Kalupa’s Bakery

Best cookies in town!!! My fiancée grew up at Neptune/​Dale Mabry and these cookies are one of her fondest childhood memories. Datz has great food, but we were heartbroken when we learned Kalupa’s will not reopen elsewhere and we cannot otherwise get their wonderful cookies anymore.
Dear Kalupa’s, please message me on here and let me know how we can still purchase your amazing cookies, just once or twice a year would make us happy, but we would happily purchase the cookies on a monthly basis if you can find a way to supply them. I will personally pick them up from wherever you instruct.
If any of you could sense the desperation in my message above, just know that it is so true. Forever heartbroken about losing Kalupa’s cookies.

Lovely neighborhood bakery — my neighborhood.
Extremely friendly staff… good array of donuts and cupcakes and desserts and cakes and everything else. They also serve sandwiches and are a good option versus waiting 30 minutes for a table at Datz for an average well dressed sandwich. Kalupas actually has a pretty good Cuban. They are my regular fresh donut spot. Also a great place to get holiday pies, birthday cakes, and everything else your heart desires.

Great selection and friendly staff. We’ve tried the pumpkin pie (excellent), boston cream pie (very good) and a fruit pie with the edges folded up towards the middle — it was excellent and very much reminded me of a pie from a good French bakery. I used to live in France, I know what I’m talking about! We also got some rolls and some biscuits for the dogs which were excellent.
I was pleased to find a bakery in Tampa that is not predominantly Spanish style as many of them are.

I drive by this place practically every day, so finally I decided to stop in and check it out. The display case when you walk in holds the usual pastries: cookies, danishes, croissants. I was a little disappointed to not see anything spectacular there. So I settled for a cream cheese danish. Silly me didn’t venture around to the other side of the register! THAT’S where they keep the good stuff. Cakes, 3 different types of brownies, cannolis, & other special pastries. The staff was nice enough to explain every item and wait for my indecisive self. So despite the chance of looking like a fatty, I also got a cream horn from this case. Funny tho; I enjoyed the danish more than the cream horn.

I haven’t actually been at their location yet, but I received quite a few goodies from Kalupa’s Bakery as a surprise. Their cupcakes and chocolate (birthday-)cakes are simply delicious!
The cupcakes basically ‘melt’ on your tongue, that’s how good they are.
The look, texture and taste of their products is great and makes a perfect gift for someone special.

I was a regular customer when Kalupa’s was over on Neptune, and it seems they are getting overshadowed a bit by Datz next door — yeah, don’t overlook this fine little bakery just because the 800lb gorilla is louder.
Friendly staff and tasty selections, a café area to sit and enjoy, and even various savory salads and such in the back cooler. Yeah, when Datz is slammed, pop next door and enjoy.

Mmm. They have some pretty good stuff.
