The Tampa Bypass Canal was constructed during the 1960s and 1970s to redirect flood waters from large amounts of rainfall from the Hillsborough River to Tampa Bay, preventing out of control floodwaters. Despite its original purpose it is now used as a drinking water source for the City of Tampa. Habitats include river swamps with cypress trees and hardwoods, cabbage palms and oak hammocks, and some areas of pine lands and palmetto prairies. Although currently undeveloped, the Tampa Bypass Canal has great potential to be a desirable landmark. I could see a river walk being constructed in the future, but no time soon.

The Tampa Bypass Canal, also known as the Palm River, is a 14-mile manmade waterway connecting the Hillsborough River to McKay Bay in Ybor City(Tampa). I believe the Thai Wat(Temple) is along the river(known for its Sunday food market).
