Based on reviews here, we traveled 3 hours to taste and purchase ale. Should have called first. A man was alone preparing to bottle. He said he wasnt open. Cant recomend visiting this place. As always you should form your own opinion.

Visiting this place is like if you went over to Beehtoven’s Mom’s garage and found him composing the Fifth. «Hey, dude – want to hear what I’m writing this week? I think it’s pretty decent.» I mean, in this story he isn’t deaf. «Sure man, I’d love to listen.» Bob Sylvester is doing stuff to beer that people can’t. even. analyze. In a storage unit. My husband and I count ourselves fortunate enough to have met and seen this place before it goes positively viral. Bob(and his extremely generous and welcoming friends) let us talk shop and taste their wares. Saint Somewhere primarily works with wild yeasts and utilizes a lot of reuse barrels. Ever bake with sourdough? Bob uses starters, funky-old barrels(«Whenever I am worried about a wart, I put it in this barrel and it usually saves it.») and fresh local ingredients to compose some of the most delightful and complex beer in the world. And Bob is probably the nicest and most humble man you’ll ever meet. Go and meet some new people. Learn a thing or two about Brettanomyces and say you traveled to Sour Beer Mecca before they even had a taproom. And I cannot WAIT to be there at the taproom opening!

Hands down a great hands-on experience for anyone who loves craft beers. If you can get on the list and volunteer to spend a half-day helping to bottle the latest batch of Saint Somewhere Brewing Co. beer do not miss the opportunity to wash, fill, cork, seal and label these hefty containers of really excellent beer. It is great fun and a treat to be part of what has become a widely distributed beer from a local and talented producer. Last check this is getting into the hands of beer fans all over the U.S., in Montréal and even as far away as Denmark. Or you can visit the brewery tucked away in an out-of-the-way location in Tarpon Springs Thursdays and Fridays from 6 — 8 p.m. Ten bucks gets you a glass and three refills. The warehouse where the beer is made is small and the interior and parking lot can be hot but the beer is cold and well worth dealing with the heat. One of the newest places to carry the Saint Somewhere craft beers is Pelagia Trattoria( ) at the Renaissance Tampa International Plaza Hotel.

Truly a one-man show, Bob Sylvester has been cranking out beer in this miniscule Tarpon Springs warehouse for several years now. For me, this small space was incredible to see, in light of the fact that I’ve been to Binny’s Beverage Depot in Chicago and there saw all the Saint Somewhere beers lined up seven-deep on the top of a shelf. This is the epitome of a small operation, yet these small-batch beers have found national distribution and have garnered critical acclaim from the users of both Beer Advocate and Ratebeer. In the«Florida saison» style(yes, that’s what I’m calling it), Bob’s three beers are open-fermented, unfiltered, and bottle-conditioned — «living beer,» the way it was meant to be. Frequently brewed with local adjuncts like saw palmetto berries, and partially fermented by the local microflora, these beers convey a true sense of place. If you visit, be aware that the tour is simply going to be Bob showing you around the very small warehouse space, answering questions, and inviting you to pour from one of his kegs — on the day we visited, the beer being poured was Saison Athene, a wild, spicy saison with some lemon-pepper and pumpkin-pie-spice notes. There isn’t much to it, but I wouldn’t skip it, as Bob’s a nice guy and his beers are pretty singular. Dunedin Brewery and 7venth Sun aren’t too far, so it works out perfectly to hit these three places in one outing. My kind of beer.

In a warehouse district tucked into a suburban neighborhood lies Brew master Bob tiny space of a brewery. Saint Somewhere Brewing Company is more unexpected than that first gray pubic hair. Brew master Bob with his vast knowledge of Jimmy Buffet tunes, Historic Florida Tourism advertisement welcomes you with open arms and tapped keg to come on over and check them out. Being a small batch brewery and adhering to authenticity and traditional Belgian style, Brew master Bobs«Florida Saisons»(Coined by Patrick) are unfiltered, openly fermented and re-fermented in the bottle. He welcomed us to his tap of Saison Athene which was nice and crisp to combat the insane warehouse heat. I had to «refresh» myself near the few fans that were throughout the small space. He has collaborated with Cigar city on the Vuja De which is an American Wild Ale that was originally intended to be a Black Saison. They are once again collaborating on a Black Saison that will come out later this year named«Deja Vu» cute and clever. Brew master Bob brews 3 beers, Lectio Divina, Saison Athene and Pays Du Soleil, all saisons and all with a Florida twist. If you call ahead, you can help Bob bottle his beers as he is always looking for additional help. He will furnish you with 6 bottles and a sandwich from a local resto(according to their website). It’s an awesome way to spend the afternoon in Tarpon Springs. Brew master Bob, you are a true inspiration to craft brew connoisseurs.
