Roberts Meat

I don’t usually write reviews but I had to let the Unilocal world know how fantastic it was! The staff was friendly, incredibly helpful and super quick. I was offered samples of so many delicious house made items. But once I tasted the smoked beef tenderloin I was sold! I can honestly say it was the best sandwich I have ever had in Tampa! I can’t wait to go back to try the ribs!

This is a pretty simple review to write. Great food! Great Portions ! Great Price! Great Service!
What else do I need to say? I met my friend up there for lunch and I ordered the 8oz tenderloin steak sandwich. I’m pretty sure you could call this the one of the best if not THE best sandwich in town. It was HUGE two giant pieces of well seasoned and generous portions of perfectly cooked steak tenderloin sat on top of a soft fresh tasting roll. The roll was soft enough to not get in the way of what the real star was, the meat but firm enough to absorb the succulent juices that run of the steak without falling apart into a mushy mess. Sandwich came with provolone cheese and bacon which adds a nice smokiness and crunch to the sandwich as well as mayo, lettuce, and tomato.
This place has been a legend in South Tampa for a long time and one experience in the hail will tell you why. When you notice the menu it is small and a meat lovers dream place for a great sandwich. They focus on doing a few things well instead of a bunch of things mediocre .
I will always come back due to the friendly service and great food that Robert’s provides upon every visit.

I picked up a quart of Brunswick stew. It was a nice dinner for two and affordable. They are open until 6:30 p.m.

Huge portions; good luck finishing either the pork chop or steak sirloin sandwhiches.

Have to say this is some of the best and most hearty bbq I have had. The prices are affordable and the portion sizes are great, but the main reason for the 5 star review is the kindness and attentiveness of the staff and especially the hospitality of Ana Edwards. Will now be a staple when I visit Tampa again!

The filet sandwich is the stuff legends are made of. Out of this world good food. I don’t care if a restaurant is all fancy and has ambiance when I’m going to eat a slab of beef between a bun. I’m there for the food. They deliver EVERY single time. Love this place!

3 out of the 4 employees have no personality. The person who seemed to be in charged was very rude and uninviting. Food was over priced for what was order and was charged for two items that we didn’t order make sure to check receipt. front door isn’t sealed lots of flies tablecloth were sticky chairs were dirty food kept in the cases did not look fresh whatsoever coleslaw look very old will not be returning and definitely will not be recommending this restaurant to anyone

Really deserves ZERO stars.
My wife placed a pound and half order for pulled pork at 8:30 am yesterday Halloween morning with CJ. We were told that «it wouldn’t be a problem» she told him we would picking it up between 3 and 3:30. He told her it would be ready.
I arrived at 3:15 to pick up the order and informed them I was here to pick up the order. Off to the side was Michelle (who I come later to find out is the Manager) she was ranting how she had a 10 pound order she was trying to get ready for 4 o’clock and she didn’t think she would have enough pulled pork to fill my order. I stated that when we called at 8:30 we were not told this by CJ and that I was there now to pick up my order. If I had been told there would be a problem I could have placed my order elsewhere. She stated that they had placed their order yesterday and that she was sure that it was more important to fill a 10 pound order over a 1 and a half pound order because it was $ 120. Michelle who is a manager is arguing with a customer and not attempting to come up with an alternative solution. CJ stated he would try to get some of the pulled pork from her. After waiting 45 minutes he was only able to obtain half a pound of the 1 and half order. He did give us a pound of beef but was charged for it. I ended up having to wait until slightly after 4 pm making me late for my own party with a ¹⁄₃ of what we were promised. Not once did she apologize but rather argued with me the entire time.
Robert, Michelle has no business being in the food service/​customer business. She is disrespectful, argumentative, and condescending. Clearly she places more value on the dollar amount of a sale than trying to come up with a solution to ensure a customer leaves happy.
Your food isn’t that good to justify her treatment of a customer. I for one will never set foot in your filthy establishment (and I mean it literally, my arms stuck to the plastic table clothes as I waited) and will make sure South Tampa is aware of the type of business you are running.

I stopped in today for a sandwich. The lady behind the counter said the Shrimp Po-​Boy was a good favorite. … Let me tell you it wasn’t worth it! $ 14 for a Po-​Boy is way to over priced! I deffently will not be returning to this disappointment..

Live right down the road and saw the big «grouper sandwich» lettering on the window. I’m a sucker for a good fish sandwich! However, it’s served with cheese on it, which made it greasy. It was mediocre at best and later made me VERY sick. My boyfriend also had the filet mignon sandwich, which he said was very «meh.» We will definitely not be returning, even though it’s so close. Smoke Shack is waaaay better.

Great BBQ especially there BEANS a must. The only thing this place is timely customer service it sloooowww so be prepared

I am new to the area and i see this place everytime i am on my way home. I decides to try it out today so i ordered a burger and fries. Mind there was only like 4 other people ordering food behind me. Everyone got served there food except me. Thirty minutes of waiting there a guy from the back come to wherw u was sitting and tells me that everyone in the kitchen was wondering if i was going to order any food. I told them to forget the order. I dont think i will be going to that place again. If it confuses them that much that they couldn’t write down a simple order. Im cool.

So I have passed this place for years and finally went in to give it a shot. The smell of the cooker was very nice but the inside of the «restaurant» was nothing to rave about. There are a few plastic tables and chairs… all were dirty and the floors and place in general seemed like it needed a good cleaning and some (a lot) of updating.
I am big when it comes to cleanliness so I am really hoping they read reviews and work on cleaning up the place both inside and outside. I tried the BBQ pork sandwich and that was good… nice flavor from the smoker and the bun had good flavor.
The glass case that stores some of the meats and sides was not that appealing as things looked dried out and old… turned me off from ordering more food. My friend I was with did say she enjoyed her meal as well so that is always good.

Was a big let down. Looked appealing from the outside with the smoker but the quality wasn’t worth the wait. Got food to go but stuff was missing. Was to hungry to throw it away and get something else. Won’t be coming back.

If you are looking for a diamond in the rough, Robert’s might just be it. This place isn’t going to win any awards for style, but it will make up for it with freshness.
I knew this was my kind of place when I waited for my lunch and my elbows were sticking to the table… This is one of the best burger places in Tampa Bay that you have never heard of.

Some of the best bacon I’ve ever eaten! This butcher shop that also provides cooked food! They also have great deals on amazingly yummy steak sandwiches with provolone cheese and bacon. The seafood lunches are well known and seasonal, but I highly recommend the filet sandwich!
Close to McDill, you will see a lot of military here. The store is family owned and operated, so you feel like you patronage is helping the community. It looks a bit like a dive, but the food is so awesome, you won’t notice!

OK, so just to give you a little background about me and my review… I am a fitness competitor and on a high protein diet with a lot of chicken breast. I woke up this past Saturday morning and said to myself «if I eat one more piece of baked chicken, I will go crazy and probably even stop my training.» So I then said to myself, I love bbq… I wonder if there is a place that will smoke chicken breasts for me so that I will actually stick to my diet.
I called Roberts Meats and the girl that answered the phone was really nice. She explained that smoked meats were healthy and talked up that smoked chicken and salmon so good that she probably could’ve sold me a smoked dirt sandwich too lol. She quoted me a price of $ 42 for 7lbs of smoked chicken breast. I said «say what!?» I will placing an order here every week! I was so excited I even shared a facebook status about my smoked meat finding.
Well this is when the review goes downhill, just a little. When I came to pick up my chicken and salmon, she said that’ll be $ 72. WTH?! Her and the manager told me $ 42 total with a pickup for 3:30pm. I was trying to get an explanation of the price and how it went from $ 5.99 a lb for smoked meat to almost $ 10 a lb. They weren’t being very helpful and clearly didn’t want to explain anything. I wanted to say a few things, walk out and leave that pan of chicken sitting there, but I didn’t want to play into any stereotypes, so I smiled and paid for my meat lol.
They are so lucky that when I took a bite into that chicken… it was so darn good. I said to myself while smacking on the chicken «I think Roberts and I are going to have a love hate relationship from here on out», but I am hoping I can work something out with the manager so I can refer my clients here too.
Customer service needs improvement, but meat was good. 5 stars if they communicated better and ran a better business. First impressions are everything.

I have visited only once for a BBQ sandwich and it was an oversized bun overstuffed with meat. Very tasty meat.
I should have another go and get something else and give a more well rounded review than just the sandwich I had.
But based on the one sandwich, the size, the quality and price were right on!

While Roberts generally has great food, our recent experience should caution everyone thinking about placing advance orders, particularly for the holidays. More disturbing is the lack of response by ownership and management to even acknowledge their error.
We called Roberts’ the week before Thanksgiving to inquire as to whether they would have ribs available for the holiday. I was advised that because of the high demand we needed to place an order, which we did. We were told we didn’t need to pre-​pay at which time I specifically stated we would be picking them up the day before Thanksgiving on our way out-​of-​town, asking they be appropriately packaged for the trip and reheating instructions for Thursday.
When my wife arrived for pick-​up, the woman working at Roberts’ advised «our order was overlooked» and that there were none available. Inexplicably, she suggested instead of getting the ribs we ordered, we could purchase a turkey. Wow. Moreover, she offered no apology and no explanation how she could have filled every single order but ours as it appeared all the order forms were attached to the respective orders.
Given that we were in the process of leaving town, we were left no alternative to go elsewhere. To add insult to injury, we asked the incompetent employee to have a manager call to hopefully offer some explanation. To date, I have never received a response now two weeks later.
