This place was recommended to me. PROS — Pleasant staff. NEUTRAL — Not much dining space. I didn’t mind it. Others might. CONS — Food. I had the chicken curry and I honestly think the cooks were having a bad day, but: A. The food was overly salted. «Heavy handed» doesn’t even describe the sodium levels going on in that entrée. It was like someone tripped and dropped a bottle of salt in the pots. B. Different food will have different flavor but somehow everything tasted alike… and salty. It should be noted that I did not complain so the restaurant did not have opportunity to correct the matter. I dined in after work and ate it because I paid for it and didn’t feel like raising a stink or waiting around for another plate of food. — Not much parking space. If business starts to boom, how will they accomodate the traffic? I would’ve come sooner, my boyfriend and I, but there was nowhere to park when we drove past. Everyone raves about the seafood. This place was recommended to me so I’m going to cross my fingers and try again with a seafood entrée.

By far some of the worst service Ive ever had in Tampa, fl. For starters when my cousin and I were placing our order the girl stated they didn’t have cornbread so we picked something else then as we ordered our drinks they also didn’t have any strawberry juice. They only have two booths so after waiting about 30mins outside we came inside to see if the order was ready and still nothing after over an hour of waiting we finally just wanted our money back. But not only was every single person that came out of the kitchen rude but they refused to give us our money back stating the food was finally ready after going back and forth for another 10mins we finally got our money. Wouldn’t recommend it

So as usual i forget to put up my reviews on places especially the places I truly enjoyed. So as always I Google every type of food that I maybe in the mood for. Which I usually put the«best» in front of every search also 2015(Now will be 2016). My search this day was soul food of course 4 names came up the first was closed miss it by 1 hr. Then this place was second. When you arrived it’s a small place nothing fancy(I knew I was going to enjoy my food) place a to go order. You do wait awhile for they prep your food right there on the spot. I told the owner if it was good I’ll be back and tell my friends of this place and I did. The food was well seasoned, the fish was fresh and everything I tried there has been«Yummy». So please trust me when I tell you its that good. Soulfood from the soul with that Louisiana flavor.

Just left there and I’ve got the Itis like I never felt before. I was born and bred in Louisiana so I KNOWFOOD. And this is the best I’ve had East of the Mississippi. I had the 6 piece shrimp and my mom had the catfish dinner. Most mom&pop soul food places mess it up like either the shrimp is skimpy or the fish is too greasy, but not these ladies. Neither of us could finish! The yams are AMAZING. If I’d known how delicious and filling they’d be, we probably would have ordered them alone. Lol Great soulful food. If you’re traveling on I-245, you gotta stop in at this place!

Great family owned restaurant! Even better seafood and soul food! Best in town! The shrimp shilah is my favorite thing on the menu along with the garlic snow crabs!

We are new to the Tampa area and purchased a gift certificate for some of the local restaurants. When we arrived, the owner told us she would not honor the certificate because she didn’t understand how it worked. We decided to stay and try the food anyway. I ordered fries with my shrimp but was served garlic potatoes which were very good. My partner ordered fried oysters which were not very good and were obviously pre-breaded and frozen. Although my garlic shrimp was good, it was likely frozen, as well. The hush puppies were okay, not the best. The cole slaw tasted fresh but not homemade. The frozen bread was still cold when it was served. There are only two booths(no tables), and since our food was served in styrofoam containers, I assume they normally handle take out orders. Finally, although we appreciate eclectic décor, we don’t consider political posters and notices on the walls and booths to be «art.»
