Great place to grab a bite. The deli sandwiches are great and they make a killer panini. Look for the specials and you have to try one of their homemade soups. Cool on the inside and a scenic back porch overlooking the river. Super clean restrooms to freshen up in right before you literally step outside… and you’re literally starting the drive up the Cherohala Skyway.

Great local deli! Stopped in this weekend while visiting family in Tellico Plains. The food offerings are fairly simple(sandwiches, salads, desserts), but tasty and well done. I ordered a veggie sub, and everything in it tasted nice and fresh. The bread looks and tastes housemade and compliments a simple sandwich really well. I also got a jello salad that they had for the day. It was exactly as expected. My dining companions ordered the chicken salad, which comes in a platter size, but the ladies who own Kat’s will cut it down to a half portion for you if you ask, a slice of delicious peach pie, and a pulled chicken sandwich(which was probably the best thing that we got – moist and well seasoned). One of the owners took our order(my mom knew her and mentioned that to me later) and was friendly and helpful with suggestions. We ordered a to-go order as well, which she timed perfectly for when we were leaving. The indoor area leaves a lot to be desired as far as ambiance goes. Again, though, it’s a pretty simple deli, so that’s not a huge surprise. However, the outdoor seating options are highly recommended. Their back porch faces right onto a nice scenic view of the Tellico River. Very shady, cool, and a nice place to spend a few minutes while on the road or visiting town. Inside, it looked like they had a little mini store for travelers, but I didn’t pay much attention to their stock.

First time here! It was really yummy and hit the spot. It’s a small sized building with a small sized deli but offers a huge clean taste. Both my wife and I ordered the southwestern sandwich. Hers was heated on panini while mine was a cold sandwich. I liked mine better than hers just because I felt the tomato and lettuce gave it a clean more balanced flavor. A small bag of plain chips and pickle spear were the sides. Seating is very limited. All in all, we may stop by again if we are in the area and craving a deli sandwich.

I have driven past this place for years on my way up through tellico plains but had never stopped. I found out quickly that I was the one missing out! Fresh bread and ingredients are the base that makes this place great! There is a different special everyday as well as a soup of the day. So far my favorite has been the meatball sub. It was one of the best I have ever had! I was so shocked because the building isn’t much to look at and most people I’ve talked to always recommended the beach drive in instead. I would highly recommend not making the same mistake I did and make sure you stop by to eat. They also will box your food to go if you call ahead so you can have a picnic in the national forest!

We visited the shop owned by the very sweet sisters(hence the name: Kellie And Tomye Sisters) on our way out of Tellico Plains. Between us, my traveling companions and I had a veggie sandwich, southwest panini, the special heirloom tomato sandwich, apple vegetable salad, and ice tea. Everything was tasty, but nothing insanely great. They were perfect for traveling and made for great picnic food. I’d recommend it to anyone, since they have a large variety of sandwich combinations(or you can create your own).
