Destiny African Hair Braiding

I wish I could give this place five stars but I can’t. I set an appointment with these ladies one Saturday at 930 and 15 minutes before my appointment one of the ladies asked if they can start at 1030 instead… I drove 35 minutes to Tempe for this appointment so luckily they changed their mind. I pulled up to what I expected to be a salon but it was an apartment but I gave the place the benefit of the doubt. I will say while I was there I was very ill and had a migraine so I wasn’t able to focus as much but anyhow I showed the ladies what style I wanted and that I was in the military so obviously whatever style I get had to be in regulations. These ladies were aware of this because they’ve done plenty of military personnel hair. Both of the ladies worked on my hair and they did finish fast. I took a look at the braids and they were bigger than the picture I showed her. So after I got home I tried on my abu cap in hopes that they would fit and they didn’t. I texted the ladies and told them that they were to big for my cap. I asked the ladies if they could fix them or at least give me a percentage of my money back since I didn’t have them for a full day. They told me that it was unfortunate that they were to big and there’s nothing they can do. I think that was very unprofessional and inconsiderate that these ladies took my $ 200 and didn’t even try to fix the problem. I wouldn’t recommend this place. The prices are to expensive especially since they are doing hair out of an apartment. Just spend the money and go to an actual salon. Also there was a $ 25 off special if you checked in using Unilocal and the ladies didn’t honor the coupon.

I have kind of followed these ladies around in Tempe. They do hair out of the home just as described by others. I’m a east coast lady and we call this bath tub beautician. Sometimes when it’s busy you get both braiders, other times not. Expertise is pretty much standard for the industry. Prices are way too high for braiding out of your home. They know how to work with different types of extension hair while many in valley do not. I have not been in a while because I love the «salon experience.» They are originally from France. If they get a salon, I will definitely call.

The place is nice, clean with a big TV and I was able to pick what to watch.

This was my first time getting my hair braided and Louise was awesome! I am so happy with the way my box braids came out, she was quick and did a great job! I will definitely be coming back to get my hair done with her!

I love getting my hair done at Destiny and adore my stylist. Very professional and does excellent work. I have had my hair done there twice and can honestly say that both times I left extremely satisfied and looking gorgeous!

I Have been getting my hair braided with these ladies for over five years and they never disappoint. I am a physician in the Phoenix area, and I need a hairstyle that is easy to maintain but entirely professional. Louise and Ana have mastered the art of delivering that kind of workmanship.

I wish I could have given this place 5 stars because I really wanted to like it. It was my first visit and I was kinda disappointed.
First off this is not a hair braiding SALON. Louise and Anna conduct business inside their townhouse in an empty bedroom. They have two professional salon chairs and a mirror on the wall next to the closet so you can check out your locks.
I got kinky twists (normally $ 180, but I paid $ 160 because they had a «coupon» going this week). My hair was alright but it wasn’t great. It’s nothing to write about!
Louise braided my hair, alone. I was told there would be 2 braiders doing my hair when I made my appointment. (Which is what they advertise on their website. «Two braiders for braids in half the amount of time.») I was told 15 minutes before my appointment via text message that I would only have one braider so I could basically deal with it or reschedule.
They have a small tv in the room which they connect to their iPad; so we watched a couple of Netflix movies which was pretty awesome.
I feel like their prices are pretty damn steep for them to be braiding hair in their home. If I would have known it wasn’t a salon and they were charging the same prices i would have reconsidered.
Conclusion: I personally didn’t have a great experience, I most likely will not go back.
