I called salon to set an appointment for me and my girlfriend after seeing under their Haircolor tab, Pure Hair color. I asked what brand is that since I never heard of it, it sounded so good. The receptionist was strangely rude and said. Oh I don’t know what you are talking about, I directed her on the website. She said oh that is Aveda, it is 99% organic. I said WHAT, that is I think NOTTRUE, she insisted. Said they use Loreal professional color too. SHEWASINSISTINGABOUTAVEDAHAIRCOLORBEING99% ORGANIC. THISISTOTALLY, TOTALLYUNTRUE. I WOULDNOTTRUSTTHEMATALLNOW. We will be taking our business somewhere else. Too bad my girlfriend bought a house in town.

I went in at 5:45 on ¾ for a BASIC mani/pedi, no acrylics, no gel nails, no gel polish, no french anything, just a basic mani/pedi. It took the young lady all of 2.25 hrs to finish before drying. Though my nails appear long b/c of long nail beds, the nails themselves are short. The salon itself is nice & the staff courteous, but the area for nails is small & the selection of polishes limited to maybe 35 – 40 shades. I feel bad to post a negative review b/c the young lady couldn’t have been more pleasant… BUT nails are NOT her forte! She had difficulty just using the nail clippers. Then she struggled with the cuticle nippers, holding them awkwardly and going at my cuticles like she was plucking nuts out of a shell. I was lucking to escape w/o injury. I gently asked how long she had been performing nail services and she replied 3 yrs. I was shocked. I’ve received better mani/pedis from students at cosmetology schools. I asked for my nails to be softly square w/slightly rounded corners. I eventually had to ask for the file to rescue what was left of my nails. She filed them concave vs convex. The cuticles were ragged & rough. She was clearly intimidated by the process & tool. Then came the polish. Polish everywhere everytime she tried to get close to the edges. She also used too many strokes, leaving the polish too thick & streaky. Then when she’d try to clean the edges she’d mess up the nails even more. I have never had such a poor mani/pedi anywhere in the US, Caribbean or Europe. I didn’t want to embarrass the young lady or get her in trouble, but I did show my hands to the rep at the front desk when she asked how I enjoyed the service. I expressed my displeasure as I left a 20% tip, and was ASSURED the financial adviser would contact me the next day. Less than 2 days after the appt. the polish began to chip off in chunks. Since I hadn’t heard from anyone, I decided to send an email with photos attached that I took when I left the salon and the following day when the polished chipped. I then followed up 3 days later with a phone call. Needless to say, it is 2 wks later and no one from Ohana Salon and Spa has contacted me. I have worked in one of the most difficult customer related fields for nearly 20 years, so I am very understanding & tolerant of most circumstances. I also am hesitant to complain about services, but this appointment and the fact that they didn’t care to acknowledge my email and calls is not one I can ignore. I would not recommend Ohana Salon and Spa to anyone for any service, especially not mani/pedis.

I posted a while back a scathing review about Ohana’s nail services. I should have also posted a rave review about their hair services. I know this rating’s stars will essentially cancel out my last, but it’s long overdue. My stylist, El, is fantastic. She listens, does what I want, makes recommendations based on my hair type and face shape and overall lifestyle. She also keeps current with the latest trends and practices all the time so she’s ahead of the curve. I’m usually able to get an appointment with her just about any time and I have been going to her for over 2 years now. I would highly recommend her, as she’s the first stylist I’ve found in probably 10 years that I would go back to repeatedly. I consider her my number 1, and will continue to go to Ohana because of her skills. Another plus– she’s never been pushy on me to buy anything. She’s also a great listener(aka, your side therapist), and is fun to converse with. I give Ohana 5 stars because of her abilities. The salon itself is clean, inviting, and has a large selection of products and everyone is very nice. They offer water or coffee while you are waiting, as well, which is a nice perk.

I wish I could give this place zero stars. I went in with a full head of bright blonde highlights. I wanted something a little less maintenance and brought in several pictures of a natural ombré. After discussing it w the stylist she mixed my color and brushed it only through my roots and didn’t blend it at all. She kept grabbing the length of my hair with dark color all over her gloves the entire time. I questioned her about it and she laughed amd said you won’t be able to tell once I’m done. She left me to process for almost and hour. I was horrified when I kept seeing the color get darker and darker until it was almost black. She finally rinsed me out and attempted to blow dry me. The top of my hair was close to black and had bled through the length of my hair making it appear grey. I was bawling when I went to the front. I told the receptionist I wasn’t happy. She called the manager and explained the situation. The managed did not care whatsoever and said I still had to pay the full amount for this service I was severely unhappy with. I will never go back and would not even recommend ohana to my worst enemy. Horrible.

Terrible salon! The owner is not licensed and tries to do clients hair, waxing, and nail services. This place has way too much turn over, and you will never be told over the phone that your stylist quit. The receptionists just schedule you with any other stylist that’s available. The owner, Jetta, needs to get a clue.

Used their website on Friday to schedule an appointment on Saturday. Saturday morning I called them since no one called me or confirmed my appointment. The lady on the phone was extremely rude. She said no one called me back as there might be nothing available. What kind of customer service is that. Atleast call and reschedule or apologize for not having any. I asked her if I can get something for today and I have a Groupon for it, she tells me I had 120 days to use my Groupon and now I am trying to squeeze in at end time. How rude. that is none of her business when I plan to use my groupon. Then she tells me she doesn’t have anything for today [Sat] but will give me something for Tuesday afternoon which is when my deal expires. I told her I work and cannot make it on Tues afternoon. She tells me sorry I can’t help you. Their website advertizes«LASTMINAPPOINTMENTS» as one of the top reasons to choose Ohana. I told her Thank You for making my decision easy of never buying a Groupon for your place again and sorry for the 11 customers I recommended that you are going to lose along with me. I bet if I called again and said don’t have any deals or coupons, she would have given me an appointment for Saturday. This is purely unprofessional. I have been to Ohana before and loved it hence when I saw the Groupon I bought it and also recommended the salon to others. They are 50 mins away from my house and I was still willing to go to them. But if they treat me differently just because I bought their Groupon then shame on them. The reason people buy Groupons is to try out places they haven’t tried before or if they are loyal to the place and get a deal every once a while. This is TERRIBLE Customer Service and I am so not going there again. I will ensure I leave a review in every site possible.

I went in with dirty matted hair for a wash and blowout. The hairdresser(a guy, I forgot his name) took care of the hairtuation, that’s a hair situation, the likes of which should get me banned from most salons. He even blew out my hair without needing to even comb it! That’s right. After the wash, there were no tangles. What??? I almost laughed when he said, and I quote, «I don’t think I’ll even have to take a brush to it». This is not a joke… the tangles had literally disappeared. Hairagic, that’s short for hair magic. He was very gentle, I almost felt like telling him to stop being polite, after all, I am lazy and don’t deserve to have long hair. This is the reason I will say that it took a long time, but he is not a girl with curly hair, they(we) are ruthless with our hair kind of hair. He did a great job and I bought some product from them. I used an old Unilocal cupon that had expired but they honored it anyway. They threw in some hand lotion from Aveda for free, which I’m addicted to now. Darn it! Most importantly though, my boyfriend couldn’t take his eyes off me. I have to say, I clean up good. Thanks Ohana!

Worst salon ever visited. I paid $ 240(including the tips to stylist and guy who cut trimmed my hair.) for lowlights, and the stylists, did not also touch up the roots. I went back(less than 2 weeks) and the receptionist stated they cannot touch the scalp with color. Was that stated before my appointment? NO. She was not professional and very impolite. I thought the customer was always right? Apparently not here. She said they could cover the roots, but it would be an additional charge. It was less than 2 weeks. The salon is located in HeeHawville, with NYC pricing and very poor service. Salon owner: Be advised you need to replace the receptionist. She is losing customers who tip well. KARMA.

Is it possible to give a salon or any establishment negative zero stars before you even walk in the door? The unprofessonal manner in which I was treated, spoken to and hung up on(YES hung up on) by the MANAGER, none the less, by the name of «„Jenna“» was absolutely the reason I will never step foot in that place. Its a disgrace to the salon, the stylists and the owner that they have someone handling their phones and potential clients in the manner in which««Jenna» does. I hope for the ownsers sake that he/she/they find a professional receptionist. Too bad I have no desire to even go in…

WORST Mani & Pedi ever! My nails were peeling within 2 hours. Mani provider used a emery block on the top surface of my nails which is not healthy for my nails nor is it necessary on natural nails. They don’t use a new nail file and emery block for each client and you know there is no way they can get them sterile. Totally gross! I’ll consider myself lucky if I don’t get an infection of some kind!

This salon is great. From the spa smell to the nice décor. And my stylist Kia has done my hair/color/highlights several times. I continue to be a satisfied customer and can’t wait til my next appointment. Try the shampure candle scent it is my favorite.
