Roaming Gourmand’s menu is very limited… banh mi, rice bowl with pork or chicken, chicken gyro and veggie burger. That’s about it but fortunately, what they offer is very good. I got the rice bowl with pork. It was really tasty. The pork had great flavor. The veggies(greens, carrot, daikon, cucumber) were fresh. The rice was not your typical boring white rice. They use brown rice which was welcomed and the vinaigrette added extra flavor. Very large portion and for just $ 8 it was a great value. The banh mi on the other hand was overpriced at $ 8 but I peeked at the one my coworker ordered and it looked good and seemed quite hearty. Service was fast which is an important factor for any food truck. Solid 4 star truck. Hopefully, they’ll expand the menu as they grow in popularity.

I had the Luau pork sandwich and really enjoyed it. Very flavorful and tasty. It was a good size, not too much, not too little. I would definitely order it again.

Spotted the Roaming Gourmand food truck outside Cigar City Brewing last Friday and decided to give them a try. The menu consisted of pork and chicken sandwiches, pork tenderloin kabobs, a pimento cheese burger and hand cut potato chips with caramelized onion dip. I was going to order the Mayan Pork Sandwich, but I didn’t want to order the same item as my husband so I ordered the Chicken Pesto sandwich instead. We also ordered a side of the homemade potato chips to split, but my husband totally bogarted the chips. While the Pesto Chicken sandwich was awesome the Mayan Pork Sandwich was out of this world!!! The marinated pork and pickled onions paired so well on the soft, warm gyro bread. I really wish I didn’t have to split the sandwich with my husband. The hand cut chips were also great and had a hint of sweetness that paired so well with the onion dip. While there were plenty of chips to share between two people I had to arm wrestle my husband to get a taste. Roaming Gourmand are pork magicians!!! I will 100% be back to try their pork tenderloin kabobs! They make a Jamaican style pork tenderloin kabob that is marinated in Cigar City Florida Cracker Ale and Jamaican spices as well as an Asian style pork kabob. Both sets of kabobs are served on warm gyro bread. Follow Roaming Gourmand on Facebook:

I have tried Roaming Gourmand’s food a few times — and have enjoyed it very much. The service is friendly and FAST and the food is excellent. I spoke with the owner(he’s the chef!) and he told me EVERYTHING on the menu is home-made, down to the giardinara relish on the Soprano sandwich(which is my favorite, btw). He roasts his own meat, makes his own sauces(try the Roumelade — OMG!!!), and they get their bread from a local bakery. Their hand cut chips(called Chip’s Chips… clever, Chip is the owner) are perfect — thin, crispy, fresh, with the right amount of salt and they come with a dipping sauce(again, home-made). I’ve also had the Life is Good burger and wow… simple is GOOD. All it is is caramelized onions and meat with a little bit of salt and pepper… but they must put some love into it or something because I CRAVE this burger. SO flavorful and juicy. You can also get it with different types of sauces(Jalapeño or Chipotle, I believe) If you see this truck out and about, I highly recommend it. i’m sad I’m back in MA so I won’t be able to enjoy it for a while. They are on facebook and post frequent updates on their schedule and menu.

In my food stalking mode with extra emphasis on using my peripheral vision on my lunch break, I scoped out this food truck from the road. U-turned with curiosity. Seems to be a newcomer on the food truck scene. The menu was simple and straightforward 5 sandwiches served on local bakery bread, thinly sliced fresh cut potato chips, a dessert item and drinks. The sandwiches they created are diverse enough to say there is a sandwich available to desire for indulging, health conscious and a vegetarian option. The sandwich I chose was noted as «The Rachel» which consists of thinly sliced turkey, mozzarella, jicama slaw and homemade thousand island dressing on a toasted hoagie roll. I was sold when I saw it had a jicama slaw. Now for those who are unfamiliar with jicama it one of those ingredients that I call blank canvas ingredients, meaning it takes on the flavor you choose it should taste like, but more importantly when it is incorporated in a slaw it brings a crisp crunch factor. When I think of slaw I also think bright colors of freshness as well, like carrots, cilantro, purple cabbage would be some elements for example as a jicama slaw blend. In this sandwich, the jicama stood alone as the slaw and seemed too finely cut. In turn, the jicama slaw gets lost in the build by the dressing and as a result you cant appreciate the jicama in this sandwich. I also ordered a side of fresh cut chips. Now I have to say fresh cut anything makes a huge difference. These chips were spot on technique, light, crispy and lightly salted. They came with a caramelized onion dip which made a sweet/tart contrast to dip the chips into. Overall, service was pleasant and food was prepared in a fair amount of time. I did come out on the pricier side compared to other food truck competitors at a total of $ 11 for chips and a sandwich. They propose a menu that meets a certain craving on any given day. I do plan to try more of their sandwiches to further note the«gourmand» aspect of their menu. Follow on FB to note their whereabouts.
