Why 2 stars? Because the unreliability just got out of hand. — — — In my first go-around with Allied Sod, they definitely made it a habit to not show up when they said they would, but it generally ended up being more of a minor inconvenience, more than anything else. I figured I would put up with that again at my new house, considering that I enjoyed their work and the price. Unfortunately, I guess I made them too comfortable as a client. There was definitely almost no motivation to remain professional. During the very first meeting about what I wanted to do, I told him — «I spent X amount on the landscaping at my last house. I want to keep this house UNDER that amount.» I was very clear on that. Unfortunately, once the job was about 75% done, he gave me the total amount that was due, and it was drastically above the amount I told him I wanted to keep my budget under. I felt bullied and taken advantage of. But notice how I said he still had 25% of the job left to do. I paid him on a Saturday, and he said, «he would be back to finish it early the next week.» After more than a dozen back and forths, and a dozen«I’ll be there later today» or «I’ll be there tomorrow’s,» he finally finished this job… 19 days later. And no, a dozen failed promises is not an exaggeration. It blew my mind how many times he could swear that my job would be done by a certain day, and then that day would pass, and I would hear nothing. The final nail in the 2-star coffin was that I was out of town when they finally did finish my job, he did it very half-assed. I had to get sprinklers put in, and Joe told me that he would patch up my grass to the point where I would never even be able to tell that the sprinklers were installed. The result was that they put half-dead grass on the dirt patches, and didn’t even cover all of it. I’m so disappointed by a good relationship that went way wrong.
