Rio Buffet & Bar

This place gave me the creeps! The only reason I went was because my cousin’s birthday. I don’t eat from buffet places. However, this place make you not want to eat from any Buffet places EVER! UGH! The only thing I ate was sushi, rice and fruit (and prayed over that)!

Not sure why this place is still opened and why the health inspector haven’t shut it down! They must be paying someone under the table. Ok when me and my kids showed up we thought we was getting a great deal for crab legs. All you can eat they say just a few bucks they say! NOT first of all the carpet when you walk in was like that carpet at the movie theaters (sticky and smells) gross. Ok so we sit down at a booth table. We get up to go get those crab legs. Small spider legs why no meat at all. They look like baby crab legs. So we moved on and get the rest of the food. That was a mess also. Food was over seasoned and greasy! Now here is the health department issue. While seating at the booth we noticed bugs! Not a big but bugs. Like bed bugs! My daughter kept complaining of something biting her. What! Then a roach came from under the table to say what’s up. Once this has happened I asked for the owner. The owner claimed he didn’t see anything and did we catch it! Really ok got kids couldn’t ask for a refund cause it was already paid for. Never ever ever ever going back here ok! If you eating here eat at your own risk! I’m just saying

All you can eat seafood! Well as long as you stick with the shelled food, keeping in mind not to eat the mushy nasty dead carbs that have been cooked, don’t look down at the floor for mice running wild — you might have a good experience.

Hi. My youngest daughter and my self went to the buffet this evening to have a nice dinner and have a nice outing after school and sports. I got very sick ill as we walked to the car I had a terrible abdominal pain started to sweat and felt like I could vomit? I took sick in the parking lot at the front door. My daughter went inside and ask for help and no one came out to help or to assist. Ask to speak to the manager in the manager took offense when I tell her that I wasn’t feeling well and I had taken very ill in the parking lot and she was like oh it must have been something that you ate my food is fresh my food is good you the only one that got sick? I have never experienced anything like this in all of 47 years of my life. The bathrooms are filthy and nasty they only have running water in one of the sinks in the bathroom? This place is nasty and disgusting I wouldn’t recommend no one to go here the food is not fresh it’s cold and I don’t think this is the cleanest place that you could offer to take your child to have a nice dinner? Please think about going here? It was a mayo large container on the counter opened with a large spoon in it.. It looked like it had been sitting for some time. I’m gonna call the health department and have them do a investigation on this place. Thank God I’m feeling better. This place is horrible !!! Don’t eat here at all. It’s not a wise choice

We won’t be coming back. This place was once the only buffet in the area that we would go to. However the previous times that we’ve gone it just wasn’t good. Fiancé suggested we go to the buffet since we were in the area, I really wasn’t into the idea and even tried to convince him to go somewhere else. But he really likes the hibachi so we went. They have lobster today. So it was 17 for drink and buffet each. I started with a salad of lettuce, cucumber and croutons. Everything was stale and smushy. Then when I went on to the food, there was no steamed shrimp, no lobster (obviously) and no crab cakes. That’s all I really wanted so I waited there with my plate, along with other people. Finally lobster and steamed shrimp come out. Still waiting for the crab cakes I decided to get some melted butter. It’s empty. Okay… Well I’ll go get some old bay. Empty too. Finally the crab cakes come out and then I didn’t finish even half my plate just cause nothing tastes good. I did get two bowls of wonton soup which is very good there, but certainly not worth $ 17. My poor fiancé threw up all his food in the bathroom, and again at a supermarket on the way home. Maybe next time he will listen to me, right? We won’t be back.

this place i wouldn’t even give it a 1… found a dead roach n my n another person had a roach crawl on there table… i have been there in 3 year so if né thinking about going good luck n check ur food before eating.

I thought I have seen it all… when it comes to «Living in DC!» I say this in quotes because the things you see living in this city is an action flick and comedy show in itself! This place has opened me up to a whole new world of «things to do» and night life on Friday nights in the DMV.
Scene of the Crime: A birthday party celebration, last Friday, for a good friend at the Rio Grande Buffet and Bar. Up until this night, I had never heard of this place nor did I know what I was getting myself into.
What I encountered was one of the most bizarre, fun, ratchet, crazy «Friday Nights» that I have experienced in a long time! I mean if there is a place with decent food, fun or the happening place to be in the DC area… you can bet I have been there. Well, this time I was proven wrong. I clearly was the odd ball outside looking in! From the moment stepping into this place, I had a blast!
Tell me where in this area can you find a buffet, club, bar, karaōke room with a stage and dance floor with an in-​house photographer… ALL IN ONE PLACE! Again…“Tell me where they do that at!?” LOL. In a buffet restaurant… Folks were dancing, drinking and feasting on a full smörgåsbord… at midnight at that! For roughly $ 10 per adult –I’m talking crab legs, seafood galore, American-​Asian food, select comfort food, desserts and hibachi eats all under one roof! In addition, there was a separate bar area serving up the strongest drinks I have ever had! The bartenders were pouring drinks freely… no 10 second count, measuring shot glass, or apparatus in sight. In this room there was even a dance floor in which folks seemed to definitely be twerking, decompressing and releasing the work week stresses. In a separate room, there is a Karaōke room equipped with a mini-​stage, dance floor area and photographer section to capture the nights moment. Not sure if that is a profitable thing anymore these days, especially since everyone’s cell phones are equipped with a camera that’s probably more advanced than the camera equipment the photographer was using! But, for some odd reason, all of the crazy activity in this one place seemingly fit and served its purpose.
Needless to say, a fun time for all! I thoroughly enjoyed my night, the DUI award winning drinks, customer service, and vibe of this place. Unfortunately, I can’t speak to the food because I am sort of a «buffet-​germ-​phobe» and don’t like eating food being picked over by everyone else. But… it did at least look okay! And based on my friends comments, they all said that it was good.
If your looking for decent buffet eating spot during the week or a place… for that Friday «date night one stop shop»…for food, hard drinks, and some dancing… this is your place!
HONORABLE MENTION: Try the «Scorpion Bowl!» This drink will knock you off your feet and bound to give you DUI… on the house! The serving is large enough in that at least three people can drink off this thing.
Thanks Rio Grande for making one of the most memorable Friday nights in a long time… And, shutting me down the next day afterwards where I spent half-​a-​day in bed recuperating from only one drink!

10.99 for dinner buffet! Cant go wrong there. Its basically your standard chinese american buffet smörgåsbord. They have a small sushi selection in the back, unfortunately I was not able to try that since im pregnant and can’t eat anything raw at the moment. They have a good selection of seafood from raw oysters, to shrimp in different variations, crabs, clams, and crawfish. I was pleasantly surprised that the crawfish was fresh and not frozen. A definite plus. This place us definitely worth a try for thier price especially if you like seafood. They also do all you can eat fried lobster on sundays for 11.99.

The food here was soooo good! Omg its $ 10 per adult for the buffet and all you can eat and free refills on the drinks. I went on a Saturday during the lunch hour. This place also has a bar area. How neat! It wasnt that packed in their. The staff that works their, keeps the place clean and are very professional. This place isnt walking distance from a metro. However, Suitland station is close by. So u can go to Suitland station catch a cab from there or get on p12 bus towards Eastover. They also have a movie theatre close by called Marlow Cinema. So once you eat… you can watch a movie! But i definitely give this place 5 stars!

Ahhh so I was right. The best time to patronize is before 730pm. I went again at 6pm and there were very few customers inside. The place looked a lot cleaner, and definitely unintruded dining was a plus. The one drawback is that the food trays are what they 1^st put out when opening. They don’t rotate as much food in and out freshly until true dinner time of 8pm. When they do most of their business.

OK, I raved about the Exotic Long Island in my last review but, I tried the «Scorpion Bowl» tonight for the first time tonight… WOW. It is HUGE, Strong and has a sweet taste. It also comes with 151 in the middle and they light it with fire to give it a cool effect. I think it takes 3 people to drink it all. It’s definitely my new favorite. The food was also good tonight. You can’t beat it for the price you pay.

We tried it out because we heard they were under new management. We will never go back. The food was less than mediocre. And the only hot food was if you got the hibachi. Everything else was room temperature or just flat cold. It took almost 30 for anyone to even come take our drink order then they didn’t come back to the table until we were ready to leave.
I asked to speak to a manager and there was not one on site. They sai they would take the food back and recoil it to make it hot. Um. What is the purpose of having a hot bar if it doesn’t work? Will definitely be contacting the board of health Monday morning. I’m surprised no one has become seriously ill yet.
