The food is decent(for breakfast… my only trip there) though nothing spectacular. Still, you don’t head to a place like this for fine dining, so that’s just fine. Indeed, it’s a super comfy spot and the server in the morning was incredibly friendly and I left her a hefty tip. What I didn’t like was that they opened late. I haaaaaaate when places open late. I could see this wasn’t their prime sales time, but still: if you say you open at a certain time, you should be open. All that said, I’d definitely go there next time I’m in Tampa. It’s a handy place to meet friends before they go to work! I’ll just be prepared for them to open late, I guess. :p

Met Larry years ago and he is a great guy. He pours all his sweat & tears into his Resturant everyday. The Food there is wonderful. It’s just like grandmas home cooking. I have eatin there several times and keep going back for more. The prices can’t be beat and you get a lot for the money! Go early for lunch because the place fills up quickly. Oh and the wait staff does an excellent job attending to your needs. This place is a must see, you’ll love it too!

Have used Tony’s for a couple of catered events. The food is good, price is awesome and his service is excellent.

This place is *not* clean, by any stretch of the imagination. It may be the dirtiest restaurant I’ve ever been in. If I hadn’t been dragged in by my customer I would have turned right around and walked out. I ordered a Cuban sandwich, and then sat down with the group I was with. They had all ordered hot meals and were eating while I waited for my sandwich. The waitress asked me why I didn’t get anything to eat, and when I told her I did order a sandwich she said«oh, did you tell Tony, he won’t remember that, let me go make your sandwich». Huh? The Cuban came out quickly and was actually pretty good, hence the 2 stars versus the minimum 1 star. I’m sorry, I can’t look at a dirty floor, stained ceiling tiles, holes in the wall, etc, at a place that’s going to prepare food for me in a part of the establishment I *can’t* see!

We have eaten lunch here before many times and haven’t been n in awhile. We decided to try breakfast this morning(11÷7÷13). We were greeted by the familiar older gentleman and preceded to sit down. One we were settled a younger blonde girl with a ponytail came up to our table WITHPENANDPADANDJUSTSTOODTHERE. she DIDNTGREATUS, SAYHELLOORANYTHING. after A FEWMINUTESWEFIGUREDOUTTHEMENUEWAS on the wall. I said we would need a minute and she stormed off, huffed and threw her pen and pad down on the counter… still speaking not a word to us. Such a shame this woman caused this place to loose a customer and I will make sure NOT to recommend this place.

1929 is what the sign at the peak of the exterior of the restaurant says and I think that it indicates the last time it was upgraded or, for that matter, cleaned. Someone told me that it «has the best fried fish sandwich in Tampa!». BLECCH. I wouldn’t feed my cat«food» from this place. I happened to be in the area, went in and waked around the«dining room» before ordering. It is grimy, with stuffing sticking out of the torn booth covers; chunks of formica missing from the counters and booth frames, with the remaining parts held in place with little brad nails; grime on the steam tables; mop bucket with dirty mop water and mop sticking out, stored behind one of the booths; there was not one fluorescent light lens that did not have disgusting brown stains from past roof leaks; tiles missing from sections of the floor; clutter everywhere… I could go on and on. Shaking my head and being careful not to go too near the walls for fear that something would jump on me, I left without ordering. If the front of the house looks like this I can only imagine(although I wouldn’t want to) what the kitchen looks like and how dirty it must be back there… they must pay the Board of Health off. This is a place for blue collar working folks to eat at and attracts customers because of the price?! Might be good if you like Sal Mineo… and the squirts for a week… Wish I knew how to delete the 1 star that I accidently put at the top of this review… NOSTARS

I just ate here for a business luncheon. I have to say I was surprised by the quality of food. I actually think that Tony served me at lunch today, which was pretty awesome. the setting isn’t great, and it is pretty dumpy inside. the food was excellent, I got the lamb shank with rice and black beans. The lamb was prepared perfectly, and fell of the bone. The wasn’t really service to speak of, and you had to wait in line, which was a little annoying. But the food was great. If it weren’t for the service, I would have given it a better review. I couldn’t comment on pricing because the lunch was paid for…
