Convenient location next to Target and Chic-Fil-A. This is great if you are a Pescatarian. :) The place has a pleasant hustle in the afternoons. The staff are friendly but not overly. Edamame is tough and feels, tastes old. Limited but variable wine selection. :) The sashimi pieces are hearty and thick as opposed to some restaurants that serve thin pieces to cut costs. The chefs are not Jaanese. Additionally, they typically can only make what is on the menu, they don’t know how to create dishes on the spot, or chef specials uniquely designed for you. If you encourage them a little, they will take he leap of effort and try to create something. This restaurant is more for those who order by selecting from a number system and photos. Whilst it is easier, especially if you don’t want to read or think.

This place is legit! Great sushi, good prices, excellent menu and selection. I highly recommend the Tampa roll and the crazy horse roll! The place has great décor, a helpful wait staff and is clean. We came here because I had to pick a canvas up that I had framed next door, so we decided to pop in for lunch. The framing store owner recommended it, so we took a chance. The place is spacious with lots of tables and about a dozen seats at the bar. The menu is great because they have photos of all of their rolls, after all, we eat with our eyes too! Since I like trying several different rolls, they have a few different huge sushi roll platters with about six variations of rolls 32 pieces for $ 40! Now that ain’t bad. There is a wide selection of Japanese beers, but I didn’t partake. There are other items on the menu besides sushi, but I didn’t care to see what they were. Parking can be little tricky since this place is located in a shopping center with very limited spaces. I hear this joint gets crowded on Friday and Saturday night. We went on a Saturday afternoon and it was virtually empty. All in all, this is my new«go to» sushi place. I’ll definitely be back, and highly recommend to anyone look for good rolls and a good time!

Not the worst sushi, but it was pretty bad. To make things worse, they did not have any folks. Service was pretty bad as well. Never coming back here.

Our most favorite sushi joint in the Tampa Bay area. We have been going to Origami for many years and the quality has remained top notch. We are partial to traditional sushi(raw fish) and less to the cooked and more Americanized sushi. For this, we love Origami for high quality sushi at a reasonable price point. Currently hooked on the Rainbow Roll and the Sashimi Roll(from old menu).

We were in town for our daughter’s college graduation last weekend and some local friends suggested this place for dinner. OMG! Excellent dinner! Our party was seated in the private dining room and everything tasted amazing! I loved the ahi tuna, the crunchy spicy shrimp and the crab ragoons! Our friends ordered the shrimp bowl, which looked good. Someone else ordered a cooked chicken teriyaki. The service was spot on too! We had an great time and amazing dinner! Sushi was SOFRESH! Highly recommend this place to anybody!

Several of our friends have told us about Origami so we finally went to check it out on date night. They have an amazing selection of appetizers that made it hard to choose from. We ordered the calamari and the baked green mussels. I am working on my taste for mussels and those were really good. Brian loved them! The calamari was not over cooked either, so many places over cook them. My one dislike is that when reviewing the sushi menu I noticed that there was a lack of texture within the rolls. I was actually having a little trouble picking something out because of it so I asked the waitress for some help. She asked my likes and then I mentioned the texture problem and she said they could add cucumber or asparagus to solve that. Perfect, problem was the roll she suggested came covered in tempura crispy, but it was more like a mountain than an accent. I kinda felt like I was eating something made for a little kid or a beginner. I will go back even if it’s just for the appetizers.

This place was a great surprise to me being so close to the job. I had the Hawaiian roll and was delicious, I never had that roll before. It was worth the trip, give it a try you will enjoy the meal.

Baked green mussels — Scorched Earth — Miso Soup please. My kids enjoy coming here rain or shine! That’s what we like to order. 4 stars because for sushi spot there’s still room for improvements. Happy Hour is a good deal too if you can catch it. xoxo

Great sushi, always fresh and well prepared. The outside of the restaurant is unappealing, it is located in a small strip mall next to Walgreens on Waters. However, the inside is very nice, clean, and has a modern feel to it. The spicy tuna rice bowl was delicious! You can extra tuna for $ 4.00 more. It comes with rice, avocado, spicy tuna, and seaweed. The flavored are amazing together. The Paradise roll, tempura shrimp with tuna and avocado drizzled with eel sauce and spicy mayo. We also got the cucumber and wake me salad, which were both fresh. The cucumber salad was well flavored and not bitter or too vinegary. They have a daily happy hour 4pm — 7pm, and lunch specials until 4pm. I wish they served the spicy tuna bowl as a lunch special. Will definitely be back again and again.

Was delightfully surprised. Place was clean and atmosphere nice. Wasn’t really planning on sushi this day buy man was I glad we stopped here. Ordered miso soup, gyoza, bagel roll and get this BACON sushi. Yep you read correctly BACON sushi… I was skeptical, but from the first bite to the last it was AMAZING. Decided to order another to go so I had it for breakfast. Never thought I’d have a sushi breakfast til they gave me this dream delight

7⁄10 for their sushis and appetizers. Their miso soup was good. As well as their spicy salmon origami bowl! But most of the sushi rolls I’ve had are comparable to other better sushi restaurants. You can also get better crab rangoons someplace else. Their service was good. The waitresses move quick and they’re nice and accommodating. Just the food is great, not the best quality for Japanese food but it’s great! Bit pricey but their lunch specials for rolls and other things actually helps you save a lot!

Excellent food and service every single time. Whether it be take out or dine in, expect quality. Hands down the best sushi I have had in Tampa to date. I have tried almost every menu item and have never been disappointed. They even had a few new additions to the menu on this visit! Frequent date night location with a calm and casual ambiance. Highly recommend.

I am a fan. The food tasted fantastic. When you first walk in, the host greeted us and sat us down quickly. Server was attentive, willing to help if you have any questions. The menu is new customer friendly, as it has pictures of all their items to give you an idea of what you are ordering. This is a good idea, because a picture says a lot more than just reading off the menu. I ordered the Salmon Origami Bowl and a Spicy Tuna Roll. The origami bowl came with rice, seasoned with sesame seeds, topped with salmon, avocado, seaweed salad and spicy mayo. Salmon tasted fresh, avocado gave it a creamy taste. Portion is generous, came out with a lot more than expected. Spicy Tuna Roll tasted fresh, with the rice containing the right consistency for sushi, good amount of vinegar. Overall experience was good, definitely will come here again and recommend it to others.

I really wanted to like this place more but just wasn’t that happy with my meal. We came in for dinner and ordered a few different rolls to share. The Rainbow was a basic roll and the Tampa roll had cooked fish. They were both okay. I was really looking forward to the Volcano roll but it wasn’t what I expected. The krab topping tasted overcooked, just not good. We also shared the tempura banana split. I think the vanilla ice cream and tempura bananas were worth ½ star. They do offer sushi platters that looked good too. Maybe I’ll try that next time, if I’m in the area. With so many sushi places around, not sure if I’ll be back though.

This place is a nightmare. We ordered take out from work last week, and I went in to pick it up. They didn’t have an order for the name we provided, it was under some other name. They told us it would be 10 – 15 minutes… we’re about 15 minutes away from the place so when I got there to pick it up, they told me it was actually going to be another 45 minutes… which means a total of an hour… not 10 minutes… About 5 other people were there waiting with me who were also told 15 minutes … more like an hour. When I finally got the food and got back to the office, guess what they didn’t give us any soy sauce… what kind of sushi restaurant serves sushi without soy sauce… needless to say I won’t be ordering from here again any time soon.

I’m sad to rate Origami so low, I really am. It’s close to my house and the reviews are good. My favorite sushi place in Tampa is Samurai Blue, so I hold that up as my 5 star example… Here is a breakdown: Ambiance: casual(jeans), seating area is very open so no privacy, staff is friendly Drinks: wow! $ 5 wine? Oh wait, it’s 2oz of wine per pour. Apps: crab rangoons were EXACTLY like a Chinese takeout restaurant, baked mussels were dry, chewy and flavorless Sushi: I couldn’t decide between ordering a few rolls I wanted or one of the 32 piece platters. We went with 2nd level platter(out of 3 levels). It was $ 39, all the rolls seemed pretty good, but it was all tempura. There was no fresh element– everything was tempura and covered in sauce and tempura flakes Overall: I will not return. Quality just wasn’t what I expected/hoped for
