I used to prefer Kmart to Walmarts, but the tide shifted years ago in terms of inventory, most prices, availability of groceries, cleanliness and adequacy of staff. I used to go to the one on Dale Mabry near the stadium simply because it was close to home… and less crowded than nearby Walmart. Now that option is gone and I rarely visit this one on Florida, and find it often short on staff, customers and selection.

What can I say about Kmart. I remember going to Kmart(not this particular one of course) when I was younger, long before the days of Walmart. There was a KMart in Greensboro, NC that was always a landmark for me; it meant only 16 more miles to my Grandmom’s house. Okay, enough of the nostalgia! This particular store, located right off 275 S at Florida and Waters Ave, is easy to get to. It may not be in the best location, but as I said, it is easy to get to and get out of. Especially if you know what you are looking for. I much prefer shopping here over Walmart, especially if I just need a few simple items. Whereas, with Wally World, you have to walk from one side to another to find your dog food, cleaners, and junk food. At Kmart, its all in the same general location. As for service, it could be better. Haven’t had any issues except at checkout. In the past, there would only be one or 2 cashiers, and long lines. They attempted self-checkouts several years ago. But that was apparently a loss prevention nightmare. Since that did not work, they store has increased it’s cashier population and we don’t have to wait in line very long anymore. Pricing on most items is comparable to Walmart. Now that they are linked with Sears, the selection is better than it used to be.

Generally when I go here & it’s rarely that I do because I always feel unsafe with all the«people» who are just hanging out in the front of the store. The employees do not generally help you but today when I called and ELSIE answered the phone, wow, she actually was ver accommodating & a pleasure to talk to. She was helpful with my request. Kmart needs to give her a raise & hire more employees like her!

Cashier was not good. Just really lazy. She also forgot to pack at least one thing and I’ll have to go back now. My mom was dying to go there otherwise I wouldn’t ever go. She agrees it isn’t any good.

There is the constant debate: Wal-Mart, Targt or Kmart. Personally I choose Kmart. I was sorry to see their store on N. Dale Mabry, by the stadium close, that sore was the best and cleanest. I hate the location of Kmart’s in Tampa and they are dirty. I do like their selection and their online shopping. Customer service is always a joke and will take a minimum of at least an hour, what a drag! These stores have few redeeming qualities. Now their online shopping, I love. They have a huge assortment of a wide variety of items. I will continue to shop Kmart online, not in the nasty stores. I will not go to Wal-Mart, where it takes an hour to park, unless you go after midnight. Don’t even get me started on Target. Target is usually higher priced and NEVER has enough, if any cashiers. I guess there is a time and place for all of these stores if you have unlimited time, to explore all they have to offer. Personally I will explore them online. What’s a girl to do? All women have opinions and some have more time than others.

I like this place because it’s close to home and I can just run and grab quick things. Just didn’t expect the employees to be overly helpful
