This is great option to do if you’re in the area but don’t want to commit to renting a canoe. I’ve done both the dinner cruise option and their shorter river cruise. The dinner cruise was a really well-done experience with good food and commentary during the ride from the captain. The captain talks enough about the history and the features of the river but also strikes a good balance with letting you and your family enjoy the meal and the scenery. We’ve brought family when they’ve visited, so I’ve been a few times now and you always get to see new wildlife.

I was supposed to ride this boat years ago but it rained. I researched online and you Save $ 2 à person by purchasing tickets online. Today brought me here for my birthday. The weather was gorgeous. My son and I took in the 11:30 excursion which lasted 80 minutes. The narrator was very good and not boring. We rôde on top and sat outside in the front. Great place for taking pictures. The boat ride itself was very smooth and slow. There are many canoists and kayakers on the St. Croix River. The narrator pointed out all the rock formations and shapes like an old man and cross. Some I saw some I didnt. There are bathrooms aboard and pop, beer, and other concessions. I would love to kayak the St. Croix someday. This boat tour would be just stunning in the fall.

We went on the 5PM tour which was 30 minutes from the dock to Folsom Island. Originally, we were thinking the 80 minute tour. However, after taking this tour, we realized it was better since it was just the right amount of time. Our captain took his time and narrated about the pot holes as well and rock formations from Ice Age. The deck of the Princess had a roof to keep us out of the sun. Most boats deck are uncovered so this was a delightful surprise. We got some nice photos of us as well as all the rock formations. I think with kids it is probably best for 30 minutes and adults may also find it in their interest to not prolong their boat trip. Once you pass Folsom Island, it gets pretty boring after that since everything is pretty flat. I would recommend to do some hiking on Interstate State Park on both the MN and WI sides. This gives you even better views and a good workout too. For the boat prices, it was pretty reasonable at $ 15 per person. If you take something in Chicago like the architecture tour, it goes north of $ 35 per person.

We boarded the Taylors falls princess and we enjoyed the experience. The tour takes about 90 minutes and goes through a beautiful river valley with the captain also acting as the tour guide with information about the valley and its history. Some people might find the price of $ 17.5 on the weekends on the higher side, but its definitely worth a try.

I was unimpressed. For $ 15 per person, I expected a smaller, less crowded boat and something a bit more exciting. The boat went out, and we saw the supposed namesake of the river, a cross carved in the rock(it takes some imagination to see it!), and then we went back. It was quite slow, dull, and short.

I was impressed by the afternoon boat cruise my wife and I took the kids on in the early fall. Having previously been on the boats down in Stillwater, I didn’t know how Taylors Falls boats would stack up, but in my opinion, the scenery and atmosphere blew the Stillwater cruise out of the water. The tour takes you on a slow meandering journey through the cliffs area south of Taylors Falls. The scenery is absolutely beautiful on this untouched portion of the river. The boat crew is excellent and does a nice job of narrating and pointing out special scenic features along the way. I would definitely recommend this if you’ve never done it!
