This subway has been pretty reliable as a sandwich shop. The people who work here are nice and very accommodating, even when a customer has concerns over food allergies and potential contamination. The only quirk about this place are the sodas from their soda machine in the back. I don’t know where they get their ice or what kind of water they use to make the ice but it seems to be gritty and dirty sometimes. As much as I recommend getting a sandwich from this place, you’re better off grabbing a soda from the Publix next door

I hesitate to call Subway an underdog, but right next to Publix, they are. Subway has some advantages, though: convenience, coupons, and nutrition information. Minor advantage #1: It took very little time to get into Subway and place our orders. Most of that time was spent outside looking for a curb cut(so if you use a wheelchair, you may as well park in front of Publix, because that’s the nearest ramp). Publix often has a short line for subs. Minor advantage #2: Coupons. Subway is pretty good about mailing these out, and we were happy to use a «buy 1 six-inch sub and a drink, get a six-inch sub free» coupon when we visited. I’ve never seen a coupon for a Publix sub. Minor advantage #3: Nutrition information. Since it’s all published online, we were able to calculate Weight Watchers points for our sandwiches(hint: black olives on a 6-inch are zero points!). Publix is happy to tell you how many ounces of cheese(and/or meat) went onto your sub if you ask, but you’ll have to guess the points on the bread and sauces. I can never be swayed from the cult of Publix subs, but sometimes I don’t want to spend the points(or the money) on the very best; I’d rather get something decent that costs less. And that’s a niche Subway seems quite competent to inhabit.
