HORRIBLE! The hostess who was at the front of the house clearly had an issue with some aspect of our party of 6. We came to visit the restaurant for dinner at the recommendation of The wine tasting room where we were staying — The carter Estates. The FIRST hostess we interacted with asked us our name /number and said the next reservation available would be 40 minutes from our time of arrival and took our number down. My husband realized he forgot his phone in our hotel’s bungalow. So, I returned to the front to ask for her to update our number. Another hostess approached and interrupted saying«she doesn’t know what she’s doing, what’s the name». I told her I just wanted to change my phone number on the reservation. She was rude and brash stating, it would be almost two hours from the time we arrived until we could be seated. I told her we already had an existing reservation. Didn’t ask our name, or previous number given. Just replied with«well that’s the wait»… We watched several other Party’s be seated over the time span of an hour and 10 minutes of when we waited for our party to be seated, listening to each of them state they DIDNOT have reservations. My husband(a middle age African American man) asked her politely when we we would be seated and her reply was«the kitchen is behind». So, they were able to sit several other parties without reservations(a total of at LEAST14 ppl) prior to us, in spite of the kitchen being behind… But we had to wait. California is a melting pot of races and Muti– cultural human beings and it was absolutely appalling to receive such blatant discrimination and service. If you arrive at the restaurant and a 20 something young lady with long brown hair greets you, I would turn around and find somewhere else to eat.

The girlfriend and I had a reservation for 2. It was her birthday and I planned 3 days/2 nights at the resort. When we arrived here for dinner, the hostess didn’t seem to be paying attention to what I was saying. I gave her the name on the reservation multiple times, but she continued to ask for the name after each time. I kept calm during the situation. But she gave me a look after she finally got it. Anyways, the wine was good. Service was good. Food was average. Nothing special. I’ve had better food with the same price. We had calamari and shrimp appetizer as well as the flat bread for starters. Ordered 2 prime ribs for dinner and the flourless chocolate cake after. I was disappointed. My expectations were far from the actual.

We have been here many times over the years, this was the worst and probably the last time we will go there. We were the only couple there to request a table and the dining room looked mostly empty. We were told it would be 5 – 10 min wait. OK. After 20 minutes and 3 other couples later(no they did not have reservations) we spoke with the manager and were seated only to wait 10 minutes longer, never receive a greeting, water, anything. We left and stopped to tell the«Assistant to the GM» who really could not give a hoot. This was some of the worst service ever but the«oh well» attitude of the«assistant» was infuriating. They didn’t just loose our business for the meal but also lost my wine purchases and future spa business. We drove down the road and had a great meal with awesome service at Wilson Creek!

Wife and I went here for dinner yesterday. She got the prime rib and I got the filet mignon with scallops. We also had the calamari appetizer. Everything was delicious. Our server, Alicia, was also very nice and had some great suggestions. Overall a great experience.

Our group of 8 came here for dinner after going on the Straight Off the Vine Wine Tour. Our tour guides and the surrounding wineries recommended this restaurant. It was beautiful and had delicious food(although we were slightly buzzed from all the prior wine tasting so perhaps the food tasted better than it actually was lol). A BIGCON: When asked if we wanted soup or salad with our meal, it was not expressed to us that these were NOT included and would cost an additional $ 7 or so! If I had known, I would not have ordered a soup since I wasn’t even that hungry. But to be honest, it was quite a tasty soup… My friend and I split the prime rib and the pork chop. Both great dishes. Prime rib was juicy and came with side of baked potatoes and veggies. Pork chop wasn’t dry and apple sauce complemented it well. The side scalloped potatoes were amazinggg. Our bill came out to be pretty hefty — $ 75 per person for everything with tip added in. Would not come here on a normal night, but a nice place to celebrate my friend’s birthday.

I don’t recommend this place at all. they still charge you a large party fee which i think is way too much. it’s not required to charge a service fee any more in the state of California i guess and the service was suuuuuuuper slow so I don’t think they deserved that tip at all. The menu was super limited and a bit pricey in my opinion. But I did like how they had a live piano player on the weekend. It was a nice touch to the ambiance.

Came in for Saturday brunch… made reservations and got seated right away. Nice ambiance and the staff are all very friendly. We started with grapefruit mimosas, which were delicious! I was hesitant as I’m not a big fan of grapefruit but decided to try it since our server recommended it. The food was all really good too… we had: — Vineyard breakfast, which comes with eggs, bacon(or you choice of other meats), country potatoes and toast. It was a really big portion! — Banana foster pancakes, which was absolutely delicious and will definitely come back for that!!! — Grilled cheese & tomatoe soup, which was tasty. — Fried calamari & shrimp appetizer, sooooo yummmyyy! We’ll definitely be back for another brunch and grapefruit mimosas!!!

Vineyard Rose is a great place for brunch or dinner if you are staying as a guest at Southcoast Winery. It is laid back, yet feels California upscale. Brunch selections are limited but as expected, they have great mimosas and sparking wines. The food is average… nothing memorable, both good or bad. The breakfast burrito was standard, as were the pancakes. We had brunch here on Valentines day weekend and it was extremely busy. We were seated and forgotten for almost thirty minutes. We probably would not have returned except we already had reservations for Valentines day dinner since we were staying at the resort. I was worried that our dinner experience would be less than ideal. However, I was blown away by the personable service and my steak was, shockingly, one of the best I’ve ever had. I’ve dined at some of the best steak houses in Los Angeles, and Vineyard Rose made a perfectly cooked and seasoned meduim filet mignon. I also loved the charcuterie platter, which came with a nice variety of cheeses and perfectly marinated vegetables. Of course, they had an extensive wine selection and the pre-fixed menu price included a bottle of our choice. Service was excellent and they had a talented piano player who wowed us all night. Reservations are available through Open Table, and availability is usually quite good, as the restaurant is huge.

We were part of a tour on Valentine’s Day and were divided up into three tables. We were served drinks and had our lunch orders promptly. After an hour of dinner rolls for the five of us, we watched our other 14 tour members pass by having finished their lunches. We had not yet been served! We inquired and learned that a kitchen crash resulted in glass being shattered all over our food. It had to be prepared again thus the long wait on a tour. We were offered nothing but the original rolls. Because the tour is on a schedule, we had to request our lunches to go. I begrudgingly left a tip because it was an accident. Could have used an appetizer or even a glass of wine though. I love the artisan grilled cheese sandwich and sundried tomato soup and ordered it for our delayed lunch. We either had to eat our lunches on our trolley or at our last stop because the tasting room at our next stop had no seating. A grilled cheese does not sit in a styrofoam box well. When I opened the box, I discovered that the wonderful moisture in the gourmet cheeses is fatal after an hour or longer. The now-cold sandwich had transformed into an inedible pile of bread and cheesy mud! But, I could have soup! Oh, they gave me a knife and fork but no spoon! Glad we were on a wine tour. Okay, it was an accident. But, we sat for an hour plus and offered nothing other than rolls. They had stated that we were part of a tour and knew we were on an itinerary. We all paid the same for the tour but five of our group of nineteen really did not get lunch and my choice was inedible. Too bad. It’s a beautiful setting at South Coast and lunch is normally a highlight on a tour.

Truly disappointing. We walked up to the hostess stand at exactly 1:10 pm and were told that we would have to return at 1:30 for the next table. The dining room was poorly lit but it was obviously only half full. I asked if we could just sit at the bar but they said the service would be really slow. The bar was also barely half full. BTW, this is on a Saturday, not some random weekday. When we finally got our food, their golden bear charcuterie plate was anything but! A weird combination of random grilled/roasted veggies, prosciutto that tasted like deli-counter ham, and large cubes of cheese that tasted like cracker barrel cheddar, this platter is far from classy. The portions are generous, but how do you eat that much meat and cheese with two slices of baguette and a couple of crackers? We would have asked for more but our server was nowhere to be found. We were going to do some tasting but if this is the kind of quality you get from South Coast Winery, no thanks!

Food is… bland. Very, very bland. I don’t know how one manages to make both burgers and chicken sandwiches on toasted ciabatta buns taste boring and bland. It’s a ciabatta bun! It makes dirt basically taste delicious! For what it is, it’s a wee bit overpriced. You’re far better off eating in Old Town Temecula. We were told the wines at South Coast Winery are bad, but that the restaurant is great. I’m thinking everything is bad, period.

This review is SOLELY for the 2015 New Year’s Eve Event — — — — — — — - — — — — — — — — – — — — — — — — — — I once read that when it comes to fine dining, its easy to lose your appetite for it because sometimes it too much about the effort and too little about the result. Here, the effort was for over $ 200 per person — Unfortunately, the NYE event at Vineyard Rose Restaurant for 2015 was genuinely a disappointing result. Why? We thought $ 200 would provide some a level of expectation. For NYE, we got: — a bottle of red wine(I usually remember what it was but it wasn’t memorable); — a lukewarm scallop probably under a heat lamp with some sauce concoction atop a a piece of bread that was too tough to bite into; it was as if the slice couldn’t decide if it wanted to be a croûton or a biscuit. — a sloppy cheese plate with crackers. I’m sorry to say this,(I really am), but this in particular was THE most disgusting thing we ever tasted; the entire plating shifted to one side– probably b/c the food was being rushed out and servers in turn were taking on more plates than they should; — a salad dressed in pecans;(I’m allergic to pecans — so I have no idea how that tasted) — prime rib w/mashed potatoes and veggies — so this wasn’t bad. but it wasn’t worth the $ 200. — some variation of apple pie — — glass of champagne. Aside from the food, the band wasn’t great. No wait, I mean not even good. The ambiance was ehhh. We saw other people request to be re-seated because they either felt that their table was too small given what they paid for or because other tables were too wobbly. The Chef and the owners did make their rounds greeting us and other patrons; and we did exchange some pleasant conversation. Needless to say, banter, no matter how pleasant, didn’t make up for this experience. Bottom line, the NYE event was incredibly overpriced.

Dined at 8:00pm on Saturday, December 12, 2015 There to celebrate my mother’s 60th birthday with a large family party of 13 family members including one in our party who is a celebrity chef. I should note that each interaction, misstep and service delivered its own unique bitter taste of «wtf?!» The first negative experience, I wondered if I was being too sensitive, the second, third, fourth experience I was wondering whether or not the service really was horrific or if it was me. Finally, after about 15 points of poor service, I said something to a few members of my party to discern what they thought of the service, dining experience and food and they all resounded that it was one huge terrible experience. After the experiences, all I could say was this, «I am SHOCKED… literally shocked at how terrible this experience has been and how little the staff has done to correct it… I am shocked… I am shocked». The first 4 people in my party arrived about 20 minutes early. The hostess told us to follow her, where she walked us back to the very back of the restaurant, still following her, we walked passed the table that had been assigned to us because she did not tell us which table was ours, nor did she motion at anytime where we were to sit. Subsequently, we continued following her and then when she was nearly at the bussing station, she turned around and saw us still following her. She pointed to the table where we were to sit and all felt a little awkward because she told us to follow her. Realizing no one else from our party was even there yet, we decided to travel to the bar next to the front door so we could greet our party and avoid the embarrassment of having our guests being mislead to our table. As we sat at the bar, the bar tender was very«hands off», not personable, unfriendly, didn’t smile and although my party bought a $ 40 bottle of wine from the bartender, he turned his back to us the entire time we were at the bar even though he did not seem to be working on anything. I am accustomed to bartenders being friendly, smiling, conversing and at the very least, offering us more service. The awkward hostess then returned to us and found us at the bar… She sought us out to tell us that our food orders have to be in by 9:00pm or the kitchen will be closed. She was abrupt, rude, and unpolished in her delivery. We had a reservation! Why was she rushing us? It was barely 8:00pm. We noticed the very sad and lonely piano which was not being played by anyone, a forgotten instrument, sitting cold, unattended and forlorn on a busy Saturday night in mid December where 8:00pm was the only time available for us to make a reservation. Strange and very unwelcoming, indeed. The server did not ask any of us if we wanted to start with apps as we awaited the arrival of the remaining party members. One of my party realized she knew one of the chefs, Chef Hardwick from high school as well! Two by two or more, our party swiftly arrived and within about 5 – 10 minutes, we were all finally seated but one. We had two 6yr old children with our party. We obviously needed a children’s menu but we were not offered one so I got out of my seat at the table to hunt down the server and ask for one. I could not find our server but I did find another server so I asked him to explain the children’s menu options. We had to ask for bread and butter for our table and when we received it, there were about 8 bread rolls and one small ramekin of butter for 8 rolls. We asked for more butter to accommodate our table. We sat eating bread for about 20 minutes awaiting our delicious food. We received our appetizers and salads which they did not deliver to the person who ordered them, but rather, just placed them randomly on the table which confused our guests who then had to determine who ordered what and if it was intended for just them or if they intended to share the dish with others. The salads we received seemed to have no dressing or hardly enough to even realize it had any and was very boring. Our tomato soups were awful and tasted extremely bland so we sent them back. We understood it was not bisque, but honestly, it was disgusting. We had to ask for more salad dressing with our Vineyard Rose salads and when the dressing came out, it was delivered in a small pouring boat with a near solid consistency. Med. rare meat was actually delivered rare, silverware was practically thrown on the table by wait staff insomuch it bounced upon the table. Very unpolished wait staff… like, wtf. Finally, the runners delivered everyone’s entres but everyone’s order was placed at least one place setting off. Our table spend over $ 700 and received some of the worst service I’ve ever experienced with no concession, no offer, no apology, no compliment, no nothing. I could continue, but to what end? …and there is more that went wrong, much more. Unilocal wont allow me to type it all. I’ll be telling everyone about this experience. Shame on SCW.

I came here for dinner with a group of 7. We were hungry from wine tasting all day and got here at 5 to learn that the restaurant doesn’t open until 5:30pm. We got to the door right at 5:30 and there were a few parties in front of us waiting to be seated. They were seated right away. It took about 15 – 20 minutes for them to prepare a table for us even though it wasn’t even busy. I’m not sure why it took so long. The service was excellent once we were seated. The 2 star rating doesn’t have to do with the servers. It has more to do with the wait to be seated and the mediocre, overpriced food. Out of the seven of us at the table, no one was over impressed with the dishes that we ordered. I ordered the skuna bay salmon. It wasn’t fishy tasting which is good, but it was rather bland. One of us ordered the wild mushroom and duck linguini which was also quite bland and tasteless. The rib eye steak was on special and two of my friends ordered that. It was good, but nothing to write home about. Another ordered the pan seared scallops and said they were overcooked and rubbery. We did mention this to the server who brought out 2 more scallops that were then cooked deliciously. The shelton farms chicken was seasoned alright, but again was mediocre. One friend ordered just a soup and didn’t have much to complain about there. Our bill which didn’t inclue any alcoholic beverages came to over $ 300. It just seemed like way to much money to be spending on food that I could have cooked better at home. Next time I come here I will stick to the tasting room and avoid going to eat at the restaurant.

This restaurant is located at the South Coast Winery Resort and Spa. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and the service is wonderful. The ambience is serene and calm. The food is delicious! You MUST order the Crab with Gruyère dip! It is served with toast and is wonderful to have as your entrée or as a shared appetizer. I would come back to South Coast(skipping the tasting room) just to get this dish!

I came here for lunch. Since South Coast winery was one of the more popular wineries in Temecula, I was anxious to try them. The winery has plenty of awards and displays them proudly. I thought it was ok. Nothing spectacular or over the top here. The restaurant could look nicer. It feels like a very old place inside. I ordered the santa rosa pizza which had goat cheese, mozzarella cheese, prosciutto, carmelized pears, mushrooms, and onions. I really like the pears on the pizza. Everything was great but the pizza just needed something more. It was ok but some more flavor or something. I can really taste the goat cheese which was good. goat cheese is delicious. I forgot the name of the wine but it was a cabernet. It was good. Ask your waiter for recommendations. He described everything well. It was an ok experience. I’m hoping I can go to the tasting room next time. It’s definitely a great place to visit. The grounds are huge but everything is level so the pictures of vineyards may not be that great.

For years, My friends and I loved celebrating birthdays by meeting here for breakfast. In years past they had the most wonderful menu: banana foster pancakes with a special sauce, delicious eggs Benedict made with grilled pork loin, baked pastries at the table, and amazing hash browns. The service was outstanding as well. There must be a new chef. Although the the menu is the same, the recipes aren’t the same at all. It’s tragic that this establishment has sunk so low that the place is pretty much empty in the morning. The service horrible. We waited 20 minutes and had to go ask the hostess to find our waiter so we could order. We asked for eggs Benedict and when it finally arrived, the order was wrong — eggs florentine. It was cold, unseasoned and the potatoes were so burned we could not eat them. The pancake tastes like a standard mix. The sauces aren’t the same. And the pancake was cold. This isn’t the first time it’s happened. The food and service are so poor it’s not worth coming back. It was great while it lasted. With all the new wineries popping up and Ponte next door, we are taking our celebrations elsewhere.

Ordered one of the largest, nicest pieces of prime rib I’ve ever ordered at a restaurant. Was more like a big juicy marbled steak than a prime rib. My friends ordered the steak and lobster, grouper, and scallops. We enjoyed how the two times we asked for bread, different bread came out. Both times it came with delicious garlic butter. We brought 3 bottles of wine from another winery which cost $ 15/bottle for corkage, $ 8 for South Coast wine; that was the only drawback from our experience, otherwise, the food was great, and service was awesome.

Great Hotel but the Restaurant Needs Work on The Food! Villas and grounds are great. Restaurant is so nice and the banana fosters pancakes are so good… but the rest of the menu(taste, quality and presentation) needs work. ~Christmas Holiday Dinner-3 Stars! *Appetizers with dates 3 stars. *Potato Soup– cold with a top layer film like it was poured an hour earlier. 1 Stars. *Scallops-3 Stars AOK *Pork Chop and Belly. this was done right. Juicy and mouth melting 4 Stars. *Dessert was a gingerbread treat-4 Stars. *Price 1 Stars: Compared to other dinners I was looking at this dinner was lacking for the cost. Roughly $ 45 a person. $ 25 seemed more appropriate especially when soup was average. Soup served cold… unacceptable. ~Banana Fosters Pancakes –4.5 Stars Free if you stay here! Sinfully good and I’m sure just as fattening. Sugar and syrup never tasted so good! ~Pistachio encrusted ahi-3 Stars The fish was perfect. Cucumber salad was way too sweet and parmesan cheese bread. not good. ~Service-2 Stars I have had better. Taking into consideration the price, this should probably be 1 star. ~Ambiance-4 Stars Love the décor and ambiance! Dimmed lights and, in one word, cozy! Perfect for dates and families. Overall, AOK!
