This is a fantastically beautiful building in West Tampa. The former Centro Español of West Tampa, a cultural center that included a theater, gym, casino space and health clinic, the building is now home to the Hillsborough Education Foundation.
There is also a Centro Español in Ybor. Nearby in West Tampa, a Sicilian Club opened in 1929. There was also a club for Afro-​Cubans. The Sicilian Club building also remains standing and once housed a theater. Other similar cultural centers in Tampa are Centro Asturiana and Circulo Cubana.
Centro Español building is part of the West Tampa Historic District that also includes a beautiful Carnegie Library on the site of a former cigar factory and the very striking Santaella cigar factory building.
