Our family really enjoys Mexican food. So when visiting a relative it was suggested we eat here. Our party included 6 adults and 1 child: Attentive, friendly service, noisy when busy. We switched tables 3 times by the staff so all of us could sit comfortably together. They aimed to please. Complimentary chips and salsa fresh and tasty Food appearance fresh and attractive We ordered Guacamole for the table, our dinners ordered: 2 vegetarian burritos, 1 steak burrito, 1 chicken and 1 beef taco salad, 1 combo mariachi plate # 3 (enchilada, chili relleno, and burrito), 1 chicken tortilla soup, and a child’s chicken fingers with fries(not on the menu but offered to us) The guacamole was delicious and made fresh in front of us. We were asked whether we wanted spicy or not. Otherwise it was made with added cilantro, lime, red onions. Nice presentations, food looked great but: The vegetarian burritos had al dente textured broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, lettuce and and some rice and black beans. The green sauce was minimal with a smattering of white grated cheese on top. The filling was quite bland. It was rated a 2 and 3. The steak burrito was rated 2, also with loose filling and bland with a smattering of sauce and white cheese. The soup was rated a 4, plenty of chicken and avocado but really not a full bodied chicken flavor in the broth at all The taco salads were ordered with extra sour cream with out a problem of getting extra sour cream. Each was rated a 3.5 and a 4. Plenty of shredded chicken in one but less beef filling in the other salad. The combo platter was rated a 4. The child enjoyed her generic chicken fingers and fries. Yes we would go back and order something different. Some photos forth coming.

I have been to this particular restaurant on 4 different occassions. The first time was very good. The food was hot and tasty and the service above average. The 3 other times, last week being the last, our food was tasteless and tepid, and the service abominable. The waiter actually threw the tortilla container onto our table as he ran past because he had forgotten them the first time. He was rude and slovenly. We heard a lot of good things about this place but it’s just gone downhill. It’s too bad because it’s hard to find good authentic Mexican food out here.

I’ve never had a bad meal here and I’ve been many times. On a busy Friday expect a bit of a wait but that’s to be expected. My favorites are the Chilli Colorado and Fajita Chimicgangas.

In town for a business trip, we all favored Mexican food. Thanks to Unilocal we found this location which was not disappointing. The restaurant was spacious, had friendly service and good food. Salsa and table side guacamole were excellent!

We were in the area and Unilocal steered us to this not so hidden gem. A boisterous setting was the backdrop for an excellent family dinner. Hand crafted guacamole to start complimented tasty margaritas. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Wait staff was friendly and attentive. Easy 4-star rating! Can’t wait to go back next time we’re in town.

LOVED this place! Huge, delicious margaritas, friendly staff, no problem getting a table for 4 on Saturday night with no reservation. Table side guacamole was entertaining & delicious. The only downside was the really(REALLY) loud woman in the next booth, who seemed to genuinely enjoy the sound of her own voice, even though it’s grating enough to cut glass. Whatevs… A fun Saturday night out with our family while visiting our son for Easter weekend! ***Update: the loud woman either read my review or started eating her meal… she’s now much less obnoxious!

If you’re looking for authentic mexican food, this is the place to go and the crowds that go here will confirm it! It was our first visit and we liked the food, but we were seated in an awkward space in the middle of the bar where servers and the guacamole cart kept hitting us or bumping our table. I almost think this could even be a fire hazard. Our glasses spilled sometimes and this happened so frequently that we started to just hold our glasses when people came by. If we had known the seating was going to be such an inconvenience we would have happily waited longer for a booth or another table. Despite of all this, the food was great and they do, as mentioned, have a guacamole cart that prepares fresh orders right at your table. People got a kick out of that. We’d definitely go again, but hopefully we won’t be holding our table constantly from the spills that happen from all the bumps and pushes around us.

If you want authentic Mexican food in New England this is the place! Originally from California, I found it hard to get good Mexican food out here. Not any more! This place is delicious! Great atmosphere and friendly staff! I always try something new and am never disappointed!

This place is authentic, but the review is based on the customer service. There are numerous tables that have paid and the guests just sit there. Multiple times my party was informed«five more minutes» after telling us they are waiting for three tables to leave. For our party of six, they wanted to reconcile with a table of four and two instead of asking the non-ordering parties to leave.

While visiting the area we were told about this place from our hotel. The food is great ! You can tell they use fresh ingredients we had the steak it was cooked perfectly And I had the beef enchalad with been and rice. The rice was worth the trip and I could have eaten a whole plate of it! So flavorful. We endid the diner with fried icecream with there own twist. Served in a tortilla bowl with Carmel sauce and chocolate sause on the plate Service was pleasant and mostly attentive(although she was getting busier and maybe a little less attentive as time passed).

While visiting the area for business — an associate(who is a recent transplant from Cali) said we needed to go to El Mariachi… Didn’t really think that there was good Mexican food in the area, but we took the chance and went there… Shared the camarones a la diabla(awesome) appetizer with my two colleagues — it had some nice big shrimp and mushrooms in there, but the star was the sauce and wish I could’ve had that bottled and sent home with me… I ordered the grilled fish tacos — which were very tasty and reminded me of the beach taco stands in baja… The house margarita was good and potent. Service was pleasant and mostly attentive(although she was getting busier and maybe a little less attentive as time passed). Overall, a surprisingly good Mexican restaurant that I didn’t expect in that area!

After moving to Taunton from Boston almost two years ago, I was really sad that we were giving up some pretty amazing restaurants. When I told people I had moved to Taunton, I was asked over and over again if I had been to El Mariachi yet. I was too busy comparing local restaurants to what I loved in Boston. Amazing Chinese? Still haven’t found it. Incredible pizza? Nothing like in Boston. So I wasn’t in a hurry to rush to a Mexican place… especially since I am a vegetarian. Boy did I get that wrong. El Mariachi has a special selection of vegetarian items on their menu that had me ordering take out two days in a row. Why did I wait so long? Who needs great Chinese or pizza, when you can get the Veggie Fiesta platter with spinach enchiladas and that amazing chile relleno! And I haven’t even been in for the table side guac I am reading so much about yet. Looks like I may have to actually take a shower, shave, and be seen in public so I can have the amazing food accompanied by their legendary guac and margaritas soon. And just when I was getting comfortable on the couch.

Date of service: Dec 28, 2014 Meal: Lunch, Eat in All Ratings out of 10: Quality of food: 4 Food to Spend Value: 5 Quality of Service: 3 Overall Rating: 4 I am not convinced that good Mexican food exists in New England. I have tried on many occasions and have always been sadly disappointed. On this Sunday the in laws wanted to take us to a Mexican restaurant that they enjoyed, and after reading the reviews I got my hopes up and looked forward to lunch. El Mariachi is known for their table side guacamole, so we ordered that, and we also ordered Camarones a la Diabla and Taquito Bites as appetizers. The taquito bites were crispy but void of much flavor, though the guacamole that accompanied them tasted pretty good. The Camarones a la Diabla are essentially shrimp, mushrooms, and garlic cooked in a spicy red sauce. The sauce itself wasn’t very spicy and really had very little flavor at all, though the shrimp itself was pretty tasty. The tableside guacamole was fun to watch being made, but it was about as bland as can be. It is sad when the premade guacamole that came with an appetizer tastes better than the fresh made guacamole, especially when tableside guacamole tends to be a highlight at any Mexican restaurant that does it. I wasn’t super hungry and wanted something a bit light, so I went for the Fajita Chicken Salad. To say I was disappointed with what I got would be an understatement. I have had some really good taco salads at other Mexican restaurants, so I was expecting something hearty and flavorful. What I got makes Taco Bell’s taco salads look gourmet. It was super skimpy and not hearty at all. It had mostly lettuce, with some peppers and onions and hardly any tomato. It came with a boneless chicken breast worth of chicken, which was good, but the chicken was pretty flavorless. The guacamole and sour cream it was served with weren’t enough to save the flavor either. I barely finished it, so I guess I got my light lunch, but certainly not the way I expected. After having high hopes based on Unilocal reviews, I left severely disappointed. Not only is this not good Mexican food, it isn’t even that good of food period. It also felt fairly expensive for what you get. To add injury to insult, the service was atrocious and is some of the worst I have ever experienced, as it took what felt like eons for basic things like refills. If the restaurant was busy I would have cut them some slack, but we were one of 4 occupied tables in the whole place, so it was inexcusable. I don’t ever plan on returning again, and my quest for good Mexican food in New England continues.

Great afterwork drinks spot. Small space so parking can be a bit hard but there is a back parking lot if no parking in front. Atmosphere is small but cozy. High stool tables near bar area so you can look out and sit near windows which is cute. Margaritas are the best ive had in the area and a bunch of flavors. Went here a few times and always get the chicken chimichanga. Its delish! Chips an salsa served complimentary with a good homemade salsa in little bottle that serves a good amount for two. Your not asking for extra salsa every 2 minutes. Great afterwork spot and weekend dinner night out. Give it a try!
