In addition to a great shopping and purchasing experience (see previous)… we also had a great delivery! We were called Saturday morning, and give a two hour window between 10:15 and 12:15. Truck showed up at about 10:30, the crew was friendly, very careful with the new fridge, and the doorways, and other things that were around. They hooked it up to electricity and water, and were out the door quickly. Very friendly and helpful delivery guys!
Only issue was that they had some black grease or something on their hands, and left smudges on the old and the new fridge. But nothing major… quick to cleanup!

Famous Tate has been providing the Tampa Bay region with great deals on appliances and, more recently, bedding, since the 1950s. I’ve been shopping at Famous Tate ever since I moved to Tampa, first using them to fill my home in Westchase with new appliances. At that time we needed everything, and the folks that I worked with at Famous Tate were just super about showing she-​who-​must-​never-​be-​named and I a great selection of washers, dryers, refrigerators, cooktops, ovens, and microwaves. They took the time to explain all of the features & functions, and helped me make some great choices. They arranged delivery right away, and even helped manage the installs. I certainly hope that the people who bought my old home appreciated all of the smudge-​free, stainless steel appliances.
More recently I was in need of a new mattress set, and I visited this location of Famous Tate to look over all of the brands of mattresses. This Famous Tate store is located on Armenia Avenue, just south of the traffic light at Waters.
They must’ve had over 30 different styles and brands of mattresses, so it was a busy afternoon of lying down on each one to check for comfort and firmness. I read through the signage on each mattress to be sure that I picked something with a good warranty and highly-​recommended rating through various independent sources. My sales associate was fantastic, and the lady gave me some great recommendations of different features (coils versus memory foam, pillow top versus a plush mattress pad) and so on.
In the end I picked out a nice Simmons Beautyrest plush pillow top mattress, and she arranged delivery and setup of the new bedding, and disposal of the old junk. I found Famous Tate to be very easy to work with, and their prices were the best in town. In addition to mattresses and box springs, they also sell regular and electrical adjustable bed frames, mattress pads, sheets, and pillows.
Excellent selection, fabulous service, and low prices. Sounds like their TV commercial. :-)

We buy all our products from Famous Tate for our rental properties, and our home for years. We had a issue with our Frigidaire Refrigerator Warranty, we called and spoke to Bruce Wolfson the store manager and he was more than willing to help make it right. We got a new refrigerator delivered the next day. Thank you so much for helping us to make this experience a great one :)

Was immediately greeted and shown around while looking for a new refrigerator. I had previously purchased a dishwasher there so I felt comfortable going back. They offer free delivery and haul away. If you check in on Unilocal,there is a free warranty offer :)

I have been working with Carlos P. at this store for over 2 years. We order all of our appliances from them and I make several orders per year for our business. They always have or can get what I need regardless of what it is and Carlos has been excellent at both service and professionalism when helping us. I make one call, he finds it, quotes it and sends it over to me. If you’re in need of some appliances don’t go to the big chain stores, go here.

Been buying mostly scratch and dent appliances from them since 1992. They have a good selection, and can get great prices. Their prices on regular merchandise appears to be comparable with the on line and big box sales, competitive prices; but the real deals are scratch and dent. Got a refrigerator for $ 1200 that was on black Friday sale at Home Depot at $ 1800. All scratch and dent items should come with full manufacturer’s warranty. The more scratches, the better price, but if you have kids you’re gonna get scratches anyway so get the discount up front.
Free delivery and removal of old appliances. They also honor their extended warranty better than most, had dealer object to repair of dishwasher but Famous Tate got it repaired for no charge. I usually don’t like extended warranties, but worth it for some items with them.
Note they are one of the few appliance dealers that still have commission salespeople, thus they have an incentive to make a sale and should negotiate.
Recommendations:
Check the model number on your cell phone through search to compare prices. Check consumer reports online or other sites to see ratings on the model you are interested in. You get the best prices on commission sales at the end of the month. If they don’t give you the price you want, go to another store. I believe all the Famous Tate stores have scratch and dent.

I’m working with them on a new construction home. I know a lot of builders use them, but my contractor is on a fee basis and only suggested I talk to them, it wasn’t required. I was ready to order a whole bunch of appliances from an online place that included ‘free’ delivery, and of course since it was out of state, no tax was to be collected (yes I know I should pay Florida use tax). In any case, after working with the folks here at the Famous Tate on Armenia, they gave me a price that included inside delivery and setup for not too much more, even with tax factored in. This is also not just a matter of dragging some appliances from the curb to the interior 50 feet away on a dolly; it’s a second floor delivery, and they said that is fine. My contractor said it would easily cost the same or more to hire some labor just to come move the appliances up 13 feet of stairs (it’s on the water and built up to flood elevation requirements), but if something isn’t right, who’s better to deal with, a random internet site or a local company who stands behind the appliances and delivery.
They even let me pay the down payment on a credit card; balance due at shipping time.

On Sunday I bought my washer & dryer. Famous Tate has a 30 day price match guarantee. Today I was at Home Depot and saw the dryer for $ 75 cheaper than I paid. Famous Tate refunded me $ 85! Famous Tate is truly one of my favorite places to shop.

I have recently relocated to the Tampa area and was in need of a new microwave for the condo I am renting. I had some serious specifications due to space and the folks at Famous Tate’s really helped me find exactly what I was looking for at the price I wanted to pay. Powerful but small I think this microwave and I are going to be perfect. Thanks Famous Tate’s for introducing us! They even took the time to show off the vacuum cleaners as well. That will be my next purchase, and FT’s is the way to go.

I recently purchased a bank owned home. While it was a great price, it unfortunately had no appliances. This didn’t seem like a big deal until I realized how expensive and specific built in ovens and microwaves were. I visited several discount appliance stores in hopes of finding an open-​box or scratch and dent piece to lower my cost. No such luck.
After a painful morning at Home Depot, where the woman in appliances just pulled up the home depot website and starting searching for ovens (uh thanks lady, I can do that from my couch)…I finally ended up at Famous Tate. Paul greeted us as soon as I walked in and asked what we were looking for. I told him my dilemma, showed him a picture and told him I was working with a small budget.
He immediately took me to the clearance section– where unfortunately, did not have any of the pieces. However, he then pulled up budget friendly new items– knowing exactly what size/​options we needed, and discounted them even more for a package deal. After about 20 minutes, I had all my appliances ordered, within my budget, and with zero stress.
Paul was super friendly and gave me the confidence that I was ordering the correct items for my kitchen. I can’t wait to have them installed!
