Can’t believe this place shutdown already. That was quick. Too bad, I liked this place. Had potential.

Absolutely delicious! I had the make your own crêpe with Nutella, strawberries, bananas, and granola! Talk about yummy! You must try this place. My husband ordered an omelet and was disappointed with the portion size but I told him he just basically ordered chicken at a famous steak restaurant… so stick with crepes and you won’t be disappointed!

Crepes are fresh and well made. My daughter loved the kids chocolate chip pancakes. Husband said the chicken pesto was average. I had the caprese crêpe and thought it was good — not amazing, but not bad at all. FYI, the crepes themselves are on the sweet side, so even if you get a savory one, there will still be a touch of sweetness. As for the vibe, it’s a very clean, laid back place. It’s café meets diner(they serve breakfast all day) and with free wifi, I can definitely see this place be a nice place to get some work done during the weekdays. For the food, I give it 3 ½ stars. But I’ll give it 4 overall because of the friendly staff, convenient location, and general ambience. It’s nice to see more of these types of establishments growing in Tampa. The city needs options outside of Panera and Starbucks.

Unique but not spectacular. Three stars because mine was the third best out of the group of three we ordered. I had the Caprese. It was alright, but a bit bland. My fiancée’s grandmother had the BLT. My fiancée had the Pesto Deliz…(Something or other). Ranked in order. Pesto was the best, followed by BLT and then my Caprese was last. Maybe it is just the carnivore in me that made me slightly disappointed with my selection. This place is very unique. Definitely better for breakfast or lunch than dinner(and of course we went for dinner). This place kind of reminds me of a Chipolte for crepes. I liked the atmosphere and very much enjoyed the experience. There is a lot of variety to try here and I will surely give this place a few more tries. It is close to my work, clean, and fun. It never seems to be too crowded, and it should be considering how unique it is. While my rating is only 3 stars, I expect that after a few more visits it will boost up to 4. Heck had I ordered the Pesto crêpe, I probably would have given Flying Pan a 4 today. However, I love the Caprese salad and while they put it in a crêpe and made it look beautiful, it tasted bland. Luckily it did not taste bad, otherwise I would be calling it a Crapese Crêpe!

Flying Pan offers the best tasting crepes in the Tampa Bay area. I love the spicy Thai Twister: Chicken(you could also get beef or duck), bean sprouts, carrots, basil, mint, thai peanut sauce, and crushed peanuts. I love this flavor profile. The sandwich I had was incredible! The Beef and Blue was comprised of Angus beef, blue cheese, sauteed mushrooms, Monterey Jack, caramelized onions, and dijonnaise. The side items offered were chips, salad, or a fruit cup. All were on the very small side. For a sweet treat, The Strawberry Delight is yummy. My voracious husband’s only complaint? Not enough food. So happy to have this restaurant in the Tampa Bay area.

The former site of Bin 27 Bistro which I never got to try:-/ emerges the Flying Pan. This business brings fast casual dining like Chipotle or Panera but with a hint of upscale vibe. They run an open kitchen with visible griddles to note the art of crêpe creation. I normally gauge my rating on food quality but service isn’t too far behind. Attentiveness is noted. I have dined both inside and on the outdoor patio and service was efficient and staff was helpful in both areas. They run efficiently on a paging system. It seems to move orders along in an expedited fashion and surprisingly no hiccups along the way in orders or food wait time. Order a drink(i.e. coffee, cappuccino, latte, tea etc…) they will page you noting on the pager it displays beverage as the pick-up. Shortly after you will get a second page noting your food is ready. Now for the crêpe connoisseur, there can be an argument as far as proper crêpe form. Meaning if I was to pick up this crêpe and try to look through it that it should have somewhat of a transparent appearance due to the thinness of the batter and technique. I would say this crêpe is slightly thicker than traditional, but my no means nowhere close to pancake form. Despite that they offer a huge variety of either savory for entrees or sweet crepes for breakfasts or desserts. What stands out is that they take traditional dishes and put their twist on it in crêpe form with their version of flavor build. An example of this would be the«Rise & Shine» crêpe with baby spinach, two eggs, tomatoes and hollandaise sauce. The poached eggs sit on top of a light bed of spinach and a few slices of tomatoes. This is all wrapped up like a little gift, and then drizzled with hollandaise sauce. This knife and fork delight gives you this bright silkiness of the egg yolk running different directions along your plate. On first bite, get a hit of tartness from the tomato which almost wakes your taste buds up to this dish. Sounds messy? Don’t worry this crêpe makes a great mopping tool to your plate. When it’s all over all that is left is streaks of a recent memory. In the mood for something sweet? Strawberry and Cream Waffle. It consists of fresh strawberries, strawberry syrup, whipped cream, and a scoop of blue bell vanilla ice cream… That’s right ice cream. Why not, we eat ice cream out of waffle cones or bowls. I have noted some inconsistency in waffle texture meaning sometimes it was all soft of a waffle or has some crisp to it. Feeling healthy? Try the Fruity Museli with granola, greek yogurt, fresh fruits and mixed berries crêpe. I thought the dish was overly tart from yogurt and mixed berries compote. Sweetening the compote for balance would possibly tie it all together, but I guess adding too much sweet would defeat the purpose of a healthy dish:-/ Overall, The Flying Pan food experience I would rate as 3 stars, but Cooper said to give them an extra star for pooch hospitality. Their staff is always walking around with attentiveness from the manager on down. I do like The Flying Pan for a fast casual option.

The Crêpe Café has locations in 10 countries including Australia, Brazil and UAE. Finally, the U.S.A. gets to enjoy this International Crêpe concept with the first North American outlet in Tampa, Florida. We stumbled onto this new restaurant, which has only been open for a month, completely by accident on a recent trip to Tampa and I am glad we did. While the other locations are called The Crêpe Café, the new restaurant here in the States is called Flying Pan. It is however, the same idea based around a simple European«tortilla» known as a crêpe. Crepes are just very thin pancakes made of flour, eggs and water. The best thing about crepes is that they can be dressed up sweet or savory. The most popular crêpe dish is probably the famous Nutella Crepes and Flying Pan offers this also. However, we decided to venture a little bit out of the box. I ordered The Tuscan Sun crêpe. My crêpe was stuffed with sundried tomatoes, fresh mozzarella cheese, spinach leaves and artichokes. For an additional charge I added salmon. My crêpe was HUGE and lightly drizzled with a balsamic glaze. It was delicious. For the price I would say it was more crêpe than filling but there is nothing better than a dish that is sweet(the crêpe) and savory(the veggies and salmon.) The balsamic glaze was just enough to add a little punch. I also indulged in one of their loose teas which was served in a tea pot that held about 3 large servings and stayed very hot the entire meal. It felt very chic to drink my tea out of a glass cup. Chad went with The Seaside Omelet which was also enormous and served with a side of toast. His dish was filled with salmon, spinach, Monterey Jack cheese and fresh herbs. He thought it was great and was very filling and cooked perfectly. He also ordered a Wild Berry Smoothie. It was a very sweet concoction with raspberries, blueberries and blackberries. He loved it. My meal came with a choice of a side– either potato salad, a side salad or veggie chips. We were told that the veggie chips were«exotic” — but really– there were just a bag of Terra brand chips. While the label on the bag says«exotic» they were simply the same bagged chips you can buy at your local grocery store or Target. Nothing special. The way they were sold to us I thought we were getting some homemade crisp veggies. Oh well– I fell for the hype. We loved the atmosphere, we loved the service, we loved the enthusiasm the staff had. The restaurant was clean and modern. The employees were obviously well trained and very knowledgeable about the brand. Our only complaint was the high prices(granted– I added salmon to my crêpe and we did order a smoothie– the tea and chips were included in our meals) — we paid $ 26 for our food– which is higher than most of the other crêpe restaurants I have been to. They also had a very small parking area. I would imagine parking would be a real hassle on a crowded busy day. I hope they consider an Orlando location as Flying Pan is a nice alternative to a pancake house or a sandwich shop.

This is possibly the worse place I’ve eaten in my year in Tampa! Watch them make your food and you’ll think the same thing! My husband ordered a panini. They put the meat and cheese on the bread and microwaved it!!! Right in front of us. Um, I could do that at home! Then they put it in the panini press for about 10 seconds just so it had the ‘grill lines’. It was the grossest, nastiest, soggiest sandwich I’ve ever had! Now on to my crêpe. It was just ok. I had a turkey, mushroom, spinach crêpe. Now at La Creperia in Ybor, that would have been DELISH, but here, bland, and almost cold by the time it was done. We won’t be back here.

For the casual crêpe eater, this place isnt bad. Overpriced for crepes but not terrible. Most of my experience has been with the dessert crepes. I have tried the berry, nutella and apple pie crepes. Favorite is the apple pie crêpe, and the nutella is also good… but cinammon apples and ice-cream or nutella and icecream can even make moldy bread taste good.
The atmosphere is nice, clean. Service is a little slow at peak times. Recommend calling ahead and pick-up window outside for busy times of the day

UnilocalERS: THISISNOTWHATGOODCREPESTASTELIKE. How can a place that allegedly specializes in crepes have such horrible crepes? This makes no sense. I really wanted to love this place. In fact, I still really wanna love it, because the menu and the restaurant are so sophisticated and well-done in terms of idea and execution. Great place to meet a friend for coffee or lunch. Comfy and nicely lit and the staffers are great. But the crepes are rubbery, spongy crap. Sooooo disappointing. I will say that the coffee, the latte, and the omelette was good. I had the veggie omelette and it was veggie heaven. But the crepes are terrible. And by the way, if you are going to offer a Nutella crêpe, you have GOT to put more than a teaspoon of Nutella in it.

I love crepes! Sadly, I do not like the crepes at the Flying Pan. My coworker ordered the BLT savory crêpe and I ordered the Farmhouse savory crêpe. The crepes came with a choice of side: fruit cup, side salad, or chips. We called our orders in ahead of time and used the pick up window in order to avoid the line inside. Good move since the only open parking spot was the«Pick Up Only» spot. Upon biting into my crêpe I thought the crêpe had a funky taste. I searched to see if they accidentally forgot that I requested«no mushrooms», but there wasn’t a shroom in sight. The chicken in my crêpe looked like it was previously frozen and did not taste fresh. The bechamel sauce was very bland, maybe it had too much flour and not enough butter in the sauce? I thought I was being picky until my coworker tossed her crêpe into the trash after two bites. Her BLT crêpe was inedible and she did not care for the warm, grey avocado inside the crêpe. I wasn’t expecting the most authentic crêpe from the Flying Pan, but I was expecting the crêpe to at least taste good. The crepes were $ 9.58 each after tax — which seemed expensive for the lack of quality ingredients. I noticed that dessert and fruit crepes got better feedback than the savory crepes, but my crêpe was so gross and disappointing that I don’t think I would take the gamble with my wallet again. Will not be back.

In the 80s and 90s this place was called Trey’s and we spent many a Saturday am there! Cuban breakfast style… Bin 27 was the last thing I remember. Great late night menu and bartender. Now it houses Crepes! Disclosure– I have been there several times and LOVE crepes. These are slightly thicker than expected but delicious nonetheless. Coffee comes in oversized cup and is worth your change. café au lait with nutella. yum. I would like to see simpler crepes– Swiss and ham for example, with the ham not cut up in tiny little pieces. Regular ham. Not smoked ham. Just like in Parisian crêpe storefronts! With that said, the opening was a big hit and I am very glad. I have brought friends and clients who have returned with their friends and clients. The staff is most cordial and the proprietors want us to like them. What they could create though is a bench area in the back with plants/trees so that those poor weary crepemakers and barristas do not have to crouch on the neighboring property to smoke a cigarette. Don’t think the neighbors will dig that! A happy staff who can just walk out and sit is much more attractive to me at least! Seating area accommodates groups, couples and individuals… Maybe privacy screens will make it a wee bit cozier for couples. Great seating. Solo practitioners can also sit at bar style storefront! Music could be less mainstream. Nola/Second line has their music down pat! I hope that the music will compliment rather than … Thanks for coming to Tampa! We like you. We really do.

Nice addition to an increasingly more well-rounded local restaurant scene that offers breakfast, lunch and dinner selections. Lots to choose from plus extended hours for breakfast offerings(til 10:30 am weekdays and 2 pm weekends) along with a somewhat lengthy list of savory and sweet crepes, salads, soups and more. Selections are tagged and flagged as vegetarian, spicy as well as those available in kid size portions which helps while trying to order quickly while perusing the printed or posted menus upon entering the restaurant. And the bevy of beverages includes some tasty sounding ice teas, smoothies, hot coffees and a cooler filled with a not too standard mix of water, sodas and alcoholic beverages. Order and pay, pick up a pager, find a seat indoors or on the covered patio and wait for the food to be ready for pick up. Not the ideal system while trying to carry on a conversation with your meal mate but it works. Presentation and portions were both praise worthy and the ingredients used in the French Countrywide crêpe I sampled were quite evident, providing me with juicy bits of duck, creamy bites of brie and crunch, tangy tastes of fresh apple. Lots more to explore on the menu. Overall a solid experience that deserves returns visits.

Look it: I don’t eat crepes, I’m Colombian… but when I do, I eat them at the Flying Pan! If you like good sandwiches, you’ll love these crêpe wrapped concoctions. The looks of the desert crepes have got me all rolled up(: My compardre and I hit this little café on a Sunday during peak noon feeding time. A leisurely look over the menu may seem disheartning, what to choose? I safely opted for the Farmhouse crêpe: mostly a mind meld with a chicken, some fresh mushrooms and gooey cheese. We waited for our food for 30 minutes until a drop of drool awakened me from the trance I had fallen in while watching goodies presenting themselves from the kitchen. I got nervous thinking I had made a crêpe rookie mistake when the wonderful deliciousness of my choice hit me like a train of flavor right in the kisser! 10 bucks a person does it yet it was a bit of a challenge eating my crêpe with plastic utnesils. I really can’t wait to try desert crepes. Oh the sight of them, dancing out of the kitchen on saucers like tightly swaddled surprises of sweetness a la mode. MMMmmmm.

7p on a Friday, these people are getting orders out as quickly as possible. The Line Up: Apple Pie Crêpe. It was good, but not $ 9 good. The portion aside from the crêpe shell itself was kind of measly. The establishment is quite lovely, though! Inviting with great décor, quick employees to clean/buss tables. The Flying Pan screams«Chain Restaurant!» to me, but an upgraded one, at best.

If you’re going to the Flying Pan for some super authentic crêpe experience that whisks you to away to the side streets of Paris as you stare across a bistro table into the eyes of some mysterious stranger you met on the metro the night before, you will probably be disappointed. If, on the other hand, you have realistic expectations for a place that offers the 80% crêpe solution, fresh, healthy, tasty treats at a fairly reasonable price and reasonably quick, then you will probably really like the Flying Pan. Dinging the Flying Pan for not being«authentic» is like complaining that Carrabbas isn’t authentic Italian. It’s not supposed to be. It’s a chain that provides their own *unique* twist on the crêpe(this is on the Flying Pan home page). I’m in the latter of the two groups. Walking to the Flying Pan, I knew going in that I wasn’t headed to some posh French place that claimed to serve the perfect, authentic crêpe, so I didn’t have any reason to be disappointed with my Aussie Sunrise, fresh squeezed orange juice and coffee. I withheld the fifth star because the layout is a bit cramped and cumbersome for someone with a stroller or wheelchair. Once I got past the register to the pickup area, the path narrowed considerably and I was basically forced to take a table along the wall in order to find space for my stroller. To leave, I would have either had to trek backward through the ordering line or, as the case was, rely upon the kindness of strangers to literally move tables out of the way. Aside from the difficult layout, I love the interior. The color palate and styling is very low-key, clean lines and great modern pieces.

Went in early afternoon, no lines, plenty of parking and credit card machine is up and running… had the pesto delizioso and a make your own nutella both had good flavors but the actual crêpe was thicker than what I expected. Also had the gourmet chips and would not order those again. They also offer sandwiches, salads, soups, coffe, teas, smoothies and milkshakes. Overall good concept but for someone who has tried crepes outside the US this may not fulfilled your expectations.

I love crepes so I was excited about this place opening. I went for dinner on opening day and they had already run out of ingredients for my first two choices so that was a bit of a bummer. The owner came over and apologized and gave us a free coupon for our next visit which was a pleasant surprise. We ordered a turkey/avocado crêpe and a build your own crêpe with mixed berries, Nutella and ice cream. Cheers: — love the concept of them making everything fresh on those cool burners. Like watching an artist at work… really cool — each crêpe is plated beautifully — nice simple and humble décor, unpretentious atmosphere, casual dining Jeers: — the mixed berries were from a bag of frozen berries in light syrup which were mushy and still a bit frozen. Fresh berries would have really made the dish pop with color and flavor — the turkey was simply cheap sliced deli meat. I wish they would have used fresh carved/sliced turkey — at about $ 10 for each crêpe I felt is was on the higher side considering the ingredients — the cooking station is awesome to watch, but it’s hidden from view when you walk in due to the large condiment station that walls off the cooking area Conclusion: I think my expectations for a real fresh creperia were just to high. I was hoping for a higher quality of ingredients. All in all they do an awesome job on presentation and watching them being prepared is really fun.

My husband loves crepes, I generally think they are just ok. We came here on opening day for breakfast, and I may have been turned into a crêpe fan. We got the Aussie Sunrise, Rise & Shine and make your own with Nutella and strawberries. the crepes were nornal crêpe size, but they were generous with the fillings. My husband went so far as to say it was the best crêpe he had ever eaten(specifically talking about the nutella one). The atmosphere was great(very Panera Bread-esque) and they have a nice outdoor area for pleasant Tampa days. We came with our 11 month old, and it’s baby friendly. The owner was super nice and came over to say hi to us. Just a note, this is one of those places where you place your order and then seat yourself(like Panera or fast food). So if you are looking for a dining experience then you wont find it here. They really should open one in NYC. It would make a killing there during lunch time. The only negatives … the orange juice — while fresh squeezed and delicious — comes in a half filled glass, leaving you feeling somewhat cheated. I get that fresh squeezed is expensive, but maybe get a smaller glass so I feel better about it? Also, the bacon in the Aussie Sunrise was microwaved. It would have been so much better freshly made, but it wasnt at all bad.
