Had ordered out from this restaurant several times & can say I truly enjoyed ordering the fried snapper, it was normally delicious! But one really bad experience completely ruined things for me. In this day in age with so many restaurants available, customer service is just as important as the food u serve. I Came in with a small group & one of my guests ordered a sea food soup, but it came to the table completely different from anything any of us expected. My friend normally eats everything but this particular seafood soup-was oddly made with coconut milk so it tasted horrible. We told the server & she happily said no problem we will get u something else, but then came the manager & rudely & loudly berated my friend about the soup & said she would not take it off the tab so if we ordered something else we would be charged for both. It was beyond embarrassing & not necessary especially for a manager & with no provocation for such demeanor or argument. So with that kind of attitude who wants to order anything! We ordered nothing else, shared our meals, & all agreed not to come back. Thankfully we have found another Spanish restaurant to meet our needs w/excellent customer service from all staff including management. I give 2 stars only for the waitress & cuz my food was good but the manager honestly should never deal with customers again.

I love eating here? But certain people that work here that aren’t part of the serving staff sit around the bar eat and talk and hangout on their phones. Which makes it look very unprofessional and like they lack customer and are more interested by eating and whatever is going on in their phones.

I got the pechuga de pollo a la plancha con platanos with red beans and rice. It was delicious but the chicken was a little dry and I should have asked for limon and salsa! So much food, I definitely took leftovers!

Excellent food and atmosphere. HUGE portions for the money! Nice authentic ethnic music playing adding to the atmosphere but not blaring. Still low enough to have a nice conversation. I really enjoyed this restaurant.

If you are looking for authentic Colombian food, La Cabaña Antioqueña is the place to go. Start out with a drink, I recommend their Manzana Postobon(Apple flavored soda) or a Colombiana(An ethic fanta soda). Get a beef Empanada and make sure to ask for their Aji(home made hot sauce) to put on it. As your main Entrée, Try the authentic Bandeja Paisa. This dish is for meat lovers. Comes with Red Beans, White Rice, one Fried Egg, Chicharron(fried pork skin), steak, Chorizo, sweet plantains and an Arepa(corn patty) all in a big plate! I highly recommend this place. So if you’re in the mood to explore, Try it! Have it 4 stars because there are is a better place but still good food!

There is a ton of other restaurants on this block to choose from. The parking can fill up fast at its peak times. I can’t say no to a dish of carne asada! I have had this dish at other places and I have to say this isn’t the best I have had. Don’t get me wrong it’s still delicious, but I’ve had better. The meat was dry and on more than 1 occasion. I had red beans and rice as a side and the beans did not dissapoint. They were cooked to perfection and quite flavorful. The empanadas are great to start with and their salsa to go along with it was spicy spicy! Overall we always come back because it is a family favorite but don’t be afraid to try other locations on this road!

Really bad experience. I ordered a «casueala de mariscos» which I didn’t like at all. I told the waitress and 2 minutes later the owner came with a really bad attitude and telling me I was still going to be charged for my food. Which they did charge me. It was 5 of us. We will not go there again. They just lost 5 customers for a $ 19.50 plate. She must me in a lot of need. Customer satisfaction is the number one key of a business success..

Yum, yum, and yum. The portions here are big, which is awesome when the food is amazing! My boyfriend ordered the bandeja cabañ, which includes steak, chicken, chicharron(pork rind), an arepa, a fried egg, sweet plantains, rice, and beans. I decided to share with my boyfriend since I knew the portions would be way more than I could handle alone. It’s hard to pick any one part of the dish as the«best,» since it’s all so good, but I’ll say my favorite was the chicken. It was moist, tender, juicy, and ridiculously flavorful. I had refajo for the first time. It’s Colombian soda and beer. It’s a little similar to a shandy, but it’s more sweet and less«bubbly,» in my opinion. It’s so refreshing that I had half a pitcher.(Don’t judge. My boyfriend didn’t care for the sweet so he switched over to Aquila, a Colombian beer, which left me with all the delicious refajo I could want.) The service here is great — everyone is so friendly and attentive. It’s also a great place to catch a soccer(sorry — football) game, especially when Colombia is playing. Just make sure you get there early to grab a table! Will definitely be back!

After looking for a new restaurant to try out, we stumbled upon this gem. At first, looking at the menu, I was a bit afraid of what I had gotten myself into. After looking deeper into the menu, I determined that they had a wide variety to pick from! The waitress highly recommended the chicken plate, which most of my group ended up ordering. I personally ordered the cheese stick kids meal. I love that they actually allowed me to order off the kids meal despite no kids at the table. Everyone that ordered the chicken raved about how moist and delicious the whole thing was. They have their own, homemade hot sauce which has a great flavor and isn’t too hot. As for my kids meal, though very basic, actually had a lot of flavor. All around, I was very pleased with this experience and will definitely be returning!

Unlike the last Hispanic restaurant we visited, this place serves a very Good portion of Food, and very good as well. Service is very friendly, and very prompt on everything. They have a good selection of beers, and soft drinks as well. Over all very good! Would definitely come back.

Pretty decent Colombian fare. I had the rotisserie chicken. It was a bit overcooked and dry, but the seasoning was nice. I got a half-chicken, but was disappointed they didn’t include the back and the neck. The fish soup was very good, however, and the salad was tasty and reasonably fresh. The tomatoes were not that great. The side of boiled potatoes were fine, but how could you mess that up? They had the skin on them, which is a plus. All in all, it was a good value. And they have some things you don’t see that often around here, like tripe soup and oxtail soup. As with other Latin restaurants, their menu is carb-heavy, and for sides they pretty much only have starchy, high calorie, high carb options. They really need an English language version of their menu on their website, even though most of what they do is chicken, pork or beef served with rice and beans. Desserts, just mushy stuff, nothing special.

Outstanding food, service, and prices! My brother turned 50 this month and wanted to have his birthday dinner at La Cabana. I made reservations for 15 for a Saturday at 4:00pm. The manager was extremely nice. Hubby and I got there at 3:00 just to make sure we’d have the table ready and to decorate before my brother got there. We sat at the bar and had a half pitcher of Refajo: a shanty-like mix of Colombian beer and Colombian soda. It was delicious(even though I wasn’t too sure about that combo to begin with). We also ordered Tostones Hogao, which are crispy fried green plantains with an onion-pepper sauce. Delish! Our table was ready for us at 3:40. The restaurant was very busy at that time. Our bartender Sebastian turned out to be one of our waiters. He helped me decorate the table and even hung some decorations from the ceiling for me. Our folks started arriving early and Sebastian brought over Alejandra to help take drink orders. She was our other server for the evening. The service was phenomenal. Between the two of them, they managed to get everyone’s food and drink orders, all the while explaining the menu to our non-Hispanic friends and family. Sebastian grabbed my camera and took a bunch of photos for me, which turned out great. I ordered the whole fried snapper and shared it with my cousin. The sides were tostones and white rice, and we ordered red beans to go with it. Good thing we shared, because it was huge! Perfectly seasoned and cooked and very moist, we left only the bones on the plate. It was so good, that my friend who had ordered a chicken dish, tried our fish, then boxed up the chicken and ordered the fish for her dinner! She was in heaven. Hubby ordered #32: Fish Fillet in Seafood Sauce. We finished it today for dinner. It was also a very large portion, and very tasty. My mom had brought a cake, and the entire waitstaff came out singing. One even played the maracas! The entire meal, including appetizers, beers, sodas, and including the 20% tip, was way less than I thought it would be. Many people had take-home boxes and all of us left full and very happy. Thanks to the entire staff for making the dinner party such a fun event!

Ok so I will start by saying I visited this restaurant based on the reviews given on here… big mistake!!! This place doesn’t even make empanadas, really? What columbian restaurant doesn’t make empanadas? The food is… well let’s just say horrible! To start after taking our order the waitress was clearing off a nearby table. She took the bowl of leftover pica from the other table and gave it to us like that was a normal practice. Not where I’m from, completely unacceptable, definitely not sanitary to say the least. That could have been coughed on, spit in, whatever. GROSS! My husband had bandeja cabaña(my husband is Dominican) he loves columbian food. He didn’t finish his food. Left the whole chicharon as it was saturated with grease. I had steak criolla, well this was steak with tomato sauce onions and a packet of sazon. The whole plate was yellow. I couldn’t even force myself to finish it. After getting up to leave I noticed something on the back of my husbands shorts, what looked like sazon sauce that had dripped down the seat. I don’t see how anyone could honestly give this place 4 even 3 stars. Maybe it’s because I have eaten at authentic columbian restaurants who don’t use packets of sazon to give their food color and taste. I am writing this honest review so that someone doesn’t make the same mistake we did.

I liked this place a lot. I think I like La Pequena Colombia better, but this place is cheaper and more casual/homey. Get the rotisserie chicken, plantains, yummo. I did not like their beans. They didn’t taste like anything!

I waited to try this place twice, and I love it! Coming from a Colombian chick that means a lot. I usually find myself in ramshackle huts trying to communicate to servers in Spanglish, and dealing with Colombian paced service. Not here! They speak English, run a super clean joint, and the service is timely. Sure, Mark H. isn’t sure about the Carne Asada, but the large array of Bandejas available are impressive, and they switch from breakfast to lunch at the drop of a black and khaki dried palm braids Colombian party hat with indigenous shapes on it! Bandejas are like the all inclusive peasant dish served here which usually contains a meat, rice n’beans, chicharron(meaty rinds), avocado, arepa, fried egg(s), and sweet plantains. Some folks forget to add my additional egg, or skip the avocados altogether, but whats cool about this place is that although they make no avocado mention, they offer a lot of variety of meats to suite your mood. Want some Rotisserie Chicken, Steak, Blood Sausage or Chorizo? Well you’ve come to the right place señor! If you can eat this dish in one sitting you are my personal hero. The beer and juice flows freely, and for now, it’s my favorite in all the Colombian Corridor! Thanks to all the T. V’s and screens it’s a great place to catch a «football» game if you’re into that sorta thing.

I cant agree with all the other reviews in giving anything higher than a 3⁄5. i want to say more of a 2.5 instead. I can’t say anything differentiates this place to any of the other colombian places. On Armenia ave right before Hillsborough Ave, right behind CVS and some apartments, you’ll find La Cabana… Party of 5, plenty of room inside. we placed orders of the bandeja cabana which was good especially the steak, the rice i avoided b/c it was so overwhelming. the maduros(sweet plantains) were overfried(left a horrible aftertaste), the chicken(ive had better) and chicharron was nothing to cheer about. Others in my party had garlic shrimp, chicken plate and red snapper. I sort of cringed at the thought of them ordering fish and I was right. A $ 20+ fish plate where the fish was so small with barely any meat on it and plus once again it was overfried… no taste. This place is a one and done deal for me. at least when i go to another place for bandeja, i can at least get a coronarita…

Admittedly, I was a little sad when the Brazilian steakhouse that was here closed down several year back. They had some really good food, and they were doing their thing long before Boizao and Texas de Brazil even thought of opening up in Cigar City. Well, out with the old and in with the new. A different part of South America now occupies this spot – Colombia. I’m on a mission to find the best BANDEJAPAISA Tampa has to offer. Shouldn’t be hard, right? I mean, Armenia is known as the«Colombian Corridor» after all. Well, El Ranchito in Jacksonville(of all places) has set the bar high for this dish, and so far, my city has fallen short. I’ve had this dish all over the place, including Mí Bandera and La Pequeña Colombiana and I was left underwhelmed. But last night, I was given a glimmer of hope for Tampa when I stopped in La Cabaña for a bandeja paisa to go. The price was right, the portions were huge and the flavor was BIG. Fresh rice, delicious chorizo, great soupy beans and a crispy chicharrón. The only thing that was a little off was the carne asada. I think the cut of meat was a little different than I’m used to, however, the flavor was still good. For $ 12.95, me and La Chica ate like royalty because the dish is certainly big enough for two moderately hungry people to split. The joint was clean, orderly and adorable. The interior is designed to make one feel as if they’re in the mountains of Medellín. The staff was friendly as hell, and fanatically forced me to speak Spanish. It was fun. As for the Bandeja Paisa, it’s the best I’ve had in town thus far. I give it a 4 star on my «bandeja paisa scale.»

In the mood for Spanish food, the try this Colombian restaurant on Armenia ave. My wife the Cuban cook and critic, LOL, took me here for lunch today. She ordered, which she never does, the number 8. We shared the Bandeja Cabana. Grilled steak, rotisserie chicken, pork rind, corn cake, egg, sweet plantains, rice and red beans. A feast. The critic knows her food. Haha. Delicious. Come hungry. You won’t be disappointed. Reasonably priced and Huge portions.

Wow, thank you Mike and Steve for introducing me to this Colombian gem! I’ve been hearing about the«Latin Corridor» on North Armenia, but I had yet to check it out until now. Who knew I was missing out on some of the best food in Tampa? La Cabana does not look like much from the outside, but inside this restaurant is cooking up some delicious food. The menu is huge and carries a variety of Colombian dishes: rotisserie chicken, red beans, rice, plantains, yucca, and much more. I can’t remember the names of all the dishes I tried, but I loved everything! A lot of the dishes contained sausage which was delicious. I was introduced to so many new flavors… oh, and the salsa: WOW!!! Spicy and flavorful, but not so spicy that it burned off my taste buds. I could have ate this salsa on rice all day. In addition to the array of appetizers we tried I ordered a small bowl of the hen soup. First things first. This was not a small bowl of soup!!! Secondly, the generous portions of hen, sausage, plantains and yucca: WOW!!! I had an entire hen leg in my soup. This was this best bowl of soup I have ever had. They managed to fit everything, but the kitchen sink in the delicious bowl of soup! Will definitely be back to La Cabana soon to sample more of the menu. If you have not been yet: GONOW!!!

One of many good Colombian restaurants on Armenia Avenue. This one specializes in Paisa cuisine, the foods and beverages of the Antioquia Department which includes the city of Medellin. Their Bandeja Paisa(Paisa platter) was delicious and filling. I especially liked the way the steak portion was prepared with an almost chimichurri like marinade. It’s great to have this bustling«chevre»(cool) eatery along the Colombian corridor. Be sure to try some of the exotic juices of the land of eternal spring. «Q’huibo» means hello if you want to be extra hip. And the walls are decorated with the emblems and scenes of traditional Paisa life so feel free to throw back some«agua»(aguardiente) and have a good time. Enjoy the musica, munch on some tostones with ají(onion /garlic sauce), and be sure to bring your appetite. Paisa tradition includes compartido(sharing). The name of the restaurant is La Cabaña.

If you like seasoned rotisserie chicken, then you’ll love La Cabana restaurant. We learned today that the former La Cabana Antioquene restaurant which was located just south of Waters Avenue along Armenia has closed its doors and moved the entire restaurant to this new location one block south of Hillsborough Avenue on Armenia. If you were a regular at the old LCA, then you’ll feel right at home as they have the same artwork on the outside of the building, the same decorations on the inside, the same menu… and most importantly, the same excellent Colombian food. La Cabana has always been known for their delicious chicken, and they combine grilled or rotisserie chicken with a wide variety of other meats and sausages on large platters. The platters include several sides so that you can enjoy red beans, rice, plantains, yucca and more with your meal. Don’t expect to see a lot of vegetables — this is a carnivores delight, with the seasoned chicken being king. My friends Rich D., Mike S, and I met here for lunch today to work out the details in our upcoming Latin crawl along Armenia Avenue, and we were quite pleased with the quality and the quantity of the food. In fact, I brought home enough for a second meal. I ordered a homemade Chorizo sausage for my appetizer which turned out to be a deliciously-seasoned sausage that was the size of a 10″ ballpark hotdog. Along with that I ordered a grilled, marinated chicken breast platter which came with three sides. The chicken breast was the ENTIRE chicken breast, butterflied and pounded flat, then marinated, seasoned and grilled. That was combined with rice, beans, and a small salad, and I had plenty to bring home for a second meal. The cost for all of this food was about $ 12. Make sure that you ask them for their homemade hot sauce which looks like salsa, and has a nice peppery kick. They will also bring you a squeeze bottle of their special Colombian sauce(a blend of ketchup, mayonnaise, and some spices). Parking at this new location is a breeze with plenty of off-street parking in their private lot.
