Service: on time, professional and expedient. Not a single service complaint. Cost: $ 181 — this is my complaint! Service Time: beginning to end, less than 60 minutes — actual time working on TV components was more like 20 minutes Scenario: Samsung LCD TVs have a well known and well documented issue with their power module capacitors — causes clicking while the TV tries to turn on for 2 to 4 minutes. Left unchecked, they can eventually damage the TV in other ways. The replacement, higher end, capacitors can be ordered online for around $ 20. With a little know how, time, soldering iron and confidence your typical homeowner can probably do it themselves. Which is what I should have done. What irks me about this service was the $ 147 labor charge for less than 60 minutes service call. Ok, they came to my house, ok, they have the history of doing this — so much so he did in like 20 minutes, ok he had the parts here and now. But $ 147 labor charge??? When I booked the appointment I told them exactly what the problem was — both I and they knew it — so there wasn’t any«diagnosis». I also asked what the service rate was going to be, he quoted between $ 130 and $ 170. My Corvette mechanic charges half that! I am still trying to figure out why my TV was the $ 170 and not the $ 130 especially since I provided the diagnosis for them before they even showed up. Conclusion: rip off — either do it yourself or find another service. They had the potential to earn a good customer for future items and repairs — but at $ 150 labor rates I don’t think so… not even close.
