Okay, I guess. Almost everything on the menu came with hand cut chips(french fries) and a lot of items on the menu are fried. The staff was welcoming and attentive. That made up for the air conditioning being on the fritz — for apparently 4 months, I was told. Are there any Irish pubs out there without a slew of fried foods?

I hate the food. I only go there for the drinks and ambiance. I get a five star experience when my favorite bartender is there, female, Irish. She always knows just what to get me!

What has happened to my favored PJ Dolans? For 2 years I lived down the street and visited often. I have since moved but I have eaten a lot of the food and drank a lot of the drinks. Word amongst friends is that Dolans has started to go downhill. Fast forward to today. May 21st, 2016. We are here to support a friends band playing outside. The first person to take our order had to go get someone else because there was confusion with our drink. Sadly more confusion followed and it continually declined. My mother ordered a Bahama mama. My sister a ginger and Jim beam, my dad a Black and Tan, and myself settled on a jack and coke. What we received was far different. My mom received a Bahama mama, sans pineapple juice, but lots of Jim. My sister received a ginger with pineapple juice. No alcohol. My dads Black and Tan was… Meh and my jack and coke was definitely anything but. Being hungry my sister ordered a vinaigrette salad and a chicken melt sandwich. She relieved a salad with ranch on the side and a chicken cheese sandwich instead. The rest of us have refused to order food. Of the hundreds of dollars I’ve spent here and the countless late nights meeting people, I don’t think I’ll come back. This experience has fully turned me off of PJ Dolans. Which is sad, because I truly loved this place. I hope they improve. I hope they fix it. But the mumble around is that things have been this way for a while.

I love the atmosphere, like three different restaurants in one. Casual dining our choice, son likes the sports and beers on tap, there is even an outside patio. Bangers and mash rocks

This restaurant is a frequent visit after my husbands softball games on Monday nights. They are always able to accommodate the large party so anyone from the team that would like to go can. They offer a burger special on Mondays for 5.00! I usually order one of those and you can upgrade to another type of burger and they will still apply a discount for the special. The Guinness Gravy fries are very good as well. They offer a variety of beer and the prices are are decent the two of us can usually eat and have a few beers for around 30.00. Four stars are given since the restaurant is always welcoming and can accomidate our large party. They also have an outdoor area so if I have a pup with me we can sit outside. I do enjoy the burger special on Monday nights and think they cook them to my order(Medium Rare). Why didn’t they earn the 5th star? The place is dark and really needs a little updating as the seats are not the most comfortable either.

One of the best bars in the city! If you enjoy Live bands… Great food… and a very Friendly staff… this place is for you! The owner is a beer guru, always has hundreds of draft and specialty beers, and they serve liquor and wine. In short, Authentic Irish feel, Live Music, and Great food… what more can you ask for!

I REALLY wanted to like this place. After waiting 15 minutes(possibly longer) for our waiter though we were told that they were out of fish and chips. An Irish pub… That was out of fish and chips. Strike one! Then we finally got our Wild Pineapple ciders(after another 15 or so minutes) and they were definitely just plain apple cider. Strike two! The bar tender assured us that this was, in fact, pineapple though and if we wanted to swap for something else we could. Not wanting to order Guinesss and get Bud light, I simply ordered a Baileys shake. The shake was mediocre at best(but it’s a pub, I guess I shouldn’t be too picky). After 30MORE minutes we got our scotch egg, it turned out to be just one individual egg atop a bed of well overdone fries. Strike three! I’m out. Maybe I could come on another day and things would be better, but whether I’m willing to take that risk or not is the big question.

This was a favorite local bar of mine, and my family has enjoyed dinner there several times. We like the food, and even though it’s often a little slow, it’s always been worth the wait. Tonight, however, we had really bad service from a surly waiter(Darren), and the AC was apparently not working. I don’t know if we will be back. I usually over tip and rarely go below 20%, and tonight was so bad that I only tipped 10%.

As far as Irish pubs go this is topping my list for the New Tampa area. You cant beat the Wed 2−4−1 fish and chips. You get an eneromous piece of fish and a hearty helping of fries for what comes out to around 7 bucks apeice. With a plethera of irsh spirits as well as what I would guess to be around 20 taps… youll have a good time here. Plus with arcade games, free darts, pool, JUMBOJENGA, and board games… this is a great place to kick back and have a good time.

Ive been here a handful of times and I can’t really complain about this place. The foods good, the atmosphere makes you feel like youre in a dark pub in Ireland. They have authentic irish cuisine. I always go for the Jameson burger(with extra jameson sauce) the meat is a super big portion and the fries you can tell are cut and fried on the spot. My only recommendation is they NEED to have a designated college night, even if once a week they charged a cover at the door and opened up their patio area a little more and had a deal on drinks the college community would come swarming in. Well at least I know I would be there every week. Other than that, its a very solid establishment.

I wish I could comment on the food, but we didn’t even get to order. We sat ourselves, finally had a someone drop off 2 menus, but no one ever came back to take our order. And it was DEAD! One table that was leaving, that’s it. I didn’t see s bartender, but it was so dark and dirty it was hard to tell. Took a look at the menu, and $ 13.00 for fish and chips!!! Holy cow! No thank you, not from a restaurant that had no service and no customers.

We came to see the band that was scheduled and we’re met by a surly door guy saying it was 3 dollars a piece for cover. Then 40 minutes later the bartender came by and took our drink order. We wanted to have food too but had to get our own menu and 1 hour later we still have no food. This was a management miscalculation as they should have had a waiter or two and had the door guy in the dish room where he belongs.

Absolutely love this place. Wide selection of draft beers and the bartenders are very knowledgable on all the drinks available. The food is great and they always have themed nights like trivia and discounted drinks. Despite it being $ 5−6/drink in a college area, it’s totally worth it for the great Irish experience! :)

Why 1 Star? Please read the other one star reviews! In addition to the slow service & disgusting food, most of the restaurant is dark(nonworking table and ceiling lamps) the only thing illuminating the restaurant are neon bar signs and the place is dusty & dirty. Visited the location about a month ago, the shepherds pie I ordered was 85/15% potato/beef. It clearly wasn’t made to order, and was bland! Like the others, 1st timer here and stumbled upon it by mistake. «Mistake» is right … Definitely don’t make the mistake of walking though the doors. Sorry to those that wrote a review after my visit, I could have saved you from PJ’s… Too bad Kitchen Nightmare is no longer around, because this place could use it.

The boyfriend and I ended up here by accident while searching for a different restaurant. We were so excited to find an Irish Pub style restaurant, we decided to try it out. We were seated and served water while we were looking at what we wanted to drink and eat. Waited 20 min after that and never saw our waitress. Barely any patrons but plenty of staff. Such a disappointment. The ambience was nice and I wish I could have had the opportunity to experience their food. We left and ended up walking to the restaurant that we were originally in search of. That review is on here too.

Still feels like Remington’s Steakhouse in here to me. First off, I’m not a huge fan of «Irish» pubs, but this place was packed and we were out that way, so decided to stop in. Not very Irish feeling in here, so if authenticity isn’t a problem, you’ll love the place I’m sure. Service is fast and courteous. Beer selection is adequate. As for food, I ordered a Scotch egg, and it was just«okay.» I didn’t take a pic because the egg was over boiled and the yolk was green. They cut it open before serving, and I’m a little shocked the chef let it leave the kitchen. We all know it’s going to taste fine, but no one really wants to eat a green egg. Crowley’s over in DTSP still has the best version of this dish from across the pond, IMHO, so I’d suggest going there if the Scotch egg is what you’re craving. There is a huge outdoor bar area with live music on the weekends, which is a nice touch. Not sure if I’d return. Only time will tell.

I’ve been here several times for trivia night. They have some great beer and food specials as well as lots of cider options for those of that persuasion. Their prices are overall very reasonable. Food-wise, I’ve had the chicken curry and sausage rolls. The chicken curry was flavorful and seemed authentically Irish with more of a brown, curried gravy with raisins motif than what you’d expect for Indian or Thai curry for those unaware of the style. The sausage rolls weren’t that great. The puff pastry outer coating was okay, but the sausage was pretty flavorless. The accompanying«chips» were oddly powdery. The service was decent though.

I have a client in the USF area, and I’m always on the lookout for a different place to eat while in the ‘hood. PJ Dolan’s is an Irish Pub & Grille located along Bearss Avenue, just to the west of Bruce B. Downs. The restaurant sits back from the road in a mixed-use shopping center filled with a variety of other restaurants and shops. PJ’s used to be a location for Remington’s Steakhouse, and prior to that it was a Mexican restaurant, and who knows what else along the way. PJ’s has been there for a little over 3 years, so let’s hope that it’s there to stay. The basic layout of the place hasn’t changed despite the various owners. There’s an outdoor covered patio, along with an indoor bar area that has darts, pool and other sports, indoor and outdoor seating for the restaurant, and an outdoor stage area for the live entertainment /bands. PJ’s has Open Mic nights for singers and musicians, Karaōke, and Trivia nights during the week. The menu is a nice mix of classic bar appetizers with a few Irish specials like Scotch Eggs, Irish Bells, and Irish Egg Rolls filled with Corned Beef Hash. There’s a nice mix of soups, salads, sandwiches, and burgers for lunch; and some heartier entrees for dinner including Corned Beef n’ Cabbage, Shepherd’s Pie, Bangers & Mash, and so on. Back in the bar you’ll find plenty on tap including Guinness, Harp’s, Smithwick’s, Kilkenny, a couple of ciders, and more. You’ll find plenty of traditional drannnnnnks like the Black & Tan, Snake Bite, and a Black Haze, along with craft beers, imports, and plenty to get you in trouble. For lunch I had the Corned Beef Melt with a cup of Irish Potato & Leek soup. It was good food for a fair price. Gotta go back some time to sample to draft beers!
