The biggest step I’ve made to improving my eating habits was to join a CSA. Upon recommendations from friends and family, I’ve joined the Inland Empire CSA. Ever since joining I have been totally impressed with the quality of produce I’ve been receiving. Everything is so fresh and in season. I feel good not eating food that’s been imported from thousands of miles away. Being a member now for over six months I’ve tried many foods I’ve never had the opportunity to eat before like dragon fruit, passion fruit & jujubes. Gary, the person who is responsible for growing the food seems extremely knowledgeable about current sustainable growing practices and the re mineralization of the soil so everything is peaking with nutrients. You can’t go wrong with providing yourself and your family with the healthiest food possible and the Inland Empire CSA will definitely help you do that.

I love getting their fresh organic produce. We joined about 6months and love it. Gary is always on time and knows so much about how to prepare everything squash to greens. My family is eating so much better now that we have pesticide free food and we trust where it is coming from. The price is very reasonable and the produce is always tasty. I can’t believe the persimmons were all delicious week after week. That is one tough fruit to get that consistent. I discovered different greens and butternut squash which I have never had before. It’s awesome and we feel great blending our fruits and veggies to make green smoothies.

We joined the Inland Empire CSA about 6 months ago. It’s improved my life in so many ways! I’ll start with some general reasons why CSA’s are awesome: 1. Getting a veggie box of whatever is in season forces me to taste and cook with ingredients that I wouldn’t have tried otherwise, and it has been nothing but creative goodness. 2. My diet is much healthier. I know the produce won’t last if I don’t eat it, so I incorporate something from the weekly box in almost every meal. 3. It feels so good to know where my produce is coming from, and to be supporting local farmers. There is something cool about knowing your feioja didn’t come to you on a boat from New Zealand… it’s right from Temecula. I could probably visit the tree if I wanted to! 4. It’s all organic and totally affordable. Expense is the main reason I don’t buy organic and I love that this lets me afford it. Why is the Inland Empire CSA so good, you ask? 1. Affordability. I looked into a bunch of CSA’s and this was by far the best bang for your buck. The quality of the produce is great and our half pledge is enough veggies for 3 people each week. It turns out to be $ 9/person per week, and it’s basically all the organic fruit and veggies you could ask for. 2. Service. The people that run the CSA are very friendly and send out a weekly newsletter with updates from the farms that grow the food, a list of box contents(so helpful when you get something you’ve never seen before) and recipes! Super responsive via email and all-around great. 3. Locations! They have pick up spots all around San Diego county. I bet there is one within 15 minutes of your house. All in all, I really think everyone should try a CSA. It’s been a wonderful experience and I’m looking forward to renewing in January. I absolutely love being a member. Check it out!
