Kumon Math and Reading Center of South Tempe

This Kumon center has been ranked one of the best centers on the West Coast. The owner and main instructor has been running the facility for 20+ years and has even placed her own children within the program.
I’m currently finishing up my degree in college and owe a lot to this center for how far I have come. I was told to seek help by my teacher in the 4^th grade for math and from then on have only seen an uphill climb to the success that I have seen today in my studies.
As a child naturally I did not enjoy going at times because it was challenging and it will challenge children that are trying to either catch up or stay ahead in their studies. There have been many students that have done extremely well on their SATs and ACTs because of the fundamentals that are taught. The best thing was for my parents to continue to encourage me to go even when I did not want to go.
The owner/​instructors have all done Kumon and completed it. They expect a lot out of the students that go and have an insight as they have all been through it as well. It’s nice to know that in a classroom of college students I don’t have to rely on a calculator or even answer books to do extremely well because of the fundamental knowledge I learned there.

Teacher is not engaging and has a fake smile. They seem more interested in money over our child’s welfare. Stay away.

Started off ok then each week got worse. My kids hated going, it was always so loud and over crowded. Made it hard for them to do their work. Every week we would get home the homework they had been given was wrong. Either not enough for the week or just the wrong work all together. I would call and tell them what the problem was and never got a sorry. I hate nothing more than seeing adults that cant say sorry. The kids were always told they needed to do more work and what they were doing was not going to get them into a good college. Did I mention my children are 6 and 8 years old. I just want them to get a little review and not forget everything over the summer. I feel no need to stress them at such a young age about college. I also see it as more of a conversation they should have with the parent and not the child at that age. I felt that was no lesson for my children to learn and decided to go elsewhere. We are very happy at our new place and they love going. We have started going more often because they love it so much.
