8⁄10 on the hipster scale. There’s no energy drink on the market that will give me the same level of a pick-me-up as the cold brew coffee does at Cartel. I enjoy posting up here for a few hours to do some work. The place can be crowded during the school year but doesn’t deter me from going. Parking is a little tricky bc the lot does enforce a 1 hour limit per spot. If I know I’ll be there a while, I’ll park at Casey Moore’s(not sure if thats smart).

Stopped buy to try their beers and I was not disappointed. I had a flight of the 4 beers on tap. My favorites were the Amber rye which had a good hop finish and the Coffee Brown. It is also great to sit and drink good beer and smell the coffee from their coffee bar next door.

This is a really cool place, and you’d never see it from the street or from a Unilocal search(until now). Originally a coffee house, it started a breeding operation about 12 mo ago and now has some great little beers on tap. I am having a 4oz each flight of their five current beers($ 6). The flight includes the 480 Session PA, Desert Pale Ale, F.Y.I.T.M. Imperial IPA, Amber Rye, and Coffee Brown Stout. The atmosphere’s very hip, and not for everyone. Very mellow, good music, and free Wi-Fi(cartelcoffee). Lots of student types, artsy types, and an old geezer or two. No one seems to be here to drink beer?!? Nestled in-between some generic businesses in an ex-apartment complex, there’s limited parking, lots of plywood, and an overriding sense that these people know what they’re doing. Whether you want coffee or good beer, it’s a nice little spot.
