Came on a Tuesday and was looking for something new. Decided on Eske’s Brew Pub and was not disappointed. I had a bowl of Wanda ’ s Green Chili Stew. It’s great. Fresh, not too spicy and just the right amount. We also ordered the chips and daily fresh made salsa. The salsa was so good we ordered some to take home with us. My friend had the warm soft pretzel, not made in house but was equally nummy. I will be coming back again!

Beer, okay. Server, very nice. I give such a low review because we brought our dogs to sit on the patio and had a horrible experience. The cook has a dog loosely leashed on the patio that WILL attack if even approached by other dogs. We asked before we came down the steps, his friends on the patio said the dog was fine. My dog begs to differ considering he’s has bloody eye boogers for two days. If I hadn’t pulled my dog back I don’t know what would have happened. The topper to all of this(because I understand things happen out of our control) is that the cook didn’t even blink an eye or make any apology. When I went in to use the bathroom, he was actually talking about how«sometimes his dog attacks, just depends». Why is this allowed? I talked to another server in town where the cook was previously employed and apparently this is not a new issue. Please do something about this owner’s and managers.

Get there early if you want a table! People lock in, and Hang out, slammed before happy hour. Food good variety and good size portions, kids menu decent enough. Beer good!

The waitress was extremely friendly and helpful. The beer selection was small but the beer is very good. We both ordered the Sunday special, fried chicken. I was pleasantly surprised by the presentation. The breaded chicken breast was nestled on two scoops of homemade mashed potatoes with gravy on top. There was also a wonderful salad. The food tasted great as well. The atmosphere is very casual. That’s why I was so impressed with the food presentation. It was something I would expect at a fine dining establishment, not a casual brew pub. We really enjoyed our experience here. I will return the next time I’m in Taos and I definitely recommend that anyone who visits should try it.

Not a lot of options in Taos so if you’re looking for beer, this is probably your best bet. I ordered their Red IPA which had to have been the least hoppy IPA I’ve ever gotten so would not recommend it.

My boyfriend and I spent the weekend in Taos for our anniversary, and we stopped here for some dinner and a drink. It was so tasty, but better yet, the bartender/waiter dude was so friendly, gave us free samples of the beer, and was really the most welcoming smile we’ve had in Taos! He made us feel right at home, and we really enjoyed the green chile beer and wildflower wheat! So tasty. Also, the guac is amazing. Thanks, guys!

Good place with little separate areas so you can choose the atmosphere you want. Bar, table, patio or porch. Nothing special on the food menu but its a menu that should please most. Beers were good but I rated my tasting of five beers as: 2,2,3,3.5,3.5. Soon 4+ beers. Personal taste will make these ratings differ of course.

Good atmosphere, good chile beer. food meh, had the burrito, green chile sauce was good enough, but the beans in the burrito were hard and bland, the ground turkey same. Waitress had recommended the burger, and then came back to say they were out at 7pm on a Sat, with a ½ full house. Go for the beer, eat elsewhere.

This place was good, but not great. Took forever to get my order, which was mediocre, and the kitchen staff was visibly not happy to be busy which is a bad thing in an open kitchen. It was also a little off-putting that the dishwasher station was literally adjoined to the stove. That said, the beer was really good. I’ll be back at least for beer, and maybe another shot on the food.

LOVE their green chili stew. Spiciness sneaks up and bites you. Nice selection of beer and friendly staff. Make sure we stop in every time we visit NM

Excellent spot for a beer and some chips and salsa! Their guacamole was perfect, and the salsa was homemade. Definitely a nice place to visit to take a break from doing touristy things!

My favorite chili beer and the best gazpacho ever! Eskes still has the 70’s funk about it too!

As a rule we seek out brew pubs and try them out, its one of the things we like about traveling. We stopped in Eske’s for dinner and to sample their brew offerings. The food was ok, not great but ok. Passable burgers and fries. The beer was the same, ok nothing to write home about but ok. We visited and can say we have been there, there are better offering to be had in the area.

I feel compelled to start this review BEFORE my salad comes out. Hand crafted root beer, guacamole — perfect start. Even better– staff was courteous, helpful and prompt. I’ve never been to Taos, but all the other restaurants were not attentive or seemed to be worried that there was a long line just waiting to see a hostess. We went to three before stumbling on this gem. Sadly, we paid for parking down the road. Come here and park for free, get GREAT service, let your kids play while you wait for the food! I’m already glad for the pit stop — and excited to try this salad…

They offered interesting and unique beers like green chili pepper or apricot, neither of which we cared for. They also make their own root beer, which tasted okay but was a little flat. I enjoyed that the meat was organic and grass fed beef. We both enjoyed our meals immensely. Definitely an enjoyable hole in the wall place. Service was a bit slow but friendly.

Really enjoyed this place for lunch. Friendly staff, good food and I had several glasses of some Belgium style brewed with fruit or something. It was excellent! I guess that’s why I can’t recall exactly what I ate.

Beer isn’t the best but it looked like a cool little spot. They bombed the chips and salsa and the guacamole was old, tasteless and browning. When we mentioned it did not look fresh, the waitress said it was ‘fresh’ because it was ‘made yesterday’. Umm no! In my opinion, fresh guacamole is made to order– not in advance. I will not be back! The beer is made for people who don’t know good beer. Stout was below par. Tourist don’t fall for this place, it’s meant just for you to take your money. Ask a local where to drink beer and have a good meal, because this place ain’t it.

I heard from multiple people that Eske was where it is at in Taos. I find myself to usually be supercritical of these types of places, because not because they were bad, but because they failed to live up to the hype. Eskes is one of those places. I must admit I thought it was very so-so. It’s one of those places that was not«that bad» but it was not«great» either. Eskes is very small and you have to make sure you parked in front of it. There’s some militant lady in the chili hut who will yell at you for money if you park in the big lot by the main drag. Eskes looks like it used to be an old house, it’s a quaint little environment. I would kind of like to hang out here and have a few beers. However, their beer selection is somewhat limited, with only two or three taps other than their own brew. Like everything else at Eskes, their beer was not«bad» but it sure wasn’t good. Their green chile beer was the best green chile beer I have ever had(mind you, I think green chile beer is pretty gross, but I tried it to be a sport). Their Red IPA was different, but neither blew my doors off. The food had awesome potential. Our appetizer was the soft pretzel. The big pretzel like you would find it ballgame(or wherever you buy pretzels) but it had so much salt! There was so much salt(How much salt was it?) There was so much salt I could feel my blood pressure rise while I sat there. My wife had some sort of turkey green chile stew that was phenomenal. I had a bratwurst sandwich that was to die for. However, it was served with mashed potatoes, which were cold! The service was excellent, our server was very helpful. She was friendly and my daughter made the comment she’s super nice and petty party to be here. However, to be fair it looked like the boats across from us, were not happy, I overheard them ask for a drink, and not get it and they looked like they were leaving upset. However, the other three tables I saw were getting waited on, and were very happy. Taos is a small town, so I was not surprised when a couple came in and the server instantly knew what they wanted a new them by name. Eskes strikes me as the kind of place the locals hang out at. I suppose if I lived in Taos, I would like hang out there as well. Over all, I give them a solid 3, but just not quite at a 4.

I want to immediately recommend the Artist Ale, and the Black Cat. Walking up to the building you’ll see a massive outdoor seating area, mostly picnic tables. As you walk in to the building it seems a little cramped, but when you’re working with a building that is over 100 years old, you cant be too picky. Please note, I said the building, not the brewery, is 100 years old. The bar top area is small, like 4 or 5 seats, and behind that you look directly into their tiny kitchen. No joke. I was a little blown away that guests could sit soooooooo close to where the food was prepared. It’s not a bad thing, I mean at least you can observe that they wash their hands and etc… They make sushi. I know that seems really strange, or at least it did for me. I’m in northern New Mexico, and at a «brew pub», and there is a white guy making me a California roll with in an arms reach. They didn’t have anything to crazy, mainly tuna, and salmon. I actually recommend eating their sushi rolls. It was a weird/awesome experience, and they next time I’m in the Taos area, I will definitely go back.
