You can see from my outdated review below that there was a time when I loved this place. I update my review to explain that Pizza Squared has gone downhill. My last two experiences have been rather disappointing. 1. A couple weeks ago, I ordered a hand tossed pizza and a square pizza. The hand tossed pizza was awful.(I’ll post a picture.) It tasted like the pizza you’d get at a roller skating rink. The square pizza would have been good, but it was missing sauce. I guess they forgot to put it on there, and I didn’t realize the mistake until I got home. 2. Despite the failure, I tried PS again. My plan was to order only square pizzas and to ensure that they had sauce. No dice. Although it was a Thursday at 5:45, no one would answer the phone. I called a couple times and so did my friends. No answer. I hope PS gets itself back together. At one point, they served the best pizza in Tampa Bay.

Came here a couple weeks ago with a Groupon. I called in a to-go order and they said it would be 30 – 45 minutes which was no problem. When I arrived 45 minutes later, the pizza wasn’t ready and only one person was working so I waited patiently since the guy seemed to be doing the best he could. He told me it was his first night so I was understanding when he overcharged me and had no clue what to do with my Groupon. Eventually he called his boss and it was all sorted out without any issues. I ordered the 6 square cheese and a stromboli with ham and bacon. The food does taste great, but it’s overpriced. I wouldn’t come back unless I had another coupon or discount.

I used to love love love this place. The last 3 deliveries have been awful. Burnt pizza on one, one so greasy I couldn’t pick up a piece and finally, one never showed up. In fact after 2.5 hours, I was advised by their delivery service, they’re not even open. On a friday night no less! Yup, avoid the S. Tampa location. It’s a hot mess.

Don’t know how they got their 4 star rating. Service is some of the worst I’ve experienced and there’s nothing special about the food.

Ok so at first I wasn’t sure about this place because we ordered over the phone 20 min before and got there and our order wasn’t even made. We had the groupon 12 for $ 20 of take out. They seemed annoyed over the phone when we told them over the phone. The inside was clean and no one was in the front at first. It was a little annoying waiting after we ordered but they got our order in a timely manner considering. I gave it 4 stars because the pizza was good. Sweet sauce and buttery crust. It was nice and crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. We got two 6 squares one topping for 21.39. I will come back again and I hope they have the order ready when I call this time :-) It seems like a pattern from other reviewers lol

NEVERGOHERE !! I’d like to start by saying that this place was our go-to pizza. We are from Chicago and have not found any place we really like except for Pizza Squared, ordering it multiple times since we moved to Tampa in August, spending a good amount of money. And then we were ever so politely told, «please don’t ever call here again». One night we placed an order, we had relatives from out of town and we were super excited to let them taste this pizza. We called around 845pm and they said it would be about 45 minutes to pick up. I get there about 40 minutes later, and one person was working. That one person had NOIDEA what was going on. They did not have a order for our food, no name for our order, he has no idea what I was talking about. Finally, he found the order and proceeded to say that ‘he just started the shift and the order was misplaced’ so none of the food had even been started. Okay, it was a mistake no problem. More than an hour had passed and the person offered to make it and deliver it. Holding my credit card out from in my hand I asked, what about the charge? I felt we should get at least some type of compensation for the mistake. He tells me ’ don’t worry about the charge’ . Great! I was surprised that a restaurant was so proactive and willing to go above and beyond the for the customers. I leave and about 40 more minutes later the pizza is delivered by the same person who had no idea about our order and subsequently made it. He was very polite, apologized again and that was that. About 30 minutes later I realize I had a missed call from two minutes ago and I recognized the number as PSquared. I call back and a woman is on the phone saying she did not receive payment for the order — well obviously, I was told it was free. She then says ’ I am standing with the man who delivered your pizza and he never said he told you it was free’ WHAT?! I worked in the food service industry all throughout college so I never would internationally try to rip off a place of business. I explained to her what happened, she became VERYVERY rude and disrespectful, saying she was sorry for the misunderstanding but it was never meant for the whole meal to be free, only the 3 $ or however much it is delivery charge. Taken by surprise by her tone and rudeness I replied I was sorry there was a misunderstanding that our whole order was not even made and then took almost 3 hours to get fixed! Icing on the cake? She told me unbelievably rudely, ’ I understand, please don’t EVER call here again’ and then she hung up. In my ENTIRE life, I have never, ever, felt so disrespected and hurt by a restaurant. Especially one that I actually enjoyed. I never made a big deal about the colossal mistake they made, they preemptively told me not to worry about the charge. Had the woman been much nicer, less accusatory, and reasonable I would have had no problem paying. As I said, I had my credit card out and ready to pay before I left the store. Bottom line– if that’s the way the employees are trained to handle customer issues, this place does not deserve any business at all, and I will make sure to never recommend this place. Pizza Squared lost two loyal customers and a new, large potential customer base. What a shame.

Pizza Squared lived up to the expectations that I anticipated from the Unilocal reviews. We ordered an «8 square» veggie pizza. The crust was crunchy and the exterior had really texture from the cheese all crisped up on the sides.(salivating thinking about it) The sauce had great robust flavor and I appreciated that they did not skimp on the cheese(huge pet peeve). Why the four stars then? I think that $ 21 is pretty steep for an 8 slice deep dish pie. While Pizza Squared did not skimp on the cheese, the amount of veggies was underwhelming. They loaded the pizza up with olives, but the rest of the toppings were pretty meek. I think a more appropriate price would be $ 16 – 18 for the veggie pizza. Will I return? Yes. I will just order the cheese or one or two toppings next time. When you are in search of a good pie that isn’t the cookie cutter chain pizza, Pizza Squared is up there. My #1 is still Cappy’s and the price is more on point there as well(and it’s larger). But Pizza Squared is a worthy contender!

So I randomly found this place while searching for wings the other night and fell in love with the pictures of the pizza. I had never heard of Detroit style pizza before, so I decided to see what it was all about. Turns out I pass by this place everyday but somehow never noticed it. It is a small pace with several tables. Very neat and well kept, and tons of Michigan/Detroit sporting memorabilia on the walls. I had called in my order and it was ready shortly after I got there(I was earlier than the estimate that they gave me). I got a meat lovers, honey bbq wings, and hot honey garlic wings to go. I loved the pizza. For those who’ve never had or heard of it, its kinda close to the Chicago deep dish, but still different. The crust was soft and tasty and there was plenty of cheese and toppings. I enjoyed the leftover slices the next day even more. I wouldn’t say the pizza was very saucy, but there was enough for me. The wings were ok. They had a variety of flavors, but I’ll definitely return for the pizza. I saw the photo book from the last Unilocal event held there displayed on the counter. There was one guy working the counter, and he was courteous and helpful with suggestions over the phone. All in all I have no complaints about this place, and will very likely return for another pizza.

I was very excited to try a new pizza place and ordered delivery/was advised it would be 30 – 45 min. I called at the hour mark and was told it was on its way but it took 1 hr 40 min to get there … And it was COLD. The pizza was disappointing and not worth the wait or the $ 15 for 6 squares of pizza. This place is a total pass!

This place has great pizza! Pizza is not your typical NY style you find in Tampa. This is called Detroit style … Pizza comes in squares with sauce on the top. I’m a deep dish pizza lover coming from Chicago — this pizza really hits the spot for me!

I prefer a thin & crispy crust, so I am not the best person for an impartial review. I love, love pizza and believe it is its own food group. Service was great, establishment was clean and taste of pizza was okay. Like I said not quite my cup of tea or slice of pie. I prefer less sauce and more cheese. Keep in mind this could be the best Detroit style pizza in 7 counties and I would not be the one to take your cues from on how authentic and tasty it may be. It’s like if you are a wine drinker and the restaurant only serves beer. This just is not the type of pizza that gets me excited and dig in while it is too hot and burn the top of my mouth. I was born in Michigan & have many relatives up there, but have never had a pizza quite like this. For the lovers, go, eat & be happy. For the rest of us, keep your pizza quest going, we will prevail. What’s a girl to do? I guess I am just a wine loving, thin crust girl.

This place has me thinking that Detroit style pizza ahould be the only way it’s even made anymore. So glad we have this new location here. P to tha 2 is luckily great Detroit style pizza too! Just one request: remove round pies from the menu forever! They really aren’t worth the dough.

My fellow Unilocalers really let me down on this one. I could not have been more disappointed in my first(and last) visit here. From the minute I walked in, I knew this was a very bad idea. There was no employee visible for the first five minutes after entering the front door. When he finally emerged from a side room with someone else’s take-out, it was obvious he was the only person working there and you could tell he was simply trying to get things done. While I feel bad for the guy, I had virtually no interaction with him whatsoever despite standing in there for over 20 minutes. The only other people inside(after the aforementioned man left with his order), was a group of three sitting in a horribly small booth having pizza and wings and a guy by himself sitting in another booth with no food staring at his laptop. It was uncomfortably creepy waiting for my pre-ordered pizza and had I not already paid online, I would have been out of there based solely on first impression. Standing outside and waiting did not seem like a viable option either, because of how dark and deserted it was outside in the evening. Neither the three people eating, the guy on his laptop, the one employee or anything else was making a sound. Seriously, think total awkward silence other than hearing a person chew. There was a TV behind the front counter airing ESPN with no sound while a second TV up front was not on at all. Not only was the place completely silent, but it was also very dimly lit. Oh, it gets worse, because it also lacked air conditioning and I sweated more waiting for my order than I did earlier in the day working out at LA Fitness. After 20 bizarre minutes of my life I will never get back, the one employee handed me a box, may have said four words and I ran out of this closed space that looked and felt less like a restaurant than anything I have ever seen. So, after all this, was the actual pizza itself worth it? Nope. It was undercooked and the two toppings ordered were in very small quantity and could barely be tasted at all. Other people on Unilocal clearly have a different opinion about this place, but please note that none of what I wrote was«opinion.» It was simply a list of «facts.» Both the owner of the business when I visited and the new owner of the business contacted me based on this experience. The first owner actually said to me, «I wish Unilocal wouldn’t allow people to write about their first experience.» To which I replied, «Why would anyone come back if the first experience was so awful?» The second owner initially invited me to the re-opening of this location and offered me a free pizza. However, when I finally got a coupon it was only for 10% off my next order. There will be no next order, no matter who owns this place. What a trainwreck.

The Pizza is great, crispy, crunch and unlike any other typical new york or chicago style pizza. They have some great combinations that work great atop the soft aerated crust. Not too heavy and a great change of pace from other types of Pizza, Pizza Squared is a great place with a great«Detroit» vibe and people, a must visit in the Tampa Bay area.

I thought they were pretty good, but the leftovers weren’t very good. There’s just too much dough for the toaster oven to handle. Their website wasn’t working when I ordered. I called them instead, and the person on the line was very nice and even gave me a discount for ordering from them for the first time. The delivery showed up 5 minutes earlier than expected. I agree that the square pizza was better than the hand tossed pizza, although I suspect the hand tossed pizza would make for better leftovers. But while fresh, the crust on the Detroit style is really buttery and addictive. The toppings were fine. I would have liked a little more sauce. And I think the cheese was a little salty.

Awful. Really awful. Ordered after reading Unilocal reviews. We are in a hotel. Guy on the phone was nice. We ordered a large half cheese half meat AND A SIDEOFRANCHDRESSING. 45’mins later I send my daughter down with $ 40.00. Total is $ 24.00 I tell my daughter to get a $ 10 back. So driver would have $ 7.00 tip. Location is 2.7 miles from my hotel. Daughter comes up with $ 7.00. The driver told her that’s how it was going to be and that he couldn’t give her a $ 10.00. I am so fricken mad right now. So mad. Honestly I don’t even want to eat this 8 cut $ 32.00 pizza. You ever get so upset you feel sick. JUSTBEHONEST!!! Learned my lesson the hard way.

Ever since I drove by and saw Detroit style pizza. I’ve been wanting to try this place out. Glad I did! Walked in today to be greeted by friendly staff who was ready to take my order. To get started i ordered wings but wasn’t sure what sauce to eat them with. Without even hesitation Charles said he will bring out a few for me to try!(this brings a huge smile to my face since I’m a sauce lover). The wings were large and SUPER crispy and meaty. I enjoyed them plain while dipping them in each of my different sauce choices. Heavenly! I love having a different experience with every bite! Now to the main course… The pizza! I ordered a 6 square Detroit style, cheese and pepperoni. It came out piping hot and super cheesy. The crust was buttery, crispy and had a bit of chewiness. Overall was a great pan pizza. The red sauce they put on top is excellent and next time I will order a bit extra to dip my pizza in. This place is a great value and I hope it sticks around. Loved the friendly service and I enjoyed my meal!

I’ve been itching to get in here, especially since this location is super close to me. Making the trek to USF area is no longer in my way! Cute, inauspicious location on S. Dale, this little locale has lots to offer: plenty of parking, nice inside eating area with a flat screen and detroit décor(think: Bob Seger!), a super nice employee that I am going to affectionately call«The Gentle Giant” —(yes ma’am, no ma’am)… I had the lunch special for 5 bones(2 slices/1can). 2 giant hunks of yummmmmmmmy detroit style pizza was devoured out of a take out box(I was on the go!) and boy, was I sad when I was done. So good. THEYHAVEONLINEORDERING. I’m so doing that! I’ll be back!

Drove by and saw this place and the Unilocal rating. When it comes to pizza, I’m always in. But seeing«Detroit pizza», which I have never had before, I definitely had to try it. I called and ordered a 6 square supreme and came an hour later after hitting some traffic. When I get there, the guy there tells me they don’t have my pizza. He sees the ticket for my order but guess the previous shift left before making my pizza. The guy said he can make me the 8 square for the price of the 6 square in 10 mins which I found weird because I first placed the order I was told it would take 20 mins. I figured I am here anyways so might as well try it right? It did come out in about 10 mins. It looked like Little Caesars pan pizza except this one had sauce on top and was a little less greasy. It was nice and crispy but a little runny from the sauce on top. It was really good.

I hate Detroit, but apparently love their pizza. I feel bad that they declared bankruptcy and overall it must suck to live there, but being from Cleveland, it feels good to at least not be the worst city in the states. More so, being a Buckeye, we all know the whole state is the worst. But I have digressed. Any and every form of pizza I love, if I had kids I imagine that’s what it feels like– they are all so special in their own way. I never had Detroit style until pizza squared, and an scared to try it anywhere else as I don’t think it can hold up. The crust is thick with an amazing butteriness from the cheese permeating the fluffy deliciousness. The cheese is the money shot of the pie. It’s Wisconsin cheddar from what I’ve told(I knew it couldn’t be all Michigan and this good). Normally I like a provolone mozzarella blend(Grandma owned a pizza shop growing up), but I’m game for about anything that works, but I never thought I would say cheddar on a pizza was good, but it is. The sauce on top has a bit of a tang, and as there isn’t a lot of it, it works out. If you’re a sauce lover, get an extra side as though it is good, as mentioned there isn’t a lot. The topping don’t blow my skirt up, but definitely don’t disappoint either. The thin crust I could take or leave. For those of you that haven’t had it Detroit style, here’s the basics. It is made as follows: crust, cheese, toppings, sauce. For those of you who like super crispy pepperoni, you may need make an exception, but it’s something you need to try. I can sum everything up as such: I could do without anything from Detroit, except this pizza.
