This was our first experience as Royal Pet Resort and I can say we will return. I called this morning to make an appt which they said they could get my pup in today no problem. My Boston Terrier needed to get up to date on his rabies vaccination so it was nice to be able to do this here as well. One thing I was a little perturbed about is the fact that I had to pay a $ 15 rush fee simply because they do not put certain breeds in kennels once they are done with the grooming which means from start to finish they must be accompanied at all times. While I appreciate this I don’t feel I should be charged an additional $ 15 for this service. With that said I was very pleased with the grooming and nail cutting and I could tell my pup enjoyed it as well. Afterwards, you must check out the doggie bakery, SO CUTE. It’s full of doggie biscuits, raw hide and special treats.
I highly recommend utilizing the Unilocal coupon. I purchased the voucher valued at $ 20 for just $ 10. There is also a $ 5 off just for checking in which of course can not be combined but nice to know in the future.
Overall a good experience and we will be returning.

NO PITBULLS OR PIT MIXES; that being said, the prices are pretty high, but they have a wide variety of cookies.

We have been using Royal Pets for the last three years, and we absolutely love their service. When we first got to Tampa we used the other big box stores, but Royal Pets has a unique type of service where you really feel like your pet is treated like royalty, but you’re not charge as one.
The groomers can give you a varied experience, so if you find one that you like, make sure you stick with them!
Very clean, great assortment, and a local business, what’s not to love about this place.

**My review is based solely on the store itself. I did not use grooming veterinarian or boarding services of this business.**
My wife and I stopped in here to pick up dog food because we noticed that was an excellent Unilocal deal, and that the establishment had equally good Unilocal reviews.
We came only for dog food but it appears that this business also offers boarding, grooming, and it looked like there may have even been veterinarian services available. The location is a good one right off of Dale Mabry, and when you go inside the business is clean, well organized, and had everything we thought a discerning pet owner would expect to see in a pet store.
The prices were average, however with the Unilocal deal including a Unilocal check in deal, buying a bag of dog food here was a terrific value. The only opportunity for improvement that we found was that the young lady working the cash register seemed disinterested, frustrated, and borderline annoyed when we tried to redeem the coupons we had. Happy ending to the story is that she required a manager to figure out how to properly use these particular coupons, and the manager was beyond nice and accommodating.

Always very helpful employees when I visit. They also have very great food selections for my pups and at the most decent price I can find around the area. Highly recommended! The only thing is I think the Himalayan chews are pretty overpriced here

I absolutely love this place! I never thought I’d leave my ‘babies’ (felines) anywhere — but in an emergency (sudden) situation — I was in need of leaving my home w/​my precious Tonkinese cats. It was a Sunday afternoon and I had to do a last minute search — to get away from the dirt, debris and chemical smell from a sudden mold remediation service. This place not only accommodated my cats at such short notice — but, took the time to take pics all three days & nights — so I can see my «kits» and be reassured of their safety & comfort. My babies were confused, disoriented and scared, but only for about a day & a half. It was such a relief to see how well adjusted and happy they became with the love and care they received from Ms. Laura (the «cat» person there). Thank you so much for making this a «purrfect» experience for me… and my «kits!». This will be a «home away from home» for them (whenever the need arises). I know they will be alright and I’ll have peace of mind!

We have been taking our dog here for several years now for grooming, daycare, and on occasion boarding. We also purchase his food/​treats/​toys here, because they have a rewards program where if you purchase I think 10 bags of food, your next one is free. The program also entails $ 5 off for every $ 50 spent. The staff is always helpful and courteous, and the ladies working in the store/​market are always very sweet to my dog.
I wanted to write a review because I dropped and picked my dog up from grooming today, and have to say that this was one of the best grooming sessions he has ever had. I do not believe Abbey has ever groomed my dog, but she did an exceptional job! I’m not very picky, and my dog usually always looks great after being groomed here, but he looked extra stunning today!

We take our Golden to the groomers and she has stayed at the resort when we have to make trips out of town, and we have ever had any complaints. The groomers are professional and caring, and with our older dog, being gentle is a must. She always comes out with her tail wagging, looking and smelling fabulous! I have taken her to the retail groomers before and there is a huge difference in service and cost. Definitely better at Royal Pets!

Great place with everything in one location for all your pets needs! Boarding, grooming, vet services, full store jam packed with food and goodies for tour fur babies! Even a doggie daycare during the day is located here, oh, and dog training classes too!!! Amazing place!

This place is so much better than any other groomers nearby. All of the staff are polite and gentle with our pups, which is especially important for our little malchi who is a rescue.
They get a trim and wash, polished nails, teeth cleaning, and it’s quality service each time.

My english bulldog «vacationed» here for 5 nights and she had so much fun she hardly wanted to leave! It was very obvious that she was spoiled and given tons of attention. I really loved the nightly pictures they sent me. This was the first time I’ve ever left her at a pet resort and I would not hesitate to take her back to Royal Pets! It might be a little pricy but it was worth it for the peace of mind that she was being well cared for.

I wouldn’t take my pet here if they were the last pet place on earth. The management is terrible! They don’t hire qualified, experienced employees and don’t train them properly. The owners seem to be all about the money and not the customer or employees.
This applies to all their locations from what I have seen.

So far this place is fine. I came here because I was looking for a special dog food FROMM and they carry it. They also had a 10 for 20 groupon available. It’s a nice selection of healthy dog food items. It also seems they have a play area outside and an overnight dog sitting option. In the back there is a vet. It looks like a great alternative to your pet smarts and pet supermarkets. I haven’t used their other services so I can’t comment on it.

I wish my health care was as outstanding and economical as my dog’s! The employees are very knowledgeable and curteous. I have had bad vet experiences in the past, but this is a one stop shop for all of my 125 lbs. puppy’s needs. No breed bias! Most vets see a large, powerful breed and immediately go for the muzzle. Not at Royal Pets. Everyone seems to have as much fun with him as he does with them! The Wellness Plan is all inclusive for a healthy pet and economical. Thank you to the veterinarians and the entire staff!

The store appearance and cleanliness is excellent
The girls that work there I think their names are Pat n Betsy are very nice, curtious and helpful.
However the store is from what I seen not managed very well at all! The Manager some Spanish guy doesn’t seem to be to nice to the employees and when I asked h I’m a question I couldn’t understand a word he said. I also noticed he actually told one of the older female employees to carry a large bag of food out to a customers car while this young arrogant kid stood around doing nothing. I wanted to say something but didnt. Don’t these companies know how their managers treat people. I’ll just go there in a pinch!

I lived in the only pitbull friendly apartment complex in Tampa which is very close to this establishment. I brought dog food when I first moved to the area at this place and when I asked about the doggy day care they stated No Pitbulls or Pit Mix. I’m a responsible dog owner with two well behaved pit mix dogs that have been allowed in other doggy day cares with no issues. I rather buy my dog supplies at an all breed friendly shop.

Why 3 stars? Because some things we liked, and some we did not.

NOTE: I apologize for the length of this review, but I’d encourage anyone considering boarding at Royal Pets for the first time to read through the list of issues that we had below.

Even though we really enjoyed our experience at Lucky Dog, boarding our pet, they were all booked for Christmas, which led us to Royal Pets. Here are the pros and cons with our experience:
PROS
–There is a vet on-​site, which came in handy for our pup. He needed a couple of minor things done during his stay, and the vet took care of them for us after giving us a call to approve it.
–This is probably the cleanest doggie daycare in Tampa.
–They offer an option to pay $ 10 for «extra love» and pictures of your pup to be texted you. We did this on 3 of the days.
CONS
—I made the reservation to bring our dog in weeks in advance, by giving all of my information and forwarding shot records. We showed up the night-​of to drop him off, and there was absolutely no record of our reservation in the system. I didn’t have any kind of confirmation number because I was never sent one. Thank God they were not all booked up, because frankly, we would have been screwed. Our next stop was the airport to fly out of town for 6 days.
Eventually they started taking down my information to get him registered in the system. When they did that, my address and phone number came up under another person’s name, and another dog’s name… AND that owner/​dog had our same reservations. So obviously, somehow, they put wrong information in the system, but how they got my name, and my dog’s name completely wrong, I’ll never understand.
—So because this transaction is taking infinitely longer than planned, we are beginning to get anxious about missing our flight. But we have to go everything to make sure they have all of Moose’s correct information: what kind of kennel, if he gets play time, what kind of food and medicine he should have, etc. And during this explanation, they are trying to get all of the info in the computer, as well as figuring out where they are going to put him. It was what they call a hot mess.
—The other places we have boarded Moose at, we have noticed that they very quickly take the dog back into the boarding area as soon as you arrive, as to not create separation anxiety for him, to have to watch you walk away. And he in particular always freaks out about that. And while I understand that the confusion in the beginning may have thrown that routine off, even after we were done with everything and ready to leave, the employee just kept Moose right where he was, and made no attempt to take him to the back while we left the store. And naturally… he freaked out.
When we arrived to our gate with only a few minutes to spare, I called them back just to triple check that they had all of the info correct, and they did. So that put us at ease.
—We paid for 3 days of pictures and extra love, which was nice. But the main reason we did that is because they didn’t have webcams available at Royal Pets. That was a big negative for us. And while we did enjoy the pictures, one of the days, they literally hit *click* *click* *click* *click* on the camera phone, and sent us basically the same picture 4 times. We weren’t expecting Ansel Adams level photography, but it seemed to have been done in a hurry but someone who didn’t really care.
—I received a call about halfway through our trip from the vet who noted that they had never heard back from me on the voicemail that they left, asking if it was ok for them to treat Moose for Giardia. While I love the in-​house vet monitoring my dog’s health, I absolutely never received an initial call or voice mail. This was the first I was hearing about it. More disorganization.
—When we picked him up, we were given our bag of leftover food, treats, toys, etc that we dropped off, and told that the medicine was in the front pocket of the bag. We arrived home and noticed that there was only one bottle of medicine. We assumed that the maybe his other medicine was already administered to completion while we were out of town.
But over the coming days, we noticed that his diarrhea was not getting any better. We called the vet to ask, and they noted that we should have been given three different medicines and a report card. That did not happen, obviously, so we had to drive back to Royal Pets and pick that up, after Moose had been without his medication for days.
We definitely won’t be returning, despite some of the nice perks at Royal Pets.

This is the story. I currently live in South Florida. We tried taking Cody to the groomers once and had a pretty traumatic experience – ugly haircut, lots of nicks under the belly, and Cody pretty much told us he hated it. And since then we’ve been too scared to try another groomer in the area. Cody was getting pretty darn scruffy. Since we had a weekend getaway in Tampa planned, Unilocal led me to Royal Pets Market and Resort. I made my reservation way in advance, which was easy to do and they sent me an email reminder a few days before.
When we pulled up here, we saw the outdoor play yard with lots of dogs. I’m not going to lie, I felt like I was dropping off my child for his first day of pre-​school. The outdoor play area is separated into small and large dogs. The front part of the store is a regular pet supply store. They have cool treats and brands you wouldn’t find in a regular chain pet store. They even have doggy popcorn, haha. Overall, their prices were pretty reasonable, too. In the back they have a vet services counter and then the resort/​groomer services counter.
We checked in and our groomer came to greet us. She asked what we were looking for and did a pretty thorough consult before taking Cody back. She even had us text her pictures that we showed her. She asked if we preferred any specific shampoos/​conditioners. Their standard is cucumber facial scrub and an oatmeal for the body. The grooming also includes having nails trimmed, pads of paws shaved, ears cleaned, and we requested anal gland expression.
We got a call that Cody was ready about 2.5 hours after we dropped him off. They tell you to give them about 3 hours. When we came to pick up Cody he was a happy pup – clean and no longer scruffy. The cut was done well to what we had talked about.
The staff at the counter and in the store were very friendly and helpful. I also felt like the staff were dog lovers themselves, which is important in a place like this. They definitely set the tone that would make me want to come back (if only we didn’t live so far away!). They also have a $ 10 for $ 20 Unilocal deal and a separate check-​in deal, score :]

I took my dog Maya here because of the deal offered on Unilocal.They were super friendly and agreed to groom my little dachshund even though I was running late for my appointment. Since they offer boarding there were a lot of dogs out front in an enclosed run area and they bark a lot but that didn’t bother me.
After picking Maya up I snagged a few items from the store section and when I noticed they carried Nutrisca one of the clerks offered to run back and grab a bag for me! So sweet! I will definitely be back!

Obsessed. Absolutely obsessed. As soon as I walked in the door I felt like I was in doggy heaven. Not only is it a huuuge pet supermarket decorated with pictures of pets dressed up like royalty, which in and of itself is freaking adorable. But oh no, that’s not all. They also have a groomer, a «barkery», doggy darecare, and an overnight pet resort. The only facility I’ve used thus far is the pet resort. They have various different rooms– from bare bones kennels to suites with private balconies and flat screen TVs constantly playing Animal Planet. Obviously I went with the suite. While it always breaks my heart to have to leave my babies behind, this is definitely the place where I’ve felt the most comfortable with leaving them over night.
I can’t recommend RPM highly enough. It’s not cheap (for the suite) but it is so absolutely worth it.
