but I’ve branched out and tried scrambled eggs, bacon, and toast. My wife likes the eggs Benedict, and my daughter loves pancakes and bacon. They have something for everyone, so it’s hard not to find something you would like. Second, their lunch and dinner menu is hard to beat. Their cheese burgers and chips are delicious. On the dinner menu, I love their fried chicken and Mac and cheese. My wife usually gets the shrimp and grits. She craves them!!! Last, we cannot leave without visiting the bakery. They have cookies, cupcakes, muffins, and a nice selection of bread. My daughter loves the chocolate chip cookies, and I can’t resist the peanut butter cookies. Overall, Megg’s rates as one of the best restaurant in Temple. I encourage all my friends to go by and give them a try. I have yet to receive a complaint.

I had the pastrami hash. My other half had the soup of the day which was a chicken vegetable if I remember correctly. I also got her a gluten free cookie for dessert. Café was PACKED and clean as a whistle. I ordered to-go and it was pulled together in 10 minutes or less. Now to the food, AMAZING! Didn’t think that Temple would have such a quality place but everything was made fresh and you could tell. Wait staff was very pleasant. I don’t hand out 5 stars, check for yourself, so this place deserves your business. Thank you!

I went to eat at the much hyped, Meggs Café, expecting to have a magical experience. To start off our waitress took forever to get our drinks. But that is neither here nor there. I ordered Brochie French toast. I wasn’t told that they were out of the fruit topping, so I was served plain French toast with syrup. Not asked if I wanted something else to replace my order. But that wasn’t the bad part… As I pick up my fork and knife to take a bite of my French toast I notice a white clump on my plate right next to my food. I poke it with my fork, it STUCK to the white clump. It was gum, GUM was on my plate!!! My husband right away notifies our waitress, she was completely brain dead to what was happening and simply took the plate to replace it. No apology nothing. My mother in law searches for the manager and let’s get know what happened. She also tells her that when she was given her coffee she had left over red lip stick on her cup. So 2 strikes. They remake my order, give me a clean plate and fork. At the end of our meal the food was decent. The total came out to be well over $ 75. But my whole family was left wondering what exactly we paid for. Was it the poor service, the freshly chewed gum on my plate, the left over red lipstick? We didn’t end up paying for our drinks or for my plate of food. So it was about $ 50. Then we used a gift card. So $ 20 for 7 people. Needless to say, we will not be dining at Megg’s Café ever again. Very over priced for mediocre food. We will be sticking to Cracker Barrel.

Have been here twice since I’ve moved back to Temple and this place reminds me of several good spots I left when I moved from Austin. The breakfast is great, waffles and pancakes are the best I have had. Potatoes are awesome, eggs fluffy and good(scrambled). Coffee is good also. For lunch I have had the chicken and waffles, also tasted the chicken banh mi, fried chicken is the best in the area, as stated earlier waffles are the best I have had. Banh mi is good, I like a little more authenticity to my banh mi sandwiches and there for I like mine a little stinky from the fish sauce. But this was a good sandwhich for those who can’t find or stand the odor of an authentic banh mi. For this area, you can’t beat this place. Clean, original menu, service is great, price is good.

Ooo… lala…this place is fabulous. I meant to get here before 3 but didn’t make it until nearly 4:30 — BUT was happy to learn that they now serve breakfast ’til closing. We started off with pretzel roll and spicy pimento cheese. Very tasty… happy start to meal. I got the pastrami hash but substituted the poached eggs for scrambled eggs w/cheese. This was a party in my mouth. Soooo good. It’s a must try. He got a half stack of buttermilk pancakes and sausage. The pancakes were light, fluffy, and filling. You get 3 small patties per sausage order. I will definitely be going back. I want to try the butter pecan pancakes and the meatloaf sandwich soon.

This is probably my favorite spot to eat at whenever I’m in Temple. Sure the prices may be a bit high but the food is well worth it! I’ve had the fried chicken which was amazing. It had great crispness and flavor to it. That came with a mac n cheese which was very rich and cheesy and a side of veggies that might’ve contained the best tasting okra I’ve ever had(not fried of course!). I’ve also gotten their pastrami ruben and their pretzel bites which are my absolute favorite! Overall, a must try spot if you are ever in the area.

This place was awesome. For an appetizer I had the hush puppies and it had extra meat and a great jam. It was a sweet/salty/oily awesome combo. The lunch options were also varied and the entrée I got was equally delicious. For the price… the freshness and flavors are fantastic. Give it a try!

When I knew I was moving to the Temple area, I asked a couple of my friends who already lived here where the best place to get lunch was and both of the said Megg’s, and boy were they right! I only have an hour for lunch so I’m usually pretty hesitant on sitting down somewhere for lunch, but at Megg’s, it was not a problem at all. I walked in and was offered a seat at the bar since I was dining alone. My server greeted me very quickly and suggested their lunch special that day, which was a Phở-type soup. I went with the lettuce wraps and the deviled eggs, and both were delicious and I would order both again every time I go back! The bill was a bit pricey considering I got 2 appetizers and a tea but the quality of food I ate was worth the price! I can’t wait to come back to Megg’s again for lunch very soon!

Wrapping up our weekend while visiting our daughter at Baylor we decided to stay in Temple Texas as a change of venue. Temple is about half an hour from Waco and a cool little town! Not knowing where to eat of course we relied on Unilocal for a referral and after seeing over 200 reviews all generally positive about this place we decided to give it a try for Sunday brunch! True to most of the reviews this place had a line out the door when we arrived so we quickly placed our name on the list and had about a half hour wait. But it was worth it! Everyone here was very personable and friendly and we proceeded to order based on reviews and were not disappointed. I think for me the overall experience of the restaurant made it all the more enjoyable! Lively. Full of locals as well as out of towners you felt you were in a place that really cared about their patrons! Our server was Mariah and she was very nice and attentive! The Pecan pancakes were as described like taking a bite out of a really good pecan pie! And the coffee was really smooth and good! Strong but good! Needed for my drive back home! My family enjoyed Meggs and we would highly recommend this place if you’re ever in the Temple area. Located in a nice part of town its definitely a favorite of the locals! Great food, great service!

Service was amazing, food was delicious, what more do you need? I live in Austin but I would drive to Temple just for Megg’s asparagus salad. Grilled asparagus, wild arugula, radish, six minute farm egg and parmesan with charred lemon vinaigrette. Instead of croutons(which I usually shove to the side), they used a bread crumb concoction that added another dimension of texture(I’ve been watching too many episodes of Chopped, for sure). I added grilled shrimp, which could have used some more charring, but it makes for a great lunch. I ordered the small portion because I also wanted to try the beet salad. It was good too but I would definitely get the full-size asparagus salad next time. For my bevvie, I had one(yes, just one) Elderflower Fizz: St. Germain elderflower liqueur, deep eddy vodka, bubbly

This is my favorite restaurant out of Austin. It is a bit of a drive from where I live but we consider it a treat each time we come out here. It does kind of remind me of a Marie Calendars, but the food is surely on a higher level here. I’ve wanted to come for breakfast but we’ve only been here for dinner. They do have a breakfast for dinner option on the menu. I’ve had the wagyu steak, the spaghetti, and the fried chicken. The wagyu steak was my favorite, cooked correctly and served with more than a couple side seasonal veggies. The spaghetti was also tasty but I’m more of a meat person. The fried chicken came in three big pieces, and two sides, it was a lot. The chicken didn’t give me that«wow» feeling I got after biting into the steak or a fork full of the spaghetti. The deviled eggs and brussle sprouts with sorghum are great, we even ordered extra fries, all the apps and sides look good and I’ll be back to try more. Their drink menu changes but I’ve never been disappointed. The last drink I had their was named The Kanye, and it was awesome grey goose and malibu with lime. For dessert I tried the cookie with ice cream. The cookie was yummy but I wish they’d give a bigger scoop of ice cream. Service has been very on point each time we go. Servers are gracious and genuinely kind people.

WOW! What an unexpected treat. A coworker and I were looking for a healthy place for lunch that wouldn’t leave us with a heavy stomach for the rest of the day. We were a little apprehensive to go here since it seemed to be very bread/bakery focused. Boy were we wrong! They had AMAZING fresh salads, beautiful local veggie appetizers and everything was light yet exploding with flavor. I had the beet, apple and goat cheese salad with chicken and it was phenomenal. The field pea hummus was light and delicious also. Washed down with a cold iced tea and all with super friendly, courteous service. Can’t beat it!
