The Onyx Apartments

These apartments appear to be beautifully remodeled but since living here for only a month, it is now clear that they were redone very hastily. Since first moving in, I have seen TONS of bugs, our AC has started leaking profusely, our hot water has gone out TWICE for days at a time and the WiFi signal is horrible. The management is just as bad. We were told by two different people that they were going to lower our rent (YAY!) but when we go to check on our new rent price we were told that was not true and that they did lower rent but not for us because we already signed a lease at a higher price. (Oh, well, our fault for being one of the first tenants to move in, right?) Then, later, they contact us again saying «Oh, we are lowering your rent, but to do so you will have to sign a whole new lease and pay a whole new deposit in addition to what you have already paid which will cost you about 1000 dollars to do so». Thanks Onyx. You obviously care about your tenants.
When asking about the WiFi signal, we were told that we will probably have to buy our own modem and router.
As for the leaky AC we were told that we are probably running it at too low of a temp. I really don’t think the AC should leak at any temp, especially at 74 degrees, but what do I know?
Good things that I can say are that they are nice sized apartments, have all new appliances and APPEAR to be in good condition. Underneath all of the fresh paint on the walls? I’m not so sure…
