I was at USF event because of my job and I decided to stop here with my girlfriend. She kept talking about Taco Bus and I was like hey there’s actual one right here close to USF(Sadly I had never been there before while I attended USF) Let’s go! We get there and it seems ok. There was a couple that had definitely pulled an all night-er and you could tell because of the X on the girl’s hand lol, so it was definitely a college place. My girlfriend I got some tacos and a shared a quesadilla. Which were really good. I enjoyed them but what I didn’t like to much was the cashier, she wasn’t very helpful or happy(which I feel comes as part of the job when working at a food place), but I’m thinking hey everyone has an off day. However after when I first go to pick up my food after my buzzer goes off. She’s no where to be found and my food is just sitting there. I come back a second time because I wanted a fork and after I asked her she acted like it was a hassle and didn’t even look me in the eye. The food was good, cashier was eh but I would recommend it, or at least going to the original location because the service at there is spot on.

Wow can’t believe how bad the quality has gone down… The food quality was Terrible, place was dirty, rice was dried, order was messed up. We should’ve just gone to taco bell.

Taco Bus is one of those rites of passage you just have to experience while living or studying in Tampa Bay. The business is local, the food is good, and the vibe has that eclectic feel that screams Tampa Bay. They have multiple locations, but at this one I get the Torta usually whereas I get the burrito in St. Pete. I highly recommend the torta if you’re something filling with great bang for your buck. The bread is super soft and savory, and it complements the innards of the sandwich. Fresh greens, your choice of meat and zesty sour cream and cheese sauce make it such a fulfilling meal. The service here has always been pretty quick, even in the wee hours of the night. The menu is pretty expansive and I’ve had some other items(the nachos and tacos here are notable for me) but the torta is my definite fave for $ 7.99.

The food is meh, have had way better Mexican food and the prices are way too high for that quality. The one I went to, the cashier seemed to hate her job or was in a particular bad mood. We ordered the queso and she never told us that they didn’t have queso. Then I ordered sour cream on the side and the chef was never told so he seemed frazzled too when I asked him. The chicken was dry and didn’t have much seasoning. Needless to say, that money is better spent elsewhere.

I had a carne asada quesadilla. It got plenty of delicious steak. The service was fast. The whole sitting area looked clean but I felt this place was just like any decent fast food joint. The menu was boring. The shrimp has come back to the menu as one of the protein choice but they charged extra for it. The pricing is average. It’s a good place to eat Mexican but it was not very exciting.

My fiancée and I LOVE«The Bus» as we endearingly call Taco Bus. As vegetarians, it can be difficult to find anything other than rice and bean filling for tacos. However, Taco Bus has SOMANY vegetarian options. My personal favorites are the Rajas Con Queso and Butternut Squash taco fillings while my fiancée keeps it classic with the rice and beans. Either way, you can’t go wrong. Hands down, best tacos we have ever had.

NOTMYFAVORITEBUS, BUT I’D STILLGOHERE = If compared against Tex-Mex or nation-wide ‘Mexican’ chains, Taco Bus often has better tasting food at a comparable price. At there’s a good variety of gluten free or vegetarian options(as well as dairy free substitutes). However, this Taco Bus seems to lag behind other of the same… probably because of the staff behind the window. Ah well – I typically only go here if I’m hungry late at night. FOODMARREDBYSERVICE = The food is pretty good. Whether it’s the Tacos, Quesadillas, or even just a Tostada – ingredients are lightly seasoned and cooked well allowing each individual flavor to get tasted and work with others. Sometimes the wrappers get soggy fast and break apart in minutes. Throughout all that, the people taking your order or delivering it to your table don’t seem to have any personality. Getting orders wrong is typical – at least they’ll fix it without a fuss but seriously… would a smile hurt you? And please time the food better so it all comes out together. DON’T BRINGTHEPARTYHERE = Maybe since it’s limited by location, the layout here isn’t as ‘fun’ as other Taco Busses. No outdoor dining area. And forget about dining for parties of 6 or more. Yes, there’s a long, group table at the center but the stools are bolted to the ground and spaced further apart than necessary. Dining on those tables, your group of 6 will feel so far apart.

Such a great night spot. Open late and the food is delicious. It’s a quick in an out spot that you can order and not wait for a long time for your food. Parking can be troublesome when the location is full since there are not a lot spaces. The area can get kind of loud since its so close to usf and there are a lot of students.

I always saw that this place got high ratings, so I bookmarked it to check it out one day. Well, nothing special about this place. I can definitely tell that the ingredients, that are used, are not high quality at all. All flavors are very bland. The people in the kitchen got my order wrong. But I did not bother to make a big deal out of it. I just do not understand why people rate it so highly. Will not come back here. This is an average fastfood joint to me.

Mediocre at best. This place used to be great when they first starts and having more locations. They used to have an authentic touch to their food but now it just tastes like white Mexican food. They used to own Taco Monterrey which was what they replaced this with, but they have their original location in Plant City which still serves authentic Mexican Food I got a Carne Asada Quesadilla and my boyfriend got the Pibil El Plato. The meats on both were okay and had flavor, but wasn’t the best. The quesadilla itself was sort of bland, could have used more cheese and the rice and refried beans in el plato wasn’t flavorful. Used to be excited to come to this place but other than this being the first place my boyfriend and I went to together, I wouldn’t come back here again.

Just had a soda. Came here with some friends after going to the Flavorefest conference held every year at Crossover Community Church. Its open real late so its a good hangout spot if you get the late night munchies.

Cozy little place. Food has great flavors. Had the papos, with the pork seasoned with achiote & orange, quite good. I would recommend it.

Worse taco place ever… omg, how can they have 5 locations in Tampa if all they serve is 100% crap. How can anyone screw up a torta? Well, tacobus did! Tasteless meat and insipid and tasteless sandwich. Never mind the so call mango ceviche that taste like they served out of a Sysco jar and to our table. Bottom line stay far away from the worse ever wanna be Mexican taco truck. Sincerely A real Mexican!!! P. S.Unless you are Mexican and have been raised eating Mexican cuisine, then the review has to be read as not really true recommendation… Sorry, but that’s a fact.

This was my first time eating at Taco Bus(I know, I know) and while I wasn’t blown away(as in, «All other tacos wallow in your shadow!») given the crazy amount of hype surrounding this place, it was a very good meal and I’ll certainly be coming back; whether that’s here or at one of their other locations. I was coming in hot after a two-hour-turned-five-hour trip to the *lovely(*no, really!) Toyota of Tampa Bay and hadn’t eaten anything that day, so I burst through the Bus doors with my stomach growling like the Great Pit of Carkoon, hungry for Jedi sacrifices. It turned out tacos and cheese would suffice. I was too hungry to bother reading the entire menu and the words«Based on a 5,000 Year Old Mayan Recipe» jumped out at me — because, well, Mayans are(were?) cool — so I ordered the Cochinita Pibil. The front of their menu said«Broken English, Perfectly Spoken,» so I hope Mr. Cash Register didn’t mind me saying Cochinita Pibil in «Broken Spanish, Horribly Pronounced.» My gastrointestinal Sarlacc demanded more, so I combo’d the hell out of my meal and topped it off with chips and queso. The food came out quickly and I probably ate it faster than I’ve ever eaten a meal. I’m going to try and recount a few details from the blur of that feeding frenzy. The soft tacos were a little on the small side to me, about the size of my palm, but they didn’t skimp on the meat and the shredded pork in achiote and bitter orange had a great, citrusy flavor. I doused the tacos in their Salsa Verde(roasted jalapeño salsa), and ended up turning my queso a milky-green with the stuff. It was goooooooood(pronounced: goooooooooood). It had a great spicy, smoky flavor and it added a nice kick to the queso and tacos. The queso was topped with some roasted corn, tomato, and pepper which was a nice touch. The queso was thick without turning to sludge, and thin enough without being water, AKA prime dipping, folks. Top-notch queso. While I ate the two tacos in about 30 seconds flat, they had great flavor, and the rice was good as well. Really my only knock might be the taco portion size, but all in all I left satisfied, and I look forward to returning and trying other menu items.

What an awesome late night place to eat. I always get the burrito prenado with everything. It’s quite filling. I also ask for sour cream since it doesn’t come with it and it’s extra $. Sadly, they recently changed the menu and I miss the garlic shrimp they used to have as well as other menu items. I used to eat here all the time but have been eating here less since their menu change. It’s still a great place for a post-going out meal! A lot of their menu items are yummy and you kind of have to try different meats to see which one you like best. I think the best part of their menu is the green taco bus-made salsa they make. When I take my food to-go, I always have to ask for extra because it’s so GOOD.

It has been awhile since I’ve been to the USF location of Taco Bus as I am loyal to the original Hillsborough location. I decided to order online today and pick it up for lunch. The online ordering process was easy but they the earliest pick-up time is 20 minutes out. Which I guess would be beneficial if it’s busy at the location but there was no one in line when I went. I could have just ordered at the counter. Also, my order wasn’t even ready when I arrived. Anyway, I got the torta sandwich. I choose Al Pastor as my meat since it’s new(to me at least). I usually ask for no refried beans but I’m glad I decided to keep it in the torta today because the filling was seriously lacking. I’ve had Al Pastor pork before at other Mexican places and Taco Bus’s version has no flavor. I should have stuck to my usual cochinita pibli. There wasn’t that much veggies or mayo either, just a lot of bread. I drenched the torta in their red and green hot sauces. I also saw that shrimp was no longer on the menu. Taco Bus has gotten more commercialized of course. One of the draws of Taco Bus before was the different types of meat they used to have, including lengua(beef tongue) which was the most tender beef ever! Now it’s becoming more generic, at least at this location. I am going to just stick with the Hillsborough location unless I am super craving Taco Bus at work.

All I ever hear is how great Taco Bus is but I’m not impressed. I went with a group of friends after helping them move and none of us had been before. I don’t think anyone plans on going back either. It took forever to even get the food once we ordered. The Hibiscus Lemonade tasted awful so we ended up throwing it away. I had a burrito that was nothing special and wasn’t even better than Taco Bell for twice as much. My food was very bland and not great quality. There was not a clean table in the place and the rest of the restaurant matched. I just don’t think Taco Bus lived up to the hype.

This is a nice Mexican option that we rotate in our eating selections(maybe come a few times a month). I will say though, I had to stop ordering chicken items after three times in a row I came in to get pollo verde and it had bones in it. Their picadillo is what I’ve been getting lately and it’s great as a torta! The torta bread is unlike any other bread I’ve tasted: very soft, with a light crispy crust. I think they even butter and toast it before serving. One thing that is so weird that they started doing is cutting their burritos in half; who does that? Now it’s no longer a burrito, it’s a wrap. Nonetheless, still a good lunch option if you’re in the area.

This Taco Bus just doesn’t measure up. I stopped by today to buy one of their tshirts as a present for my nephew before I move out of tampa. I asked the guy at the counter if they had the shirts in kids sizes. He went to the back to check and informed me they carry them but currently they were all in the managers car, who was not there at the time. But I was welcome to come back later. I was annoyed, but decided since I was there I might as well pick up some lunch for my boyfriend. I ordered his standard butternut squash burrito and a watermelon Agua fresca, but of course they were out of watermelon, so pineapple instead. While my boyfriend liked the taste of his burrito, it definitely wasn’t «extra large» or worth $ 7.48 without any sides. I think Taco Bus needs to hold off on more locations and work on consistency and value at their current locations.
