I feel odd scribbling this review because it’s just an event space, and I wasn’t the one who rented it. I was forcefully dragged here while under the weather by my Chica for the Cleopatra’s Dream thingy. I’m not really into cosplay, let alone Egyptian cosplay, but a friend of ours was performing and we had to support. I walked away with a new found respect for belly dancing and all other things Egyptian, to be honest. The event was major cool and the $ 15 up-charge for unlimited cheap wine was crowd pleaser. As for the venue, it’s small. Good for medium-sized parties. Maybe 150 people max? There is a stage, a kitchen/bar area, ample restrooms and some«secret» spots on the south side of the space. Not sure what was going on in there – was afraid to look. I didn’t wanna be given a Phoenix mask and asked to plow some 50 year-old man’s wife. Anywho… lol My suggestion, get a proper sound system, CL Space. It seems cheesy to me that whoever is DJing or proving the entertainment has to bring their own speakers. The space is very acoustic, like a long and empty hall, and a certain type of speaker placement is needed to adequately fill it with audio. Very few average Joes could pull it off, including the DJ for this event. I felt like I was at a kid’s birthday party. So just wire up a fancy surround sound that DJs and such can plug their equipment into.

I’ve been here before, but this time it was for an event called Cleopatra’s Dream. I have a friend who belly dances and he was dancing at this thing, so I knew it would be interesting. I bought the whole family tickets for Christmas. The CL Space was prepared. Although they might have missed out on a coat check opportunity, they did offer an awesome beer and wine package that was a must-buy! The dance show was great, the art and vendors were so much fun. The costumes and ambiance were very sexy. I felt like I walked into an Eyes Wide Shut Scenario right here in Tampa at a very exclusive party with an Egyptian themed bazaar at a spooky Vampire Club complete with mystics, and palm readers, but executed with class. The bathrooms were clean, and more than enough. I can’t wait to attend the next one!

I came to see the Banned Books Burlesque in the CL space. While the show was absolutely delightful, the space was warm. Almost uncomfortably so, but it was large and well kept, with a large kitchen and neat bathrooms. If I had need to rent something I might consider renting a place like this one.

My husband’s band was invited to play a private party at the CL Space. I had never heard of it before they were invited to play. It is a really great event space! It has a large layout and a big stage. There is a full kitchen(which the hosts used to make a ton of mac n’ cheese — score!). The acoustics were great and the space at a chic warehouse type of feel. Another cool thing about this spot: It is connected to Creative Loafing’s Ybor offices. If you peak behind the curtain — there is a news room. I don’t know the price to rent the CL Space or if you have to be associated with Creative Loafing to use it, but I do know that I had a great time here!
