Really great tasting food. Angus beef steak was juicy and fresh. Pork shank was tender and has a sweetness to it. Came here on my birthday to celebrate and they would not even save me a chocolate chimi or cuban coffee. They charge $ 15 for corkage. I understand you want to be a higher end restaurant, but you could have been nicer to the birthday parties. We had to wait at least 40minutes after ordering for the food to arrive.

We stopped here on a Saturday for an early lunch, thinking it was Mexican food. Well… It’s not Mexican, but we were not discouraged. The place was empty, so the service was great! The menu was exciting. The food was a little less exciting, but still good. They brought out a basket of bread & a chimichurri sauce, both decent. My husband ordered a pork dish(I can’t remember the name) & I had the fish tacos. Both were good portions & tasty, though not as flavorful as we expected. The black beans were exceptionally good. We ordered my picky eater son the chicken strips from the kids menu. What they brought out was a grilled chicken breast cut into strips with a mango chili dipping sauce. The chicken was not what my son was expecting & the sauce was too spicy(for most children! I enjoyed the sauce on my tacos!), so he ate nothing but the bread. I think this place would be great for a date night or dinner with friends. It was nicely decorated & the music was lively. The cocktail menu & wine list were great! I had a fantastic Moscow mule & my husband had a nice zin. They also have a tapas menu in the evening. We might be back, without children next time!

Our table got the clean plate award. Surprisingly sophisticated food prepared with care. Prices more than fair for the quality of ingredients and preparation. My stuffed pepper(actually deconstructed with a layered fire grilled pepper) was tasty and presented well. Out of the way a bit but absolutely worth finding. As you enter you see all their deserved review awards on the wall.

Love this place and come here every time we’re in the area. Great wine list with interesting selections and reasonable prices. Food is delicious and nice variety in the menu. Try the Ecuadorian Shrimp Ceviche — delicious. We both had the Flat Iron steak last night — perfectly cooked, excellent flavors. They are very accommodating if you’re GLUTENFREE and brought me freshly grilled corn tortillas to munch on with their Chimichurri sauce while my husband had their crunchy French bread.

Beyond pleasantly surprised with this place. We started off with the tomatoe and cheese platter and I got tampranillo wine(Spanish vino) and it paired with it perfectly. Dinner for me was zacatecas chili Verde and he got the Brazilian beef stroganoff and both were beyond fabulous. Add a exceptional waitress who was superbly on top of it the whole dinner and the night was a lovely romantic hit. I was very satisfied if not over satisfied. We shall return. I’m all about this Latin fusion! Thank you for a romantic Tuesday!

When I found out we were staying at the Stallion Springs Resort I was most excited about going to Don Juan’s Grill again and having the«Tropical Sunset Kabobs.» We went on a Saturday at 11:15 a.m. We were promptly seated by Bridget, who was very pleasant. My husband and I both had the same meal. It was absolutely delicious. It was also a treat to have Voss Sparkling water available.

First time here today. for lunch. A menu of 10 items. I got a salad with a mango citrus dressing, very fresh and wonderful. Ken got the jalepeno soup. He said it had a little kick but was good. I chose the fish tacos and Ken had the Philly steak sandwich. Both weteter very good. The food was fast in coming and the service was friendly. A great experience. We will be back I’m sure.

I have been a faithful customer of Don Juan’s since they opened their doors, but sadly I am disappointed with there recent level of service or lack there of! We arrive at the front counter and waited to be seated, we wait for close to 5 min before we are approached by one of the waiters, which in my opinion, there should be someone there as soon as we walk through the doors, or at the very least someone arriving within 1 min… We are now seated, normally after a couple minutes they bring bread for the table, we waiting for a good 15min before I had to ask the waiter if we could get some bread, but only after I noticed another customer who arrived after we did receive their bread first. Now on to my drink, I ordered Ice Tea, when my drink got low the waiter was very good about filling up my glass, the problem was that she poured Ice Tea out of a pitcher that was clearly sitting outside for a couple hrs because all the Ice was melted so I got a glass full of warm ice tea! Now on to the food, the food is always good which is why I gave Two stars, if not it would be one star. We received our food, they forgot my wife’s vegetables, we told the waiter, and she lies and says, «O the cook is making them right now» as we watch her run back to the kitchen and ask the cook for the vegetables, it took them a whole 3 min. To whip some up and they forgot to add garlic so they were bland. Now we are done with our meal, well, the waitress decided I was done as she took my chicken wings plate away as I am holding the last wing in my hand, so now we are done. We wait about 20min for our check so I have to ask the waiter for the check! At this point we are not the only ones frustrated with the horrible service, the table behind us was complaining, two other tables were complaining, a group of 5 customers walked out the door! Sorry Don Juan, not your finest hr. Please get in there and whip this place back into shape, I know you are proud of your restaurants, please read the comments that are 3 and below stars, you will see that the main complaint is the service, I will not be back for a while or at least until I see that there is a change on Unilocal or through word of mouth. By the way, I did have another bad experience on a Sunday, which I did not Unilocal about because I wanted to give you a second chance, so 2 Times now that I have not received good service…

I was looking for good food in Tehachapi, which has proven difficult in the past. I found Don Juan’s on Unilocal and the good reviews drew me in. The atmosphere was dark and pleasant with several booths in a large room to the left and a bar to the right of the entrance. It was pretty busy on a Friday night and I was surprised that there was only one waiter and a couple of cooks for all the diners. After being seated we were brought a basket of plain white bread, which was ok, but not worth spoiling my appetite. It took about 15 minutes for our waiter to take our order, but considering that he seemed to be the only waiter it was understandable. I ordered the Rainbow Sunrise beef kabob to split with my friend, and it was delicious. Splitting the order was an excellent idea as there was plenty of rice and veggies with one kabob for each of us. The beef was perfectly seasoned, very tender and lean. Considering the cost of $ 15 it was nice to lower the cost to $ 7.50 per person by splitting the meal. The beef kabob was great, but pricey. They seemed short staffed for a busy Friday night. We also got a $ 6 appetitizer of sweet potato fries that was greasy and cold when we got them. I would not recommend the fries to anyone. They only have one restroom for men and one for women, which is pretty low considering how many people were there. However, dinner was great and considering it is Tehachapi with limited options I will definitely return here for dinner in the future and split dinner with a friend.

I was driving thru the area and was super hungry and I found Don Juans Grill on Unilocal and decided to try it out. At first I didn’t know what to expect, but after I ordered my appetizers and food I knew it was great food and atmosphere. The staff is very friendly. The food was amazing. I had the flat iron steak(churasco) and it was delicious, cooked to perfection. I was so hungry I didn’t even take any pictures. Must try this spot if your in the area, I know I will.

Food is usually great. But service was horrible took them time to get us our menus, then took time to get us drinks, not too many people in the restaurant that it was so packed, but the fact I could see them standing behind the glass. What a bummer I would have given them a 5 star for their food but the services, they should remember when people go to your restaurant they want to be treated as though they are family, not irrelevant. Have experienced a lot in this town as, though you’re not important.

Highly recommended. Stopped for a quick lunch and tried the soup and salad offer. This is a «Latin Fusion» restaurant, so take them at their word. The soup was pozole. Not your mom’s spicy red caldo; the cabbage topping was there, but the tostada, radishes, and avocado slices were no-shows. Still, it was a delicious, meaty soup with a savory broth. The house salad featured fresh field greens(not romaine) with a good selection of veggies. Their«Caesar» dressing is also non-traditional, with a citrus base. Quite good. Service was good and the price was fair.

Came here to see someone respectful and we had a great time! Either it’s for meeting with a friend or happy hour on my own, this place had never let me down… I also loved the fact that they cooked with my own ingredient for a pasta dish! Bonus point on that one for sure :)

Darn, I was really hoping to give this place a higher rating as I am craving a nice restaurant in Tehachapi that serves Latin food. Initially the service was okay, I was trying to formulate my own opinion rather than allow the previous reviews on Unilocal to guide me. I ordered«arroz con pollo»(rice & chicken), my waiter brought me what appeared to be rice and chicken covered in cheese and sour cream(?). When I placed my fork to take my first bite, I discovered what I actually had was a plate of soup. It was before 5PM and it was not busy however, my waiter was nowhere to be found and no one ever checked in to see if everything was okay. I proceeded to just eat the meal with a fork(I was hungry), a spoon was not provided(again this was not meant to be soup). In all fairness, it was tasty however, at this point I was dissatisfied with the service and can now understand(and agree) with what the previous reviews on Unilocal were referencing. When it was evident I had an empty plate, with about a cup and a half of broth in front of me, a waitress came by and asked if she can take my plate. I informed her that I ordered rice and chicken and instead got was given soup. She dismissively informed me that«this batch was waterier than usual(really? All that was needed was a slotted spatula to take care of that). I felt disregarded and decided to pass on the dessert as I was contemplating(a red velvet cake or a slice of cheesecake). My waiter finally showed up to to take my payment after yet another waitress provided me with the bill.(I tipped according to service). I may go back again as the food was flavorful but, my expectations on quality customer service is low.

First time here. I highly recommend this place. Seven of us had a great dinner, which was promised to us by one the seven who eats here from time to time. Kind of an eclectic menu with lots of chicken dishes, shrimp and fish choices. Everyone loved the butternut soup. Dinner salad with a house made(fruit) vinagrette was outstanding. Favorite dish of the night: the Cuban Pork Shank. Just outstanding; and not a small portion. Other great dishes included«Zacatecas Chili Verde,» Kabob Del Mar, and various enchilladas. We basically sampled the dessert menu. All were excellent, including Flan Tres Leches, fruit empanadas and«Drunken Plaintains.» There is a bar in another part of the restaurant that I didn’t see. But, we ordered two bottles of wine for the table. The wine was very fairly priced and excellent, as was the food. Our server, Carina, is/was the true asset and ambassador for this restaurant. Her brother, Chris, was her bus. Both made our meal enjoyable, though Chris is still learning the ropes. In Tehachapi? This is a must go-to restaurant.

What a great place to take a date or your family. The meals are amazing and the service is always spot on! Juan and his lovely wife Yolanda take great pride in their place, and it shows! I think my daughter is hooked on the bacon wrapped shrimp. Only one was star down for the location, but worth the drive.
