I’m pretty disappointed in this place. The chips were clearly from a bag and stale. That’s pretty much an immediate deal breaker for me. Didn’t get the guacamole we ordered. My order was wrong, the the shrimp fajitas were so overdone. Not good. The décor is very much like Mexico, really pretty. I heard this was authentic but I’m sad it wasn’t better.

Best chilaquiles in Temecula! Authenic mexican food(I used to go to Mexico twice a month so I’m a trustworthy source). I had the chulaquilas verdes and they were delicious! I highly reccommend coming here. Owners are so nice and pleseant and food is so delicious and the coffee has a hint of cinnamon which is amazing! If you’re looking for good mexican food with a family feel, come here!

This place might not be the best Mexican food to everyone, but here in Temecula it is my family’s go to place! If your lucky your hostess is your waitress, bartender, bus girl, and cashier«might cook too». This lady(you will meet) takes the cake and award for service.

Today was our first visit to Baja Cactus and it will definitely not be the last! We ordered the carnitas sopes, kid’s nachitos, side of potatoes and avocado, coke and Mexican hot chocolate. Everything was incredibly fresh! The food was beautiful in presentation. The wait staff took care of us like we were family. We never wanted for anything as they took care of drink refills and clearing empty plates immediately. The décor is fun and festive. The restaurant is very clean. Did I mention how fresh everything was?! Even the lemon slices that accompanied the sides were ridiculously delicious and fresh. Unfortunately we completely cleaned our plates before we thought to snap a pic for Unilocal.Rest assured however that the meal presentation only serves to make it even more mouth watering.

Been here with my family many times. They seem to have only one person taking orders, while two others buss the tables and run the food. The one woman taking orders, takes her time getting to your table. My family and I sat for 20 minutes before even getting our drink order taken, and another 20 minutes before they took our food order. After waiting for sometime, we decided to just get up and leave. Suggestion for the owner: hire another server. Or at least one that’s able to move a little faster.

If Costco, opened a Mexican Restaurant this would be it. I ordered plate B. Pork Tamale, Chicken Enchilada«i got beef» and a Beef Taco with rice and beans. The pork and beef has the same taste as Costco’s prepackaged entrees, with rice and beans. The corn tortilla was in house made, but who gives a shit if its soaking in the enchilada sauce. I couldn’t pick it up the taco without it falling apart or red sauce all over my fingers. Eating the taco with a fork, it just like enchilada but flat. Chips needed salt, Tostitos would of been better. I well not be coming back anytime soon. most likely never.

Wow, my friend told me about this place, so glad he did. Everyone was so nice. The place was very clean. Enmolaladas were great, had a chocolate mole on it, the chicken was very tender. Wife got the chicken enchilada, she did not like the mole red sauce, just because she does not like a sweet sauce with her meat. But I liked mine. I had the cilantro dressing with my salad. I have never had that kind of dressing before, glad I tried it. You just have to try it.

My favorite Mexican Restaurant in Temecula. The owners are always there, cooking and conversing with their patrons. Their food is based on Yucatan influences, homemade mole, a killer salsa, with tons of flavor,(could not get the recipe out of them), homemade horchata, and tortillas. Try the chili colorado, tender chunks of beef simmered in a complex reddish brown gravy. I had some issues when they first opened with slow service, but I’m so glad I was patient, and gave them another try. Really a wonderful Mexican restaurant. Daily specials, and phone orders welcome.

Great food and great service. Highly recommend this Mexican restaurant. We ordered the chicken fajitas. The chips and guacamole is fantastic as well. Fairly priced!

Temecula has a lot of good restaurants but one type of good sit down dining that Temecula is lacking, is good Mexican food. I am pleased to report, that is no longer the case. My search has ended! WOW, this place is fantastic! The atmosphere is spot on, service is on point, prices are very reasonable, and the food is incredible! I had the two flautas and beef burrito combo which was to die for, and my wife had the steak fajitas and she reports they were divine! They perfectly Caramelized the onions and peppers. I will definitely be back.

The food was more authentic than most in the area but the service is so slow and prices are slightly higher than exspected but delicious. + original margaritas by the pitcher — service and restaurant can get loud

Oh, this pains me. I had such high expectations for this place! Came in on a Saturday to a packed place. Great sign! Hostess asked if we wanted to sit outside. We got outside and there were no heat lamps! Ugh. It was a brisk night, but we were hungry and figured Mexican food was made quickly. We sat for 10 minutes. Finally got our drinks. Sat for another ten minutes. Ordered food. Waited 20 minutes before I had to hunt down a refill for our drinks. I would have eaten more Chips, but they charge for additional Baskets. Lame! Food came out 35 minutes after we ordered! It was… okay. The waitress(we had three) noticed I was shivering and brought us inside. Not impressed. Won’t be back.

I freaking love this place! Best most authentic Mexican food you can find. Abuela, Spanish for Grandma, is in the back cooking it up from scratch. Let me put it to you this way. I never eat refried beans. Don’t care much for them, but at this place I can’t stop eating them. The menu is simple and includes the favorites and a few special items that if you try them you will love them. For example the holy«Mole» sauce they have is divine. Now for the hard part. Imagine you are in a hurry, like most of us are. Now imagine you are in a hurry and you get a flat tire or break your leg on the way out the door. Take what that would feel like and apply it to eating here. The service is painfully slow. Nothing more frustrating then wanting to eat and having to retire while waiting to get your food. The donner party got to eat quicker. As much as it pains me to do so I have to deduct a star for speed of service. However, if you enjoy good as close to home cooked Mexican food as you can get, then you will enjoy Baja Cactus, salute!

The food was fresh and the proportions were generous especially for the price. The only negative was the quality of the service. It was slow and the staff seemed disinterested that we were there. We had to flag them down for more water. And, at the time the place was only maybe half full. However, I would still return as there weren’t enough negatives to keep me away.

Place is great! Fast service and looking at the food I was impressed, the food came out and it looked and tasted good! Shrimp perfectly cooked and deveined!, portion was perfect, the wine sucks but everything else was very very good! And they close at 8. It’s 8:30 and no rushing us out! I will be a regular here that’s for sure!

I came to Baja Cactus on the recommendation of a family member. When I arrived I was greeted at the door and seated immediately. The server took my drink order and brought out chips and salsa. The salsa was very good. I ordered a Chile Verde burrito with rice and beans. When my food arrived it looked amazing. When I reached down to adjust my plate it was very hot. When I say very hot I mean El Diablo himself must be in the kitchen bringing those plates straight up from the under world because it was that hot. I write this as a warning to all patrons, especially those with children. The Chile Verde was beyond good. The sauce had one the best flavors I have ever tasted. The pork inside the burrito was very lean and I didn’t find any fat. The beans and rice were tasty too. This was my first time here but I would like to become a regular. **2nd visit My wife and I came here for dinner. The food was outstanding. My wife ordered the carnitas fajitas. The fajitas were tasty and large enough to feed two. I had a combo plate with enchilada, chile relleno and tamale. My plate was equally good.

Update: 8⁄2 not horrible but not an appetizing experience tonight. Ordered food as usual for carryout, showed up 15 minutes later(as instructed), paid, and carried my food home. When I take inventory a second time when I get home my wife(who is pregnant) informs me that we weren’t given her side of rice or beans with her bean & cheese burrito with sour cream plus additional wet burrito sauce(remember this part for later in the story), I’m missing my salsa for my flautas, and we got 2 different tamales when we ordered 2 pork. So I drive back there(only a block away) and stand at the entrance of the store for a couple minutes waiting to be greeted, when I am greeted I say hello and begin to tell the lady of my dilemma(it’s a real dilemma when your wife is pregnant) and I get halfway through my sentence and she interupts with«you want this a la carte? You want to carry out?» After rolling my eyes in disgust of the disrespect of her interupting me while I’m politely and kindly stating my problem, I’m allowed to blurt out quickly, «no I ordered all those items and didn’t receive them, I’m here to pick them up». At this point I assume that she understands my dilemma, and she retreats to the kitchen area where I hear her discuss what I’ve told her. After 4 or 5 minutes(no exaggerations) she comes back and looks for my order ticket and reads off what I had ordered earlier. 1. Flautas, beef with corn tortillas 2. Bean & cheese burrito with sour cream and red sauce(wet burrito) 3. 2 pork tamales 4. Side of beans 5. Lemonade Here’s where the disagreement starts. I tell her«yes that’s my order and I’m missing the sides of beans and rice that come with the bean & cheese burrito, my side of salsa for my flautas, and received 1 pork tamale and 1 chicken». She replies with, «the burrito doesn’t come with beans and rice(and points to the item above the burrito i ordered on the menu I’ve taken in my hands for clarification) it’s an a la carte item». I say«no I ordered this burrito(pointing at the item below the one she pointed at, which is the only bean & cheese burrito on the page) and it does not say it’s a la carte and the top of the section states ‘comes with rice and beans’» She continues to disagree. Not wanting to cause a scene for the 2 maybe 3 patrons inside I said, «fine just give me my salsa for my flautas» and explained I would be on my way. She asks which kind of salsa with a puzzled look on her face to which I exclaim, «the cup of salsa that you give when someone orders flautas», not knowing the different kinds of salsa they have or what it’s called. She walks away still looking puzzled and asks in the back for my salsa I assume. She comes back with an orange red liquid in a clear cup and hands it to me and I turn and leave shaking my head. So I get back home(where my food is now luke warm and getting soggy) and use the«salsa» they’ve now given me. I make several comments throughout my meal that the«salsa» is horrible and I’m not happy with my food at all. My wife asks to try the«salsa» and does so. When she does she chuckles and says«that’s Chile relleno sauce»… It’s sad that I gave them a chance to make their mistake right and they failed by having someone at point of contact who has no clue of customer service, nor does she know the product or menu(all which are necessities in the food service industry, I know from experience). I’ll probably never eat there again even knowing how satisfying and how happy we were that we could get quality food so nearby. Food is something I take seriously when I’m paying almost $ 40 for my meal.

Customer service kind of sucks. Maybe because it was a weekend night. They can barely speak English and hard to get their attention. But their food is delicious. Plates come with so much food and the presentation is very clean and desireable. Their food isn’t too salty and perfectly flavored. came with a big group and kind of shared everything so don’t know exactly what I ordered but all their big entrees were good. One thing I remember is the molcajete mix. Which was delicious!

When we walk in, half of the restaurant was full with only one cashier/waitress. It was clear they were understaffed, but the lady was super nice and quickly sat us. The fresh tortillas with salsa was good to start. We ordered the Burrito Chile Verde and Mole Poblano, both were good choices. However, everything was a tad bit salty. The rice was a tad bit undercooked and the beans were a tad bit watery. The meats for both dishes were fork tender and really juicy. I saw another couple order the giant shrimp mixed bowl and it looked delicious. If we’re back in town soon, we’ll try their breakfast!
