The White Closet

I live in Washington, DC and visited this store with my mom who lives in the area. The dresses were very well-​priced (at least compared to DC prices)! I am one of those brides who tried on far too many dresses and could not make up my mind, but I ended up finding «the» dress here. The staff was so patient and helpful; the dress I ended up buying was picked out by one of the sales associates, Kathy, and is not necessarily something I would have picked out for myself. I even flew down to have my dress altered with them, and Sarah was a very professional and talented seamstress. My dress fit perfectly the day of my wedding and I am so happy I chose this store for my dress.

Beautiful store. Warm environment. Intimate experience. Wonderful owner. Definitely worth a visit if you are looking for your perfect dress!

Making an appointment to visit this boutique was easy and very quick to do. The dresses are beautiful and the sales associates are very sweet and helpful. Cathy, I think that’s her name :-/​, was very kind and pulled dresses that captured the vision the bride to be had for her big day. Although we did not purchase a dress from this boutique, I recommend any bride searching for that special dress to make an appointment here.

I’ve gone dress shopping in NYC (this is where I live) however most of my family and friends live in the Tampa and Central Florida area. That said, a friend recommended I book an appointment at The White Closet during one of my visits. I’m so happy I did. From the moment I walked in I was greeted with smiles and such professionalism. You can’t imagine how many times I’ve been dress shopping and the sales associates seem to have a chip on their shoulder. I mean, this is the wedding industry, shouldn’t everyone be happy?
The White Closet Bridal staff have been extremely patient with me, especially knowing that I live out of state. They have a wide range of styles and I appreciated their honesty in letting me know what works for me and what doesn’t. After several choices I’ve decided to get my dress from here. The intimate setting and the excellent customer service is definitely worth it. The prices are amazing as well.

My first experience was helping a friend find a wedding dress of her dreams. She was so delighted with not only the dress (which was gorgeous!!), but the staff who were above and beyond attentive delivered an amazing experience.
They were all were so kind, helpful, and made the experience very memorable for the bride, as well as for her mom and grandmother. The entire process was easy, worry free, and we all felt truly taken care of.
They definitely felt you made me and my dress a top priority. The bride received so many compliments on the dress. She was stunning and you could see all over her face that she was completely in love with the dress.

I have two experiences with The White Closet. My first experience was with my girlfriend. She purchased her wedding dress there and it was an awesome experience. They were so incredibly attentive. The consultant stuck to the budget and knew exactly what would look good on her. Every dress she pulled looked amazing on my friend. She picked a dress and decided to buy off the rack. There was an imperfection so they tried to fix that before finalizing the sale… which I thought was extremely nice and very rare. Most shops once you buy it it’s yours. Because they couldn’t correct the imperfection they allowed her to order a band new one. That one came in right on time. The seamstress did an amazing job on the alterations and bustle as well.
My second experience was with my sister. We went to The White Closet because of my recommendation. She too had an amazing experience. The new location is much better and the inside is so cute. My sisters dress also turned out amazing and the consultant, who was not the same as the first time, was also amazing. There was no high pressure sales, and my sister found the dress of her dreams.
If you are looking for an intimate experience, with knowledgable bridal consultants, and a great selection of current gowns I highly recommend The White Closet.

I am eternally grateful to Cindy and the White Closet Staff for helping me find the dress of my dreams. They went above and beyond in helping me discern between the many dresses I had fallen in love with in their shop. I had been wedding dress shopping in San Francisco and New York and had yet to receive the service I received at the White Closet Bridal Shop. Thank you for giving me such a pleasurable experience in finding my dress.

This review is from the perspective of the bridesmaid as I’m done with a friend to shop for her wedding dress.
Service: When I arrived the front staff was very friendly. The person who helped us while my friend was trying on dresses however was not and seemed to be rushing is out of the door. She didn’t seem willing to try to stay within my friends budget and was very rushy. That part alone is what turned us off to wine to stay there longer and Try on more.
Dresses: There were a wide assortment of dresses, But not that all that fit into everybody’s budget. I say the starting range was about $ 1200 and up. Wow this is not expensive from some for most it can be out of budget and be demoting when looking for wedding dresses. Some people are on a budget looking for something $ 1000 and under.
Overall: Overall I’m not sure if I recommend this place unless you’re looking for a specific dress but they might have in stock. The bridesmaid dress selection was very sparse as well.

My sister started her dress shopping experience at the White Closet & was not disappointed. The salon only takes two appointments at a time, so you definitely get the intimate feel & the stylists full attention. The salon is clean, bright & decorated adorably with chandeliers & light blue & yellow accents. They were able to accomodate a large entourage & seated all 5 of us comfortably on chairs by the pedestal. My sister’s stylist really listened to her wants. She stayed within budget & pulled 2 dresses that were very close to «the one». We didn’t end up purchasing the dress here but would recommend it to anyone! I especially liked how they encouraged you to take pictures in the dresses. They are very professional, knowledgable & genuinely helpful.

I must first say that I really enjoyed my dress appointment at this store. They only take 2 appointments at one time, so it’s a very intimate and warm experience. The dressing rooms are very spacious, with more than enough room to fit two people and a number of gowns! The girl I worked with was very nice, willing to pull a variety of dresses and let me try on quite a few. When I was the only customer, the owner herself stepped in and also helped me pick out gowns. They made sure to stay within my budget and allowed us to take photos of me in each gown.
Why am I giving this store 3 stars? Because despite my entire experience, their sale tactics were questionable. When one gown was pulled, the owner mentioned that she could give an off the rack discount if I bought the gown as is. When I found another gown (that ended up being the one) and asked about an off the rack discount, the girl told me that the dress was too new and they had just gotten it in, so they weren’t ready to sell it off the rack. When I asked the brand of the dress, she told me it was a private label and that they were «the only store» that carried that particular dress.
OK, so I walk out of the store leaning towards one dress, loving it and thinking I’ll probably go back. But luckily I had another appointment lined up at another store, and lo and behold, my dress is there! I felt a little lied to at that point. I ended up buying my dress from the other store because it was cheaper. However, there was an accessory piece that I liked at White Closet, so when I called just two weeks later asking to make an appointment, I wanted to make sure they still had my dress so I could try the dress on with the accessory. What does the lady on the phone tell me? They had sold it off the rack!
After that phone call, I felt a bit betrayed. While there, I really enjoyed my experience. After leaving, I not only learned that they were not the «only store» to carry the dress, but apparently wouldn’t give me an off the rack discount for a dress I loved, but were willing to do so for another bride two weeks later…
So, for other brides out there, make sure to do some research on the pricing before buying your dress from this store!

Cindy at The White Closet was a phenomenal help. Being a first time bride, and The White Closet being my first stop (and ended up being my only stop) was a great experience. She listened to my likes and dislikes and was able to stay within my price range.
I ended up purchasing a gown off the rack and I absolutely love it.
