Village Inn

One of the best breakfast chains still around. Their vegetables are fresh, skillets are amazing.

We attended Village Inn last weekend after a late night play at the Straz Center. We arrived around 11:30pm. It was pretty quiet inside as there were three tables occupied on the left side of the restaurant and three tables occupied on the right side of the restaurant. Pretty simple night for two servers. We were seated towards the end of the restaurant and it took at least five minutes for our server to come and take our drink order. We ordered a strawberry lemonade and a water.
I watched the waitress walk back to the kitchen area, fill her Styrofoam cup up with something and have a nice 2 – 3 minutes conversation with what looked like the night shift manager. She then walked to what I thought was going to be to our table but went to another table and was casually talking to them about their food that they had already ordered as we were walking in.
Obviously no time management nor common sense.
Five more minutes have passed and the hostess walks right next to us and starts moving tables near us for what looks like a big size group. (Still no drinks by the way.) I peak over towards the hostess stand and see a few high school kids making their arrangements for some late night grub.
About a dozen high school kids walk in and before they were even seated we got up and left.
Oh, and we still hadn’t received our drinks yet which was pathetic and the main reason we walked out.
The common sense move would be to put them away from people. You know they are going to be talkative and probably a little loud. Not because they are in high school, but because there are 12 of them and they will start raising their voices to hear one another. The restaurant was wide open!

Overall poor/​average. My first impression was it is SLOW (that includes the free wifi speed too). I suppose if I was retired or didn’t have anything to do or didn’t care about internet speed or delivery of my meal it would not matter but my time is actually valuable. So we walked in and stood (nobody around). Eventually I was seated and then we sat and sat and sat. At some point coffee appeared and then I waited even longer to place an order. The food took over 30 minutes to show up and the place wasn’t even that busy. Not acceptable and demonstrates incompetence.
I ordered Philly jack eggs Benedict with the the toast and I think they probably went out to a henhouse and waited for a chicken to actually lay an egg. The order finally showed up, and they forgot my toast and had to go back to the kitchen to make it. The food was decent when it showed up. Overall I’d probably not repeat unless I had an hour to kill and nothing better to do.

Stepping into this bastion of mediocrity, I walked into this ghost of diners past looking for breakfast.
The hostess took me to a booth — my preference. The drink runner approached and asked for my beverages — coffee and water I responded. A pot of coffee, a cup of coffee and water arrived quickly. Never have I had coffee so hot and a glass so thin that I could not drink it. The blend was horrible.
I ordered a Denver omelette. Wheat toast. Home fries. When the food arrived the omelette was AT BEST warm (more to the cold side). So that tells me it sat there while my waitress sat somewhere else letting it get cold. The toast was above average. The home fries were portioned kiddie size.
You can do much better than this place. Trust me. MUCH BETTER!!!

Excellent food and friendly service from everyone! My boyfriend and I have started to go every other Tuesday and we get served by our lovely server Lindsey! She knows how to order our orders to the extent where we do not know how to place our order without her! Overall a very friendly staff, the best chocolate chip pancakes you’ll ever scarf down, and very clean establishment!

Presently greeted here which we haven’t been to in forever! The omelette gave me a T.B.O., I ate too much and then spend the rest of the day sleeping!

This diner is mostly known for its breakfast but they def have good lunch items «All World Double Cheeseburger» is really good, and they have decent dinner. I gave it a 4 star because there dinner is so so! Great customer service too!

This restaurant is very clean, the waitress was working alone (but did a great job), and they served up a great breakfast at a reasonable price. I would definitely come back.

So I’ll make this short and sweet. Service well we walked in and there was no one in sight at the cash register or on the floor. Obviously they were open but we’re very short staffed like 3 people total. The cook the cashier and the waitress. The food is always good. You’re hungry they’ll feed you type of stuff. You really can’t mess up eggs well I can but that’s another story. I got the sirloin and eggs and substituted the pancakes for strawberry crêpe. It’s good wholesome food. Today’s special was a wait hahah

This place always smells like a dirty nursing home. Their food is decent but between the wait staff and the condition of the restaurant I would avoid it.

I have been to this Village Inn for brunch a number of times now. They have good options such as their various breakfast skillet meals (around $ 9 or so) or a pick four combination (under $ 8) where you can mix and match several items of your choosing. They also have a kids menu with several options under $ 5. I really enjoy all day breakfast and this satisfies this for me.
Overall, food quality is okay (greasy, high calorie — but you would be expecting that coming here) and service is okay. It isn’t the best breakfast place in town, but it is not the worst either.

Good dinner vibe. Family friendly. Good breakfast, we had pancakes and hash brown and eggs Benedict everything was good. Hostess and waitress was friendly and served us well.

I have been frequenting this place for a few months now. Good value and quality food. Service has always been adequate and friendly.
The variety of menu is of special mention. You can choose regular American fare with lots of calories. .or they have a number of lean and healthy items to choose from.
I tend to do breakfast most often because if the healthy combinations you can choose from. The omelets are light and fluffy. Most if all… you can get a good complete breakfast for under 10 bucks. Highly recommend.

Love the consistency of Village Inn you know you can always get good service and good food. I had a Skillet and my wife got the more healthy meal grilled chicken both were good. The only thing is a few years ago they changed their pancakes they used to be awesome they are still good but they were better.

I love this place. I have been coming here for many years, not as much lately as I used to. It is always consistently good for breakfast. Nothing fancy, just good food.

Ate here for the first time recently and was quite surprised.
It has a very IHOP feel to it, but the food tastes much more homemade and the portion sizes are larger. There are also a great selection of pies which is always nice. The wait staff is friendly and willing to work with substitutions.

We love this place for breakfast. The staff is great and food is so fresh. If you are looking for a quality meal that won’t break the bank, like some places in town for a family of 4, then this is your place.
