Salerno’s is a great little family owned and operated Italian restaurant in NW Hillsborough County. You’ll find Salerno’s in the Home Depot shopping center at the corner of Hillsborough Avenue, Memorial Highway, and Sheldon Road. One other landmark is the big Walgreen’s drug store on the corner of this intersection. Salerno’s can be found in a little strip of stores inside the shopping plaza, anchored on one end by Charann’s Tavern. The restaurant sits in between an H & R Block store and Next Day Signs. Salerno’s is tricky to locate, but well worth the effort. From the outside this place does not look very exciting, but don’t let that stop you from giving them a try. There’s room for about ten tables inside Salerno’s, and the place seems very popular with the locals. The restaurant was about half-full when I was there, and they were doing a brisk carry-out business. The atmosphere is relaxed and low-key, with folks enjoying a nice quiet dinner and bottle of wine. Speaking of wine, Salerno’s has a selection of about a dozen different wines, and those were being sold at a pretty good clip when I was there. If you’re there for lunch, Salerno’s has the traditional hand-tossed pizzas, entrée salads, soups, sandwiches, calzones, and lunch-sized pasta entrées from which to choose. For dinner they add some very traditional appetizers like toasted ravioli, fried calamari, mussels, an antipasto platter, and a nice Caprese salad. There are about a dozen different dinner entrées with lobster ravioli, lasagna, manicotti, linguine & clams, chicken Alfredo /Francese /Marsala. eggplant parmesan, mussels marinara, and an interesting dish called Shrimp Pichi Pachi on the menu, with prices between $ 10 and $ 15. The Pichi Pachi entrée turned out to be sautéed shrimp with diced Roma tomatoes, onions, garlic, freshly-chopped basil, and olive oil, served over spaghetti. All of the dinner entrées are served with a side salad and an order of garlic knots, but I was able to substitute their homemade Pasta Fagioli soup in place of the salad.(They also had Minestrone soup). Salerno’s offers cannoli, tiramisu, and cheesecake for dessert. My meal was fantastic, and the total bill was about $ 15. Salerno’s is a fabulous spot for Italian food if you live in the Westchase, Citrus Park, or Town ‘n Country area. Pass up the Italian chain restaurants, and give these folks a try!

Cute little hole in the wall family owned Italian place. Our server was the very personable owner. Located in the Home Depot strip mall, just passed the corner of Sheldon and Hillsborough. Don’t let the small exterior fool you. The food and service were excellent. Trust me and get away from the multitude of Italian chains and try it. The prices are very reasonable. $ 10 for eggplant parm that comes with salad, pasta and 2 garlic knots! Forgetaboutit! Delicious food, I tried the pizza and it was freshly made and tasty! The proof is in the sauce and the sauce was supreme. It’s fairly small inside but clean and comfy. The house wines are a very reasonable $ 5 per glass.

A true Gem. Cute eatery. Wedding soup, and Ceasar salad were great. Salad greens very fresh. All hot entrees came out steaming which is exactly what I like. Spaghetti with meat sauce was wonderful as was the Clams with Linguine. Best Ever Garlic Bread Knots!!! Good service. This is such a delicious place. But it is easy to miss if you don’t know the exact location. Suggest making the Restaurant name more visible by adding Salermo on the Front Windows, and enhancing the entrance so the eye is drawn to this tasty stop. Just sayin… :-)

Had Salerno’s pizza, antipasto, fried calamari, and spaghetti and meatballs tonight. they were all excellent… Much better that the NY Grille pizza and antipasto we got the other night. The pizza was cooked properly and had a terrific flavor. The lightly breaded calamari were delicious and not rubbery. The antipasto was delicious meat with practically no lettuce. Lots of delicious olives and roasted peppers. The spaghetti and meatballs had a nice sauce and was cooked properly. I will definitely go back again when I am in town. Go there… you won’t be disappointed…

I came here because the reviews were awesome. I guess I pumped it up too much because I was really disappointed. The salad tasted funny. It was terrible. I am not sure if it was old bagged lettuce or the fact that there was hidden gorgonzola on there that I wasn’t expecting. but i couldn’t eat it. The antipasto plate was amazing. I would definitely come back for that. The garlic knots were also very good. We got the chicken Marsala which was so sweet it tasted like sugar. The manager said they make it with pure Marsala and no flour. Ether way he didn’t seem to care that we couldn’t eat it or offer or suggest something else. Our son got the fettuccine Alfredo and that was really awesome. It was the best that we had on the table. The sauce was absolutely home made. It was also the only hot dish beside the pizza. The pizza has the best reviews and I am floored. Where are you guys eating pizza from? It wasn’t anything to write home about. Please take an extra 30 mins drive and go get pizza from pomodoros in brandon. The service wasn’t all that great either. The waiter was fine and he was busy as it was crowded, but having worked in the field there are still ways to make your customers feel special. And I’m still amazed that the manager had no type of customer service.

Great little Italian place! We are out of town and just looking for a sit down place to fill us up– this totally fit the bill and then some. We split pizza, manicotti, and lasagna– every bite was wonderful! Highly recommended!

Nice little Italian place located near Charans(same owners although not connected directly in the square) in front of the Home Depot in Town & Country. I never really see the place too busy and I do hope that they get more business as we were impressed by this place and hope it sticks around. We searched around for the website for some time or even a menu but had no luck. We called them and they emailed a menu to us. They were super friendly and said their website would be up in the next few weeks and they have been having a lot of people calling and asking about it. We ended up ordering take out during the week. I ordered the chicken parmigiana. It was great and cooked perfectly. It was fairly large and probably could have been split for two people. It is nice to have this place in the neighborhood and I look forward to ordering again soon.

Grabbed a take out pizza. Place was close by. Service was speedy. Pie was ok. Crust was thin and crispy. Not great. Not terrible. But better than the average local pizza spot around here.

Love this place! The pizzas, Lasagna, Chicken Francese are great. We eat or takeout from here at least once a week and they’ve been consistently great. James and David make sure you get what you’re looking for and this hidden gem shouldn’t be missed

small and quaint little italian restaurant in the town & country area. me and the misses randomly decided to pop in as we wanted to enjoy a very low key dinner. best part, the prices here for each dish were pretty decent(ranging from about $ 8-$ 12 for each dish) & surprisingly didn’t break the wallet at all! Aside from another person who was dining by himself, we were the only ones in the restaurant which was perfect because we felt as if we had the entire restaurant to ourselves! Our waiter David was super attentive to our needs & was such a gracious host to us — Thanks David! He recommended us a few dishes until we finally decided on our plan of action. We ordered the Chicken fettuccine alfredo and our waiter was more than pleased to split the portions up for us evenly as we were sharing that night. The tiramisu tasted like it was in the fridge a little too long as it was a little on the icy side when we bit into it so i may skip that one during our next visit. for a nice quite and intimate dinner, go on and give this place a shot!

We decided to try this place the other day. Walked in and sat ourselves(didn’t see anyone). Grabbed our own menus. Girl came out twice and didn’t see us. We almost left. But once she did see us we had a great dinner. Food was a lot better than most Italian restaurants. They only have beer and wine but that’s ok with us. Price was very reasonable. We will definitely go back! We had the spaghetti with sausage, garlic knots, fried ravioli, pasta alla vodka, Caesar salad and Italian wedding soup. Everything was delicious and seemed homemade.

Cute little place. Very traditional neighborhood Italian feel. They have a nice lil lunch menu with various submarine sandwiches and pasta dishes. The regular menu has a nice variety and reasonable prices as well. Apps from $ 6-$ 8 for toasted ravioli, calamari, mussels or antipasto. They have several salads(spinach, Caesar, garden and caprese), soups are pasta fagioli, minestrone and a soup of the day(Italian wedding when I was there). They have some fin pizza combos or build your own and a nice selection of reasonably priced traditional Italian offerings: linguine & clams, chicken Alfredo, manicotti, pichi pachi, lasahna, penne ala vodka etc. The wine list includes house wines by the glass($ 5) and various bottles of mostly I-talian vino, most also available by the glass. Beers are $ 3.25 for domestics bud, bud light, Mich ultra and Amberbock and the STEAL price of $ 3.50 for imports: Estrella Damm, Stella and craft of the month(this month’s is three daughter’s Bemini). Dessert offerings are cannollis, NY cheesecake, and Tiramisu. Salerno’s is in a kind of mini strip mall across from Hime Depot next to H&R Block, a dentist and Charann’s Tavern(where Memorial Hwy meets Hillsborough).

No business ever makes it in this location but I really hope this place does. Very friendly people, cute décor, great Italian music. The chicken Caesar salad was really good. Great dressing, not your typical dressing, seemed homemade. The pizza bianco was very delicious. They have a small but nice selection of wine.
