I was referred here by the Audiologist from the Mesa School District when my daughter was in need of new hearing aids but we were without health insurance at the time. Even with insurance, in the state of Pennsylvania it had been a struggle to get her what she needed and she went for about three years without aids. It was suggested that I reach out to ASU Speech and Hearing and hopefully they would be able to assist with a pair of loaners. During my first initial phone call, I’m sure I sounded like a babbling idiot because there was so much information to get out. The next day I received a call back, and after some clarification, was told that they would be able to help me and to come in to have impressions taken for my daughter’s ear molds. They had an opening TWODAYSLATER! I was shocked by how quick we were able to get an appointment. They also gave me information on an organization that might be able to help, The Ear Foundation of Arizona, and through the Hear For Kids organization we may qualify for loaners. I just had to fill out the forms and they would send them in. I was surprised that I didn’t hear back when I was expecting, so I assumed that we didn’t qualify. A couple weeks later, we got a phone call that they were ready to schedule an appointment for the fitting because my daughter was getting her hearing aids. My daughter and I were both so excited. Since the clinic is at ASU, there are students providing the services so it takes a little longer than usual, but it’s worth it. The staff is fairly friendly and patient, and you also get to help a student who is learning. I would recommend this place to anyone who may be in need of their services.
